Obama on Iran: I cannot be silent, even though I was silent for three days

posted at 7:42 pm on June 15, 2009 by Allahpundit

High drama here as the president calls the Iranian government a “ticking time bomb” that must be dealt with now if America’s future is to be secure. No no, just kidding; that’s what he said about health care. Here we get a hard dose of Hopenchange caution-speak, acknowledging that the protesters have “inspired” Americans and that we respect Iran’s right to decide its own fate but that we’ll continue to pursue “tough” diplomacy with the regime on nukes no matter how odious Ahmadinejad might be. Hey, if we wanted a president who’d throw down the gauntlet and walk away in a situation like this, we would have elected the other guy. Sorry, Iranian kids.

Fun fact: Whereas The One was “shocked and outraged” by the murder of George Tiller, the most he can muster here for mass beatings and cold-blooded killings across Iran is that he’s “troubled.” Make of it what you will.

Oldsmobile with no AC for me, sitting on the “hump” between my brother and sister. The only thing that made the lack of AC tolerable was when it was moving and air was blowing in the windows. When you had to sit for hours in it, not moving, it was enough to make you think you were going to die. 3 bickering kids in a beastly hot car in a long gas line. I suddenly feel for my parents. They bore it well.

President Lee is expected to demand from Mr Obama a new commitment to maintain a protective nuclear umbrella over South Korea – and to ask for it in writing.

I recommend President Lee have several witnesses and have it notorized.

Daggett on June 15, 2009 at 8:32 PM

Give the guy a break people:

I, for one, absolutely understand 0bama’s reasons for finding this whole situation difficult and troubling.

After all, Ahmadinejad is one of his personal heroes, and they have many of the the same goals (destruction of Israel, destruction of American supremacy, bringing about the 12th imam, etc.) They only differ on precisely which methods to use in achieving these results.

How can anyone expect 0bama to do or say anything that wouldn’t harm his own agenda when he really wants to be able to do exactly the same things that Ahmadinejad (Chavez, Putin, etc. too) does.

Unfortunately for 0bama, he can’t yet be quite so blatant about his actions as the other guys.

Here is a great photo essay on events in Tehran:

This is just a preview of November 5, 2012 in America if we allow current trends to continue.

LegendHasIt on June 15, 2009 at 8:32 PM

I can’t imagine why

Supporters are unused to seeing a very articulate black man in a position of extreme power. It is satisfying to those who identify with him, and satisfying to those who feel guilty for their own successes or inadequacies. The satisfaction gained still more than compensates for what he actually says or does. Hopefully, as the spell wears off, sanity will prevail. Right now we’re in the grip of Diana mania.

Obama response: adequate at best, but completely passionless. I miss President Bush. He gets it. He seems to better understand the importance of freedom and what the Iranian people are fighting for.

This is real HOPE and CHANGE, people fighting for their FREEDOM, not for an expanded nanny state. No wonder the President doesn’t have a feel for what is going on.

Here’s how liberals rank the races (I think…) — those that don’t need help to those that really, really do.

1)Jews
2) Non-jewish Whites
3)North-east Asians
4)Indians
5) South-east Asians

100) Africans

102) American Blacks

TheBigOldDog on June 15, 2009 at 8:45 PM

Charles Krauthammer astutely pointed out how disingenuous Obama was when he drew a moral comparison between Iran’s decades of terror sponsoring and the United States’ involvement in the Iranian coup a half century ago. So throwing in support for the opposition party is, like, as bad as terrorism. Bad things happen when you flush the United States’ moral authority down the toilet.

I was in the car, so I listened to Obama’s comments about Iran on the radio. I actually pulled the car over, put it in park, and listened. It literally made me sick to my stomach. What I heard was the shaky, “ummmm” and “ahhhh” voice of a man either very far in over his head, or very conflicted about criticizing a tyrant and his violent authoritarian control. Whichever it is, it isn’t good. It isn’t good at all.

I am not troubled, I am POED and not because we need to help Iranians, (we should in some way) because Iranians at this point understand Freedom and Democracy and personal liberties more than the average American.

Yep. Israel has no choice – though, like you, I’m wary of Russia. But the absolute worst thing to be, today, is an ally of America. You get nothing but are required to live up to all sorts of rules that no one else has to live up to. It’s the worst of both worlds. And the laughable idea that Shrillary is assuring Israel that the US would strike if Israel were nuked, when Israel has a clear second strike capability in its subs, at the very least, is nothing but an insult of the highest order.

Israel’s first move, however, should be to leave the UN. That is where this whole process should start. And that is a shot across the bow that Israel is not going to play this stupid game anymore. If Israel remains in the UN, then they are just asking for problems.

Those that voted for 0bama have the blood of those Iranians who have already died as well as those around the world who will die due to the weakness of this empty suit with a teleprompter. When the Iranian government attempts to make good its promise to ‘wipe Israel from the map’, their blood will be on the hand of those that voted for 0bama. When North Korea destroys Seoul and takes over the Korean peninsula, that blood will be on the hands of those that voted for 0bama. When Putin rolls over the Ukraine and all the other eastern bloc countries that broke away from the USSR after Regean helped to bring down the bear, those deaths will too be on the hands of those the voted for 0bama. The world sees 0bama bow to the Saudis. Sees 0bama apologize to the world for America. They see him silent until the latest poll data comes out and they know. They know this man can not make a 3am decision and the the time is now because America will not be there to save the world this time. America will not be there to help stop the next Hitler. They know that 0bama only cares about securing his fascist agenda to enslave the free American people and will NOT stop them. Mark my words. In 6 months, the world will be in flames of war that we should be putting out now, not giving them more gasoline for the fire…

And the blood of all those that die are on each and every person that pulled that lever or put a mark next to 0bama’s name…

to quote the Bard…

Muster? You mean that fancy stuff he requests on hamburger?
You’ll only see raw, unbridled emotion when he is either
bowing to a Saudi king or when ordering lunch.

Obama on Iran: I cannot be silent, even though I was silent for three days

That’s quite reminiscent of the outrage Obama showed after the days months he knew about the AIG bonuses before the public.

I actually pulled the car over, put it in park, and listened. It literally made me sick to my stomach.

I’m glad you pulled the car over and parked. Keep that in mind when tuning in to the news while driving.

Obama is a naive child on the world stage that is filled with veteran, calculating, deceitful, and very dangerous characters………..

……… You can see without a teleprompter, he struggles to put together a coherent thought that he doesn’t want to have to go back and change later, taking both sides of the issue, and trying not to offend anyone.

He is strong and confident when he is taking over American companies backed by a Democratic Congress, he has the full force of the United States Federal Bureaucracy, FBI, State Department, IRS, etc. to due his bidding or else they loose their jobs……….

………. but put him in the ring with despots on the world stage, you can literally see him crap his pants.

Typical Chicago punk……….

…… talks tough when surrounded by union goons, but put him in a fight he can not control, and his true character shines bright.

Take a bow, King Tut, the world stage sees you for exactly what you are………….
