I’m happy to report that we are off to a great start in our Troopathon Blogger Challenge! The Hot Air Steamers have taken an early lead in orders of care packages for the troops overseas, as well as in collecting blogger partners for our team. We have generated $324.97 in orders and now have the following bloggers on our squad:
- Stix Blog v3.0
- The Minority Report
- Suzy Rice
- No Sheeples Here
- Leaning Straight Up
- Mitchell Blatt
- Ladies Logic
- The Lonely Conservative
- YidwithLid
We still need your help! The blogger competition is certainly fun, but the point is to get as many care packages to the troops as possible, especially before the June 25th Troopathon that features Michelle Malkin, Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham, Mark Levin, Kelsey Grammer, Gary Sinise, and yours truly. Just click on this link to order your care packages and put a smile on the faces of those serving our nation in the toughest theaters of conflict. You won’t spend any better money this month!
If you’re a blogger, just send an e-mail to MAF (the e-mail is at the linked page), download a banner or graphic, and link it to the Steamers’ order page on your blog. I’ll post about this every day from now until the competition ends on the 25th, and include links to all my team members.
Stay tuned for more updates!

Wait a minute, I thought we were going to be the Blow Hards. What happened?

I thought we might want something a little less snarky for Troopathon. If I form a softball team, though, I might use Blowhards. ;-)

While i liked the name “Blog Hards” … just imagine the field day the lefty bloggers would have with that one.

Please permalink this at the top of the page. I don’t have my wallet with me at work. (It’s hidden in a secure location away from Duh One).

We’re still trying to recover for the variations from the Tea Parties,

Bought my large pack a couple of weeks ago via MAF. Sorry I didn’t credit HA.

I must be a moron, because I can’t find the email address you’re talking about. I don’t know what traffic E3 Gazette will generate, but we’re in.

Ed or anyone else,
If we want to buy larger than just the one pack, how many does a company, brigade, patoon, batallian serve with packs? Please let me know so I can select which one I want to send. Thanks
karenhasfreedom on June 16, 2009 at 1:39 PM
karnehasfreedom,
If you go on the ‘click the link’ it tells you what package you choose will serve, Co., brigade, etc.

Hi Capt. Ed: Is the objective of the blogging team competetion to send the biggest number of packages or to raise the most total funds?
Both worthy aims but if it helps spark competiton, I’ll send four small packs @24.99 ea. versus 1 squad pack for $99.99, right?
Thanks, Ed, and full ’steam’ ahead!!

Ditto.
“Steamers” is pretty dumb. Why couldn’t we have been “Hot Heads”?

Hi Capt. Ed: Is the objective of the blogging team competetion to send the biggest number of packages or to raise the most total funds?
Either works, but I’d say that more packages is probably better. We’re just using dollars for the competition, but I’m less concerned with winning than with getting the packages to the troops.
Ed Morrissey on June 16, 2009 at 2:05 PM
Indeed, our troops are the ‘winners’ ultimately. I was inspired by Michelle Malkin to send a package during last year’s Troopathon, but it’s twice as nice to be part of the Hot Air community effort!

Thanks for re-posting, Ed. I’ve been traveling a bit these last few days for business… just made my “Platoon Pack.”
God Bless America.

So if I use that link it gets credited to the steamers? There is nothing there saying that.
bagoh20 on June 16, 2009 at 3:18 PM
When I signed up they placed me in the Steamers, so I think the people at MAF assign you to a team.
The credit is in the link code.
these are the emails:
Danny Gonzalez || danny@moveamericaforward.org
Erica Anderson || eanderson@moveamericaforward.org
I think Erica is in charge, or at least that is who I got the email from.
Yes I agree the Blowhards would have been a better name. But oh well, I am a little blogger in a big sea.
But it is all for a good cause.
stix1972 on June 16, 2009 at 4:25 PM
I just bought a ‘large pack’ and will make sure that it gets credited to the Steamers. Also put the link on my goofy little blog. (and no I don’t want to link here to my blog, everyone would laugh, it’s ‘written’ by my dog :-) )
Good luck, Ed, looking forward to hearing the blogathon on Thursday!
