Boxer gets snotty with general: Address me as “senator,” not “ma’am”

I don’t know how else to read this except as a gratuitous slur that he’s refusing to acknowledge her title because she’s a woman, as though he’s Col. Jessep in “A Few Good Men” or something. What are the odds that a guy who’s spent decades addressing his superiors as “sir” would address a woman senator as “ma’am”? I actually went back and skipped around in the video of the rest of the hearing to see how he interacted with male senators and caught him answering Vitter’s questions with “yes, sir” a number of times. Is Boxer’s ego so fragile and her method so imperious that she’d publicly humiliate a guy whom she has no reason to believe is being anything less than respectful?

I’m with that 100%, unfortunately North Carolina is not. 18 months ago they passed a law all helmets had to be DOT compliant, all my friends went out and bought DOT helmets but not me. I’m still sporting my skid lid and no one has noticed…. so don’t tell anyone. The good news, South Carolina is only 2 hours away.

Seems I hit a sore spot. So that’s your method, say someone is not in the military in order to attack them so you can say you aren’t attacking someone in the military.
BTW, I don’t believe you are a retiree, otherwise you’d know that not all services use the term G.I. You’re either making some strange assumptions or just making things up as you go.
BTW, insulting, lying, and attacking people, then saying that they are fake christians isn’t very believable.

Barbara Boxer was condescending, arrogant, and rude.
The General was humble and accomodating.
He did not wince. He did not stumble. He merely complied with Boxer’s request, and said “yes, maam.”
I admire that about the General.
That General is a very good man, and in that exchange between Boxer and the General, the General came off as the better, more honorable, more polite, more level headed person.

Barbara would then be very insulted if she visited the campus of Texas A&M. Many of the students attending, (military and non-military alike)routinely address women that are older than themselves as “ma’am” as a sign of respect, not of disrespect.
What a classless remark directed at the general–a person for whom she would not be fit to wipe his boots. It only demonstrates further her pure disdain for anything “military”.

What a sign of insecurity. I talked with my share of female Senators and Representatives during Congressional delegation visits, and not one ever thought she was being dissed when we addressed her as “ma’am.”
Standard military address, junior to senior. Sign of institutional respect. No insidious implications about the title or status of the person being addressed.
I’ve done my part to lose Boxer. Need help from a few more California voters.

I don’t give a shit what others on this forum consider a troll. I don’t even agree with a whole lot of what people say on here, but I do actually read it and look for FACTS, which is obviously what you don’t do. All you have to do is do a search for the article about Baldilocks being from Kenya and a daughter of a man who came to America through the same program that Obama’s father did. It also mentions that she’s retired from the military.
Oh, and I don’t consider people who don’t “tow the line” to be trolls. I consider people “trolls” when they come on here and harass people, make inflammatory statements, and expect everybody to leave them alone and not call them out on it. Deal with it.

I am not going to get into that debate on this thread. Suffice it to say that a Christian would not make the untruthful moral equivalence arguments that Jimmuh made in his book and elsewhere, equating Israel’s actions to those of apartheid South Africa, for instance.

BTW if you want proof of my military service you can ask for it nicely via email: baldilocks[-at-]sbcglobal[dot]net. On my DD Form 214, my SSN is sanitized for my protection and my parent’s address is sanitized for yours (they shoot first and ask questions later).
