Troopathon update: Steamers still steaming!
posted at 4:35 pm on June 19, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
The effort to generate care packages for the troops on the front lines continues to go full Steamers ahead!
The Hot Air Steamers continue to lead the contest with a week left, racking up over $5700 in donations, which go to buy care packages for our troops overseas in combat zones. Robert Spencer’s Anti-Jihadists have closed the gap, though, surging to over $3700 in donations — which may be tough news for the Steamers, but great news for the troops. Mark Danziger’s Team COINs has gotten on the board as well, and we know they’ll make it a race.
Here are your Hot Air Steamers:
- Stix Blog v3.0
- The Minority Report
- Suzy Rice
- No Sheeples Here
- Leaning Straight Up
- Mitchell Blatt
- Ladies Logic
- The Lonely Conservative
- YidwithLid
- Internet-Women
- Barton Bulletin
They’re helping to make this a great competition, and a fun way to support a great cause.
We still need your help! The blogger competition is certainly fun, but the point is to get as many care packages to the troops as possible, especially before the June 25th Troopathon that features Michelle Malkin, Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham, Mark Levin, Kelsey Grammer, Gary Sinise, and yours truly. Just click on this link to order your care packages and put a smile on the faces of those serving our nation in the toughest theaters of conflict. You won’t spend any better money this month!
If you’re a blogger, just send an e-mail to MAF (the e-mail is at the linked page), download a banner or graphic, and link it to the Steamers’ order page on your blog. I’ll post about this every day from now until the competition ends on the 25th, and include links to all my team members. [Note: The MAF has to approve it first, and may want to even out the teams.]
Stay tuned for more updates!

Add one squad pack for the Steamers.
The transaction was weird. It said that my card was invalid-it’s anything but-erased my info but according to the bank went through anyway.
As long as the troops get their box-that’s what’s important.

Ed,
I have a question, I sent a package last year with MM, and all, but did not do it online, but with a check. The total was given for the troups. How can I send one with a check to give you credit. Just me, I don’t give info. online.

Our First Daily Prize Winner: The Anti-Jihadists Team!
Robert Spencer’s Anti-Jihadists Team managed its first upset winning our first Daily Competition! In the 24-hour period, running yesterday June 18th from 12:01 pm PST to today June 19th at 11:59 am PST, the Anti-Jihadists blogs referred $974.84 in care package contributions and the Hot Air Steamers referred $235.97.
Move America Forward congratulates the Anti-Jihadist Team members-we will be contacting you soon about your Starbucks gift card!
And from the fantastic blog postings we’ve seen-we’re sure this isn’t the last upset!
For the overall standings, the Ed Morrissey’s Hot Air Steamers Team continues to hold onto the lead with $5,731.33 for care packages, the Anti-Jihadists remain in second with $3,724.46, and Marc Danziger’s Team COINS is now in third with $24.99. The latest roster and standings can be seen here.
