Video: The Public Plan Deception
posted at 2:14 pm on June 12, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
The guys at Verum Serum strike again with this new video of Democrats and their think-tank allies talking about the real goal of the “public plan” in ObamaCare, the new health plan getting rolled out in Congress this month. The White House says the plan will “keep private insurers honest,” but it seems the dishonesty comes from the Oval Office and Capitol Hill:
The people who designed this approach were very honest about it, as you can see in the above video. None of them talk about “keeping private insurers honest”; instead, they’re openly scornful of private insurance and want to rid us of them as soon as they are politically able to do so. The one couldn’t even bring himself to call the public plan a Trojan Horse, so obvious is its intent.
The entire premise of the public plan, as designed by its originators, was to crowd out the private insurers by undercutting them on price. After all, the government can take losses on the plan for as long as they need to drive everyone else out of the market. Once that process completes, voila! Single-payer remains as the only option.
Time to get on the phones and start telling your Senators and Congressment to vote no on the public plan. We will start next week on The Ed Morrissey Show. Get ready for some activism.

That’s a canard. They drive over here in droves and pay out of pocket to use the U.S. health care system every single day. The ones who don’t would do it if they could afford it. Believe me, many many Canadians are worried sick that the safety valve is about to be shut off.

So voter, and registration fraud is something to be proud of? Embezzelment is something to be proud of? Claiming to be bipartisan, while campaigning for Obama is something to be proud of? Taking tax payer money from ALL tax payers, while only representing the left, is something to be proud of? Cheering on those who don’t pay taxes, and punishing those who do, with more, and more taxes, is something to be proud of?
Wow!!! No morals is a point of being proud now. Just….wow!!!

How do you feel about an elite tier of politicians, judges, entertainment figures, etc. not participating in this program when it goes through, but having their own private, rapid, more comprehensive coverage and care? Are you willing to tell us you think this will not be the case?

capejasmine on June 12, 2009 at 4:57 PM
The ones that do also don’t mind bending over and paying upwards of 60% in taxes to get it, which is why their standard of living in Canada is lower than ours. Also, they are much healthier in terms of lifestyle, weight, diet, excercise, smoking, etc. than the U.S. You don’t see nearly the need for seatbelt extenders at amusement parks in Canada that you do in the US.

We know. Liberals are not big fans of that old raggedy piece of paper that keeps them from doing the stuff they want to do because what they want to do goes completely against the ideals upon which this country was founded. The ideals that made it the greatest, freest, most prosperous, most opportunity-filled country that has ever existed on this planet.
aero on June 12, 2009 at 4:57 PM
The biggest joke is the government keeps taking more and more hard earned money and imposing more and more regulation on insurance and health care industries driving the cost up. It’s a setup that’s been in the works for a long time.
They made health care expensive, made us poorer and now tell us that they’ll fix the problem by taxing us more and dictating our treatment.

I was just thinking that, when I saw your post. You are 100% correct. It’s easy to sit up all high, and mighty, and not pay taxes, or work, or do for oneself, then essentially turning oneself into a victim, that judges others for not having empathy.
Pathetic. God gave you gifts just like He did anyone. The fact that you sit here, and choose not to use those gifts, but whine because you want to take what others make, or have, without working for it, makes you pitiful.

The reality is that there are tons of problem with the system in Canada. The bigger reality is that most people wouldn’t trade system with the States.
Some of it for fear I am sure (the US system is demonized, think Sicko and all), but some of it is because people actually do like the plan conceptually or generally.
Once you start going into the details, you can always find one or two (or ten or twenty) people that had a bad experience. But the vast majority of people would not want to switch to a US style plan.

Let’s be realistic, the power has and always will be in the hands of the baby boomers.
They need insurance, and they don’t want to pay for it, they are retiring at a remarkable rate.
They figure, why not stick the younger with the bill, they (boomers) won’t be around but for 20 years…

That is fine, you are an obamanite, so that is a given. Just remember, despite your hate for this country, you still enjoy the freedoms and the protections that our military provides, so fart out of your mouth, you’ve been doing it all afternoon here, but I hope that one day, you will pull your head out of your ass and understand why this country is so great.
