And obviously, after the speech that I made in Cairo, we tried to send a clear message that we think there is the possibility of change.

It's always about what HE did, about the speech HE made.

Nothing about what anybody else did, such as Roxana Saberi or Mousavi, or even Maliki in Iraq.

Those protestors in Iran know full well they could end up like those in Tienanmen Square, yet they persist at the risk of their lives. Some of them may remember Berlin in 1989, two years after a courageous President said "Tear Down This Wall"! Every one of those protestors in Iran has hundreds of times more courage than Obama ever had.

How about giving credit to those who replaced Saddam Hussein by Nouri al-Maliki in Iraq--American troops, David Petraeus, and oh, Heaven forbid, George W. Bush? Could those Iranian protestors be inspired by what happened on their western and eastern frontiers?

Pay no attention to the burgeoning democracy next door. There are no such things as "seeds of democracy". it is only coincidence that after 30 years of rule-a by Mullah, the people of Iran would demand fair elections right after Iraq got them.

Or something.

For the record, if we’re throwing in Star Trek references, I vote for the episode, “A Piece of the Action.” With Obama as any one of the crime bosses, and Rahm as his lieutenant.

Biden would fall for the Fizzbinn game.

This little episode is both revealing and amusing. Last Friday afternoon he all but took credit for Mousavi by Friday night his entire Iran policy was discredited and in ruins. I enjoyed his failure immensely. But the best part of this has been that now his arrogance and ego have trumped Iranian and American interests and he's doubled down on failure. Amusing in this of course is to watch his sycophants side with the Mullahs to defend Barry's policy. I love it! Go Barry go!

Worry and despair are easy pits to slide into these days. Optimism is a distant memory.

SKYFOX on June 19, 2009 at 9:36 AM

I live in the Chicago area (ugh, I know...), and I work in a restaurant.

Before the election, my co-workers were very gung-ho for Obama, about 90%/10%, pro-HopeyChangey. The guests that I overheard talking were a little more evenly split, about 60%/40%. The pro-Bambi comments were plentiful.

Now? Not so much. By 2012, only the true believers will still be on board the Messiah's train. Most everyone with a bank account will awaken from their kool-aid induced stupor and wonder what the Hell they were thinking. It's already happening... I'm seeing it right before my very eyes.

It will also be ugly when he leaves office and has to find some way to remain relevant when people are not so interested in him anymore.

That won't happen for 8-10 years, and he still needs to visit all the 57 states.

Since we "kicked Hezbollah out of Syria and Lebanon", we didn't support those governments in building communities to keep them out. This according to our "smart" VP.
Only The One can change the world and now they will use this rhetoric to justify it.

If Barak Obama wants to claim CREDIT for what's going on in Iran right now that, by itself, is not a problem.

The problem is that, no matter what happens next, he will refuse to take any RESPONSIBILITY whatsoever.

This has been the pattern of his entire life.

This "robust" Iranian "debate" has been served up to Mr. Audacity on a silver
platter and the inexperienced fool has no idea what to do. He's a teleprompted
speechifier and this development wasn't in the socialist game plan.
Maybe when the novel idea of this phony's election wears off, the swing voters that foolishly voted him in will realize Owebama"s too busy tearing up The Constitution and stealing our country to care about what's going on elsewhere.

I don't know about y'all, but I'm impressed that a speech in 2009 influenced events in 2005. Like the Lebanon thing.
Who knew the One was a time traveller?

Things like that make my arse twitch. Kind of like when he said his uncle or whoever and the American military liberated Auschwitz. Which I'm sure came as a surprise to the Russians....

“And whoever ends up winning the election in Iran, the fact that there’s been a robust debate hopefully will help advance our ability to engage them in new ways,” he added.

Lol. Yeah...b/c that happened so well between Fatah and Hamas.

What a moron.

When I see the big-eared freak’s popularity numbers still high, I am reminded that the universe of anti-Obama commenters (me included) on HotAir is a pretty small universe. More of a neighborhood actually. I don’t take time to read other blogs, though I probably should. I don’t know if we are unique or if there are enough of us out there to really make a difference, or are we just whistling past the graveyard.
Worry and despair are easy pits to slide into these days. Optimism is a distant memory.

God, I only hope we aren't alone, because it's going to very, very ugly in 2012

Obama is self-referential to a degree that stands out even among fellow politicians -- and that's saying something, seeing as he has Joe Biden as his Number 2.

Also, I like this gem from Obama's comments, "...but just as has been true in Lebanon, what can be true in Iran as well is that you’re seeing people looking at new possibilities..." and yet no reference to elections in Iraq and new possibilities there. Amazing.
