I've been in the Army for 8 years and I had to cry when I saw it. It wasn't the violence that invoked a emotional response, but the situation that Iranians are currently in. I would surely support the downfall of the Iranian regime and the rise of a true republic in it's place. However, it's hard to watch countrymen fighting amongst themselves. While in Iran the police must be fought. I think in every situation possible the rioters/revolutionaries have to take any opposition prisoner. Being a soldier I completely understand this principle. That police officer made his decision to work for the oppressive regime, but however, you can never know his true intentions. He might in reality side with the protesters but his positions demands his response. That's why I thought it was important that be it people who sided with the current government or just rioters who couldn't stand by a man being beaten to death pulled him aside and rescued him; immediately taking care of his injuries. It hurts more to think of how this current situation relates to that of American history. Be it the American Revolution and the American Civil War. During both those periods it was found that family, countrymen found themselves on the opposite side of a barrel. In conclusion; I hope American Special Forces and CIA operatives are SECRETLY supporting the downfall of the current Iranian government.
