<blockquote>Palin fans were warned this would happen when they insisted on going after Letterman. They made an enemy Palin didn’t need.

Otherwise, he’s just a goof on a TV show telling bad jokes. Now, he has a reason to go after her.

Moesart on June 17, 2009 at 11:48 AM</blockquote>Well golly, why'd he apologize at all then? He could've just tripled down with devastating sex-with-moose jokes. Har har.

<blockquote>I’ve learned to stop reading once I see these words. There’s nothing more idiotic than some DB projecting qualities onto a person they don’t know, then getting in their high horse in an attempt to belittle them. You might as well reprimand an ink blot.
it’s one of those odd Internet phenomenons that highlights the disconnect from reality that is often prevalent here.
Tom_Shipley </blockquote>

“disconnect from reality that is often prevalent here”
Is that like your claim Letterman/CBS did not know it was 14 year-old Willow at the game when the REALITY is CBS New York, Letterman’s home station reported that it was in fact Willow not Bristol at the game?

That was on June 7th Tom, 2 days before his “joke”.
Why won’t you answer this question Tom?

He's been "going after" her since the beginning. Palin didn't do anything to provoke this or any previous sliming by this bum. Sure, he won't stop, but he wouldn't have stopped anyway! At least now he'll be slavering with a busted lip for a while.

Would it have been better for Sarah Palin to assume the fetal position of President George W Bush and not respond at all against presumptuous and scurrilous attacks against her or her family?

If you are an Obama supporter you would willingly go without Christmas presents for this to occur.

To be honest what really strengthened my support of Sarah when I heard from John Ziegler, that during the time he spent with Governor Palin in Alaska interviewing her for his documentary Media Malpractice, Sarah expressed to him that she was not going to be like Bush and say nothing-that instead she was going to fight back against all the false smears, disinformation and propaganda levelled against her.

By taking on Lettermna and exacting an apology from him. Sarah has won a great moral and political victory.

Sarah has defended her daughters which she had every right to do-she is to be admired for that. But even more important I believe (Sarah's Facebook and Sarah's Twitter account)her support is now increasing exponentially, she had solidified her support in the conservative base and finally has given herself the opportunity to attract more moderates and independents(especially women to her camp.

As to the latter many of them were previously not Palin supporters but now I believe many of them are now willing to give Sarah Palin a second look or now sit on the fence whether they will support her or not.

A tremendous 10 days for Sarah Palin. Eat your heart out!

<blockquote>Sarah Palin put an effective end to the contretemps over David Letterman and his admittedly “coarse” jokes about Palin’s daughter. </blockquote>

Hardly.

Letterman will make fun of this and the people behind it for some time to come. He isn't through with Palin, either. Not by a long shot.

Palin fans were warned this would happen when they insisted on going after Letterman. They made an enemy Palin didn't need.

David Letterman ridicules Palin's gracious acceptance of his "apology" claiming that he had to bribe her with a $500 LensCrafter gift certificate.

<blockquote>"The big news here today in New York City is the 'Fire Dave Protest Rally' and it's going on right now. You folks are missing the real show, I'm sorry. Do we have a camera out there? Let's check in on the Fire Dave Rally, it's at 54th and Broadway!" he said. Directors then cut to footage of various looting rallies from around the world, with a graphic reading "Midtown Paralyzed By Anti-Letterman Protest" underneath.

In actuality, only about 50 protesters gathered outside the building, holding numerous signs including, "Fire The Pervert David Letterman."</blockquote>

If I were in NYC and wanted to protest Mr. Letterman, I'd get in his audience and BOO his lousy humor. If I were to protest outside of Ed Sullivan's Theater, I would remind the AUDIENCE to rebuke Letterman because <strong>to tolerate perversion is to participate as perverts</strong>. Understood, a soap box is reason enough for Letterman to ridicule whoever makes use. But putting the audience on defensive is a downer, forcing them to at least reject the premise if not accept it. Going to the Letterman Show for lighthearted humor would no longer be the public's excuse; those who attend do so as hardline vindictive Leftists.

But given Letterman and his supposed popularity in NYC, I choose to go elsewhere for my vacation, somewhere with lower tourist taxes that also boasts great museums, ballets, symphonies, shops. The best Broadway Musicals go on tour, so why bother going to Broadway? If NYC loves Letterman and boasts themselves the greatest thing ever, the rest of America has all the more reason to look at NYC with disdain. We've witnessed NYC abusing Conservatives who visit on business. Gov. Palin went there to support the professional foundations working with those living with autism. And Letterman is still ridiculing Palin for being seen in NYC.

Mirror, mirror on the wall; who's the fairest of them all? It ain't Letterman.

HE doth protest too much. This is how he "will try to do better." Letterman's apology is no more than what it was, regret for being rebuked, not remorse for being a perverted ass.

<blockquote>Long time listener first time caller.
With all due respect to Palin and our troops, how exactly have they died to retain our free speech? Kick the British out? Well, you can slag the Queen off in England today and they obviously never kicked the British out. Kept the Germans out? Hitler wouldn’t own America today if we didn’t attend WWII as Buchanan made clear in his controversial new book The Unnecessary War.
I’m glad our boys are fighting Islam abroad and I am proud they were noble enough to fight the Nazis but it’s hard to argue it’s affected our free speech in any way, shape or form.

</blockquote>

Yeah, I pretty much agree with you. And I thought Buchanan's book The Unecessary War was excellent and thought provoking.

Could you slag the Queen (or King) back when the soldiers did the kicking out? That would be more to the point, don’t ya think?

One point of free speech doesn’t prove anything any way. It has to be all free speech.

Dude, I check in with HotAir everyday, unless I am traveling, just cause it is a cool site...regardless of whether I am banned or not. I have been banned more often than not so....I am used to it...and it doesnt bother me much to be banned...as long as I make myself laugh telling the truth while I am allowed here...its all good. And I know you like it when I am here too. :)

<blockquote>Commented at C4P yet? HA is peanut on Governor Palin. No one on HA posted last week’s Exxon/TransCanada gas pipeline, a major Governor Palin achievement. Maybe because the result will not be obvious until decades from now. Has Rommie achieved an equivalent on energy as governor? MA healthcare do not look good and no other state governor is following. I am ‘cult like’ Governor Palin supporter because there is no other Pro-Life politician as pro-life as Governor Palin - pro-life in words and deeds.

Its hard to read your post dude. Is English your second or third language?

You dont really believe, as some Palintologists have comically described, that Palin "outsmarted" Exxon Oil? Oh for hell's sake people....GET A GRIP!!!

Yes, she is pro-life. I give her that.

Leader of the free world...not for a decade or so...and only if she buckles down and learns things.

A good portion of the Palin nuts just like her "cuz she's purdy". HA HA HA HA HA!!!!
