Video: The Public Plan Deception

The guys at Verum Serum strike again with this new video of Democrats and their think-tank allies talking about the real goal of the “public plan” in ObamaCare, the new health plan getting rolled out in Congress this month. The White House says the plan will “keep private insurers honest,” but it seems the dishonesty comes from the Oval Office and Capitol Hill:
The people who designed this approach were very honest about it, as you can see in the above video. None of them talk about “keeping private insurers honest”; instead, they’re openly scornful of private insurance and want to rid us of them as soon as they are politically able to do so. The one couldn’t even bring himself to call the public plan a Trojan Horse, so obvious is its intent.
The entire premise of the public plan, as designed by its originators, was to crowd out the private insurers by undercutting them on price. After all, the government can take losses on the plan for as long as they need to drive everyone else out of the market. Once that process completes, voila! Single-payer remains as the only option.
Time to get on the phones and start telling your Senators and Congressment to vote no on the public plan. We will start next week on The Ed Morrissey Show. Get ready for some activism.

I followed a link from Instapundit to Bloggingheads about this. Megan McCardle was talking about what a bad idea it was. Some Obamabot actually tried to tell me that Obama does not support a single payer system. etc blah blah blah.
I wonder what libertarians like Megan thought they were getting when they voted for Obama? And I wonder why some Obamabot actually thinks that I believe a word Obama says?
Terrye on June 12, 2009 at 5:58 PM
Let me ask you this. Are there 50 million Americans without health insurance?
SouthernGal on June 12, 2009 at 5:59 PM
So much for the Obama admin wanting healthy citizens…
“The Obama administration has decided to keep secret the locations of nearly four dozen coal ash storage sites that pose a threat to people living nearby.”

candy:
I have a friend who lost his health insurance when he lost his job. So, I went on line and downloaded the form here in Indiana to help him get state supported insurance. He would not even fill it out. He was not interested. I think that people are underestimating how many people just do not want to get health insurance from the government, any government.

Health Care Lie: ‘47 Million Uninsured Americans’
canditaylor68 on June 12, 2009 at 6:06 PM
Penalties like not having auto insurance. Yeah, I can imagine. A lot of people that don’t have insurance CAN’T get insurance because of pre-exist conditions or they just can’t afford it at the levels when they actually CAN get it, but have diabetes, HBP, etc. I think the solution is in the insurance companies themselves. Make it beneficial for them to compete for OUR money. Like lowes or home depot, if you can get the coverage for cheaper with another company, you will go with said company. Competition…capitalist county…makes sense.

I hope to God you’re right. I really, really, really hope America wakes up before it’s too late (if it isn’t already). I’m losing faith that there are enough freedom-loving, independent souls left to fight for personal liberty and the free enterprise system. The smug sanctimonious collectivist fools among us certainly think they’ve won. I don’t know how they think they’ll fund their plans when they’ve properly subdued the evil, greedy, rich Republicans and we stop earning enough to feed their vampiric programs. Then no one will have health care. But at least it will be “fair,” right?

I think this is why 6 million are without jobs. Makes it a bit easier for Obama to push this crud on Americans. When you have those out there, desperate, and in need of income, and health coverage, that desperation speaks for them. This, every bit of it, was planned, and being executed. It’s just sad that those, like Southern Gal, can’t seem to see thru the facade, to what this really is.

As to the “smug sanctimonious collectivist fools,” like our dearest SG, pay them no mind. If they get what they’re asking for, they will find it not-at-all to their liking – for the brief moment they have before the monsters (whom they’ve worked so hard to put into power!) pull the ladder up behind. Just google up the video interviews with ex-KGB defector Yuri Bezmenov. If they don’t, then we get what we’re asking for. Not quite win-win, I know, but not lose-lose either.

Thank you, Ed. My blood pressure can go back to normal now. I can’t imagine anyone not loving this country, but I know there are a lot of them out there. And a couple in the White House.
mccain hit on this back on the trail, but then he wanted to tax the benefits that employers already provided and he lost me. Allow the taxpayers a credit if they do not have insurance, leave the others that have benefits alone and give the credit to the business that provides the benefit, so that the taxpayers can have the money in hand, thru tax credits/cuts, to visit the health insurance company/store and purchase the best plan for them.

She does not care what the Constitution says, by her own admission. She’s anti-American and hates American ideals (while somehow “loving” its people). She is most certainly a socialist who is gleeful about the fall of the great United States.
aero on June 12, 2009 at 6:28 PM
The government doesn’t “provide” anything to those individuals (citizens or otherwise) who can’t afford it — it just forces the rest of us to provide it to them (by taking our money to pay for it).
But why stop at having us provide only healthcare and internet services to every “American,” regardless of income? Shouldn’t everybody have a right to be provided with a nice home too, regardless of income? And how about a nice car? And certainly everybody deserves to have nice clothes to wear? And a cell phone? And a big-screen, HD t.v.? And video games to play on the t.v.? And quality child care when they want to go out? And several weeks of vacations each year in nice resort locations? . . . .
Why shouldn’t every person in this country be provided with everything they need to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle, regardless of income? Surely all of us who work and save and invest have a moral (if not a legal) obligation to turn our money over to the government so that it can finance a nice lifestyle for everyone who can’t or won’t work to provide it for themselves?
Are you really this stupid, SG, or do you just play a clueless moron on the internet?

Then double your taxes, and the other liberals can do the same, that way you get what you want, health care for everyone, and you get to feel good about doing it yourself.
You see, you are more then happy to use other peoples money, to pay for what you want.
Over half the people in the U.S. do not pay taxes, and coincidentally, 80% of them vote democrat.
So, to help you out, the ones who don’t pay, want the other to pay…and as you can so easily see, we eventually run out of our money to pay for your “play”.
Time to go to work…put down the fried chicken, taters, bagels, sweet tea, and produce…

The trolls are missing the point of the thread – revealed by the linked video.
What’s the point of the thread, you ask?
It’s not the MERITS of a single payer system.
It’s the fact the Dem’s and their think-tank allies know they have to LIE ABOUT THAT FACT that this is what they want to implement in the US.
Got that, trolls?
Are you still missing the point?
The thread is entitled “The Public Plan DECEPTION”, not “Is Single Payer Better Than The Current System?”
Obama and Co. are LYING about their Health Care plan.
They want to drive private insurance out of business, and they will openly talk about what they want amongst themselves when they think the country is not paying attention, then they will turn around and lie about what they intend to do when speaking to the country itself.
They’re not fooling us any more than you trolls are fooling anybody.

Even if there were, is it morally right to force health care on everyone, and is it morally right to force others to pay for it?
The answer is no. A need does not translate into a right, nor are such needs immune from market forces, no matter how pressing those needs are.
I’d like to direct you to the C.S. Lewis quote above. That is exactly the kind of tyranny we are living in today. It will only get worse under government health care.
