Video: Palin on Alaska’s new natural-gas pipeline and the dangers of Obamanomics
posted at 1:00 pm on June 13, 2009 by Allahpundit
‘Cuda fans have been begging us to post this, partly because it shows how effective she can be when she’s comfortable during an interview and partly because it’s an opportunity to tout her triumph in bringing Exxon on board to help build Alaska’s ambitious new natural-gas pipeline. Credit to Blitzer and CNN for giving her an opportunity to talk policy at length; the obligatory questions about the Letterman trainwreck don’t come until the very end, after an extended discussion of energy and an elaboration on what she meant when she said the tentacles of federal aid to the states will lead to “controlling the people.” More like this, please.

I thought this was a mis-post from the Durbin thread.
He sees green all around, too!

You must be a slow learner then, as I am not yet on your “do not respond” list.

Thanks! That made me laugh.

Yep- I use humor to get through things. It does help. I love anyone that can make me laugh.

You’re one of the better folks to come in the last enrollment. I’ve only been posting since the previous open enrollment myself. But, you argue well, with reason, and politely. Welcome!
massrighty on June 13, 2009 at 7:53 PM
Very funny. That list is actually pretty short. Strangelet, aptly named, the others don’t often make sense so I don’t know how anyone can respond to them.
Cindy Munford on June 13, 2009 at 7:54 PM
Haven’t heard much from the aptly named one lately. Banned?

I have not seen strangelet since mid-May. It is on my “inactive or banned” list. I need to do some more research.
Loxodonta on June 13, 2009 at 8:00 PM
Are you hot or cool?
Loxodonta on June 13, 2009 at 8:01 PM
While on this subject; a thread of “who’s been banned” would be fun. As would a “who should be banned” thread. We could even vote some people off the island.
massrighty on June 13, 2009 at 8:02 PM
too much of a sideshow? Really? Bimbo eruptions weren’t a sideshow? Billy Carter wasn’t a sideshow? Look, if all we have left to criticize is her voice, it will be smooth sailing for her. If and when she were to announce the MSM will have no more dry powder to shoot at her with. Everything that could be said about her will have already been said. Then it becomes a policy debate between her and Barry or Billary. I know who wins that debate.
Fed45 on June 13, 2009 at 8:04 PM
What is so bizarre to me, is that people are paid to troll sites. I am new to blogging, so I find it so odd. They aren’t even good at it!

I have tended to avoid the Palin threads until recently for two reasons. First, some of her supporters have been so hyped they seemed intolerant of any doubters, and I’m uncommitted for 2012. But they seem to be more calm. The other reason is the heavy trolling of the Palin threads, but that also seems to have reduced. One of the worst anti-Palin trolls seems to have disappeared. Was it The Wall? Hope it didn’t sneak back in.

I haven’t heard that Strangelet got banned, I am pretty sure there would be much rejoicing, although in fairness she has done nothing to deserve to be banned. Annoying doesn’t count.
Cindy Munford on June 13, 2009 at 8:17 PM
No can do. Without the words scrolling past, he hasn’t a clue what he’s supposed to say.
Like a number of others here, I too seem to be immune to his speechifying charm. I just don’t get it. I am not carried away by his delivery, I find his voice to be somewhat annoyingly nasal, and the uplifted chin makes him look condescending – a posture that in fact often matches his words. And the words… he relies on straw men rather than actually making arguments for his positions, a sign of weak thinker. And he talks about himself as if everything were about him. Narcissistic beyond belief. UGH!!!
ProfessorMiao on June 13, 2009 at 8:17 PM
Are you referring to The Wall? Did it disappear and reappear?

My husband is making dinner, actualy grilling it, on this cold cold June night in L.A, CA so this is a nice place to hang out and chat… even if with just myself :)
Here’s a joke my friend sent me…
I asked my friend’s little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be president of the United State some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, ‘If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?”
She replied, ‘I’d give food and houses to all the homeless people.’
Her parents beamed, and said, “Welcome to the Democrat Party!”
“Wow…what a worthy goal!” I told her.
I continued, “But you don’t have to wait until you’re President to do that. You can come over to my house, mow the lawn, pull weeds, and sweep my yard, and I’ll pay you $50. Then I’ll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out. You can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house.’
She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, ‘Why doesn’t the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?’
I smiled and said, “Welcome to the Republican Party.”
Her parents still aren’t speaking to me.
CCRWM on June 13, 2009 at 8:41 PM

Loxodonta on June 13, 2009 at 8:51 PM

ProfessorMiao on June 13, 2009 at 8:55 PM
I’m still trying to classify that one. Need to do some research. At this point, my impression is it is an anti-Semite. Do you recall any thread where it behaved really badly?
Loxodonta on June 13, 2009 at 9:01 PM
I asked about Lizza because she/he seemed to be doing the “hateful hit-and-run.” (Throw a bomb, ignore the responses, throw another one, skip to a new thread.)
massrighty on June 13, 2009 at 9:02 PM
Cheney/Palin 2012!!
Keep it up Gov Palin! Scaring the crap out of liberals since 2007, the more you talk the more hussein is called out for the tool he is!
Double Snap!
christene on June 13, 2009 at 9:05 PM
Yes. Saw that. I’m trying to assemble links to all posts on the worst of them, so if anyone has any doubt, I can cite supporting evidence.
I don’t normally engage trolls. However, SouthernGal (banned 6/12/09) really got me angry in the Holocaust Museum thread, so I started following it around and posted it’s own comments from other threads that demonstrated its hypocrisy. I confess I was being a vengeful stalker, but what a nasty piece of work that one was. I am still feeling so thankful to Ed Morrissey for his quick use of the ban hammer. It was only here for a couple of very disruptive days.
Loxodonta on June 13, 2009 at 9:10 PM
No, I can’t say I have. I may have leapt to a wrong conclusion on the basis of this:
You might be right that it is merely an antisemite, but I can’t imagine any conservative ruling out the possibility of war with any nation. Only nutty naive pacificists do that, and they are invariably on the left.
ProfessorMiao on June 13, 2009 at 9:11 PM
Wow, Blitzer really knows how to stick to the script, doesn’t he?
Jim Treacher on June 13, 2009 at 9:12 PM
Full credit to you, for any part you had in that banning.
I spent a couple of hours trying to irritate SG into stepping over the line.
massrighty on June 13, 2009 at 9:14 PM
I guess that’s not fair; he did give her a chance to speak. It was just annoying that she explained, once again, that it was Willow at that game and not Bristol, and he still said, “But Letterman says didn’t mean Willow.” Yes, we know he says that, beardo!
Jim Treacher on June 13, 2009 at 9:17 PM
I find it rather amusing (I wish I could be astonished by it) that the media pretty seem to be taking Letterman at his word when he says he didn’t mean Willow, even though he couldn’t bring himself to say that he was wrong, or at least confused, about which daughter was at the game. It all comes across as so completely disingenuous.
ProfessorMiao on June 13, 2009 at 9:19 PM
Plus, even if you give him that he didn’t know which daughter it was, it’s still reprehensible filth. Bristol is only 18; even if she were 55, it’s all nasty. I wish more in the press would get this point.
massrighty on June 13, 2009 at 9:22 PM
The more I learn about her the more I like her.
The more I hear her speak the more I see why leftist are so terrified of her they have to try and politically destroy her.
The more I see her post McCain the better.
lanesmerge on June 13, 2009 at 9:24 PM
He wasn’t anything she couldn’t handle. In the headlines earlier they had Olby going off on Gov. Palin, I was looking for that line you had the other day about not being able to call her “Sir” but I couldn’t remember what thread it was on. It was a classic.
Cindy Munford on June 13, 2009 at 9:24 PM
I saw that post, too. I need to do more research.
Loxodonta on June 13, 2009 at 9:25 PM
Oh for sure. But it does (lamely and not credibly try to) “disappear” the accusation of making jokes about statuatory rape.
ProfessorMiao on June 13, 2009 at 9:27 PM
You’re right, of course; that is the purpose of the “oops, wrong daughter” defense.
I love that that’s all they have, along with the equally lame “she made them public figures by having them appear with her” defense.
It leaves them trying to defend stupid, cruel hatefulness with those slender reeds, and with the lamest kind of moral equivalence arguments… (Oh, yeah – well, some conservative said something about Chelsea Clinton 15 years ago – it’s the same, so this must be OK!)
I’ve been raging about the whole “everyone does it/it must be OK argument” for a long time; it seems to be getting worse, lately.
massrighty on June 13, 2009 at 9:35 PM
While you did not intend this, I note that a beard is a term for a woman who provides cover for a homosexual man. To me, this is an interesting coincidence, because in this case, the MSM are providing cover for a man who is perversely attacking a conservative woman and her underage daughter.
Currently, Yahoo! News is still headlining this story as:
Palin flap boosting Letterman
David Letterman’s war of words with Sarah Palin could prove to be a big turning point.
And they show a picture of a laughing, friendly looking Letterman, but an unattractive angry looking Palin.
There is such a strange dynamic in the media these days:
How dare you say you oppose Gay Marriage, Carrie Prejean! You must be destroyed!
How dare you joke about any liberal woman, you sexist!
Hey! Let’s rape the top 10 conservative women!
Isn’t it fun to think about knocking up the 14-year old daughter of that slutty Governor?
What’s the matter conservatives? Can’t you take a joke?
Sometimes, the whiplash really gets me.
Loxodonta on June 13, 2009 at 9:39 PM
It would be an infuriating argument if it were true. It’s even worse, I think, because it isn’t true at all. “Everyone” doesn’t do it – liberals do. Palin pointed to the double standard along political lines in her interview with Matt Lauer, and NOW has stirred from its deep sleep, so maybe, just maybe, things will start to change.
ProfessorMiao on June 13, 2009 at 9:41 PM
Just watched the interview for a second time and caught a line i missed the first time (the purpose of the stimulus package was to stimulate growth of Government)ya think.
heshtesh on June 13, 2009 at 9:44 PM
Even NOW (which should have been vigorously defending Governor Palin since last year) couldn’t resist throwing a little dig at Rush into their condemnation of Letterman.

Geochelone on June 13, 2009 at 10:01 PM
Stop thinking that the NAGs are doing us a favor.
For whatever reason they defended her, you can be sure there’s an ulterior motive.
WE are the enemy to these lib groups and nothing’s gonna change that.
As Rush says “Stop thinking that we can make them like us. They don’t like us and never will like us.”
Lanceman on June 13, 2009 at 10:01 PM
I’m with you there, Lanceman – they’re not doing us a favor; they’re not even being true to their stated goals. They are just looking for the cheap credibility of grabbing low-hanging fruit:
“hey everybody, look at us – we even have Sarah Palin’s back!”
Not fooled.
massrighty on June 13, 2009 at 10:04 PM
Punch drunk humor like Lettermans is heartless and vapid. Never taking into consideration how the completely innocent Willow might feel about it. He owes her a huge apology.
Credit to CNN for a straight up interview. Palin is hitting all the right marks as far as I can tell. More like this indeed.
mike_NC9 on June 13, 2009 at 10:12 PM
Actually the 20,000 were in Auburn NY to celebrate Alaska’s 50 anniv. of statehood. What made the Bitterman issue even more hurtful was Gov. Palin and her family visited Tudds house and the National Women Suffrage Museum the day before.
Clyde5445 on June 13, 2009 at 10:14 PM
It is one of the miracles of life, that once ban hammered, something so rank can smell so sweet.
Loxodonta on June 13, 2009 at 10:18 PM
NOW couldn’t even chastise Letterman without taking a shot at Rush. I am pretty sure there have been instances where NOW should have spoken out but they couldn’t overcome their politics to uphold they stated reason for existence.
Cindy Munford on June 13, 2009 at 10:19 PM

“Well, democrats are for tax cuts too, Tim.”

Clearly, their goal is to minimize their grassroots enthusiasm and fundraising ability.

Actually, the GOP powers-that-be despise the “grassroots” or the “base” as much as the Democrats do. It’s just that the GOP leadership has to count on the base to win nationally. Once elected, they can safely ignore the base until next election cycle.
