I guess it was a case of lesser evil. Did you want to help hurt the SU? Or no? The US government wanted to give the SU some pain as retribution for the Vietnam debacle.

There was nothing to replace the SU / communist parties other than religious extremists.

At least they can taste victory against unarmed students, instead of getting a usual beating from the Israeli forces.

Ironic that the student voices of 2009 are the opposite of 1979, and that the head goon once a student in rebellion, has no problem crushing the students of the next generation.

I would love to hear Carter’s reaction to Hamas’ actions in Iran. Of course it would be our fault, it’s just how he gets to that point that would be such a fun
lefty logic twist. Time to get the hook out for this sorry fool and drag him off of
the world stage.
It’s too bad that Owebama is so hung up on his transformative conversation with
Amadinnajacket, because all he has to do is slam the door in the oval office and
the roof would fallin on the house of Iran. That “holy” revolution has come full

His hope, he added, was that Israel would “come to its senses” and ruthlessly deal with the Palestinians.

Very telling. These people don’t have as big a gripe with Israel as their leaders portray. They could find a way to get along with the right leadership. It truly crystalizes the perception of how evil the Iranian, Syrian, Saudi, Palestinian, etc., etc. leaders are. Also, even more telling is this:

On Monday, he said, “my brother had his ribs beaten in by those Palestinian animals. Taking our people’s money is not enough, they are thirsty for our blood too.”

The Palestinians NEVER had a homeland, have always been despised by Arabs, and are animals who can never get along with themselves or anyone else.
