Video: Glenn Beck feeds Paul Krugman an “extremist” crap sandwich
posted at 7:47 pm on June 12, 2009 by Allahpundit
Richly deserved, and I say that as someone who’s goofed on Beck’s more febrile moments myself. If you missed the Krugman column in Headlines earlier, read it now; the lying turd went out of his way to mention O’Reilly and Beck without bothering to inform his readers that the Holocaust Museum shooter evidently had murderous designs on Fox News, too. Even now, I can’t decide whether the left’s extremism blame game is being played in bad faith or in “good.” Is it a simple question of dishonesty, holding people like O’Reilly responsible in order to score cheap points against an enemy whom they secretly believe is blameless? Or does their natural condescension lead them to assume in earnest that right-wingers are essentially stupid, violent, and “easily led,” and therefore putty in the hands of people like Beck? The fact that Krugman, Frank Rich, et al. feel comfortable spitting venom at the right week after week in the NYT and then pointing fingers at FNC for “incitement” when some nut pops off can only be explained, I think, by their belief that no one who reads a cosmopolitan leftist newspaper like the Times would ever do anything as gauche as pulling a gun on someone from the other side. That is to say, this is as much about Krugman’s and his audience’s perceptions of their own elitism as anything else. Either that or Krugman thinks he’s incapable of inciting anyone because he’s incapable of persuading anyone. In which case it’s high time he found a new line of work, no?
Exit question via Christine Flowers: How come all jihadist killers act alone but all “right-wing” killers have a million accomplices?

I have to tell you, I find the younger generations penchant for outing themselves on the Net to be completely incomprehensible.

Most of us are too busy with that little thing called a job to “twitter” or “facebook” or whatever the new fad is. Someone has to pay the taxes for those sucking off unemployment for 55 weeks.
Capitalist Infidel on June 12, 2009 at 8:51 PM
I rarely give a flip of others opinion of what I read, listen to, nor watch. I happened on to Glenn Beck back in his CNN days. Used to write him to please have Michelle Malkin on his show (after the little dust-up with Geraldomundo). One day, I believe after he moved over to Fox, I tuned in and there she was…that was also about the same time I decided I could not tolerate O’Reilly another time. Forget the schtick and histrionics. It’s the message and his guests I’m interested. With such a multitude of information flying about it’s very hard to focus on one real issue and it’s real meaning. He’s been able to do that with uncanny percentages. But, like every other TV personality, he’s not for everyone.

If Krugman really wants to hear inflammatory and over-the-top language about America he should spend more time in the faculty lounge at Princeton.
I’m quite sure he’d hear some hair-raising views about the previous Administration.

I wish you would stop focusing so much on those who criticize you and focus more on those who appreciate you.
You are an independent thinker, Allahpundit, and otherwise quite an odd person, who’s statements bother people from the Left through the Right. Some of those people insult you. So?
When your critics are right, learn from them. When they’re wrong, wear their insults with pride.
You often make me laugh and think and learn. I and others give you thanks and appreciation, even though we disagree with you at times. Yet, I read no acknowledgment of anything positive from you. Perhaps I’m missing something. If so, I apologize. Or, perhaps you’re missing something. But I really hope you aren’t missing the positive being sent your way. Life is so short.

I can partly agree with you on this, but go back to when Bush started to lose the Goldwater/Reagan core of the Conservative Movement that he held through Recount Hell and the early part of the War on Terror. It was 2003-2004, when Bush and Rove decided to saddle the nation with a galactically huge unfunded mandate called Medicare Part D (iirc)- “Free Pills for Grandma”.
Yes, he told us all he was going to do it and yes, there were those on the right who warned us about what would happen, but we defended Bush anyway because of the old Leninist doctrine of “No Enemies on the Right” and group solidarity going into an election.
The Fiscal Conservatives were prescient, including Rush, when they asked again and again, how this was going to be paid for. There was no answer except more borrowing-in time of war when first priority should have been to pursue the Iraq war to its conclusion. We set aside our worries about Free Pills because of the overrriding need to defeat Flipper and reelect Bush.
Setting Katrina aside, Bush broke the Base with Harriet Miers and La Migracion (although, in retrospect, you don’t get Scalito without Miers acting as sacrificial lamb first).
And yes, Obama makes George Bush look like Howard Roark in comparison. I keep wondering where Peter Keating and Ellsworth Toohey have their offices in the West Wing.

Recently made the decision to not Facebood nor Twitter some months ago….don’t need any more naval fuzz staring moments in my life. Can’t say how many passwords I carry around in my head but it’s getting really cluttered. Although, during the recent storms in Dallas my daughter was able to Facebook even when her phone and cellphone died? I haven’t a clue but the message got passed on to me via various sources that she was safe.

That’s the mantra of the left. EVERYONE one the right is a bible thumping, gun carrying, knuckle dragger. The left is composed entirely of elite intelligentsia, who embrace diversity of thought (as long as it agrees with them), race (as long as they stay in their place; which is not next door), and religion (as long as nothing is required and the Jews stay in the back).

Allah just amuses himself by teasing the plebs from his ivory tower, and gets hits in the process. Frankly, I find it a little amusing myself.
I don’t think he’s the sort to disregard the truth someone speaks just because he doesn’t like them. If he doesn’t like Glenn, he’s said good things often enough about him to justify my faith in his curious sort of objectivity.

faraway on June 12, 2009 at 9:14 PM
No one is right 100% of the time, and Glenn is the first one to admit when he’s wrong. I’ve been listening to Glenn on the radio for the last three years and now on Fox. The thing that most impresses me about Glenn is the simplicity of his message- the absolute void of common sense and how do we begin to hold our so-called leaders accountable. I like the fact that he’s not a cheerleader for the GOP. I don’t know if you ever hear him on the radio or even watch him consistently on Fox, but you should because he’s the real deal.

Rumor has it he’s a New Yorker
He’s a reckless lawyer
I hear he carries several whips
He’s a sultan of Wall Street with women at his fingertips
They say he’s nearly seven feet tall
And yet quite graceful……all in all
I’m told he waddles when he walks
And often twitches when he talks
Is he a dolt? No, he’s very deep!
Oh, Hotair’s losing sleep!
Is he a hero or a turncoat skunk
A fighting Patton or an Obama kool-aid imbibing drunk?
I’m sure he’s flatulent and crass
Here, here, the man’s a horse’s ass!
No, no, he’s neighborly and kind
But quite eclectically inclined
Is he vulgarian or sleek?
Authoritarian or meek?
He may be shrewd
Or he may just be crude
I hear he’s steely as you please
I hear he’s really Japanese
It’s possible our hero flirts with danger
How he wishes KP would flirt with he
Methinks the evening will grow even stranger
Ah, mais oui

Glen asked Randy the caller why he didn’t “get off the couch”. The caller said on the radio show today that the reason he was hesitant to “rise up” and fight, was because of the beating that Joe the Plumber got at the hands of the median and the political machine. One could point to SP’s treatment and I think this is true. I am afraid. I work in the energy conservation field. I cannot speak truth to power without losing my job. I am not articulate to go head to head with the uber liberals that pay me. Bush is stupid. Fox is stupid. Rush is a stupid. yada yada. Cap and trade is a great idea. Someone is going to notice that I never buy the carbon credits offered for sale. I do not know how much longer I can keep up the charade.

Cindy Munford on June 12, 2009 at 9:39 PM
You are correct.
Knucklehead on June 12, 2009 at 9:39 PM
I fail to understand why anyone continues to question whether the liberals are sincere in their accusations against those who disagree with them or purposely playing a game. They are without character and dishonest people who use any excuse to make anyone who opposes them look crazy or ridiculous. They know exactly what they are doing; they wholeheartedly embrace the idea of repeating a lie until someone believes it—knowing, always, full well, it is a lie. This administration has mounted a full assault on conservatives or anyone else who oppose them, and the many media hacks like Krugman are doing their will.
Glen Beck is a sane voice they hope to silence. God bless Glen Beck.

some of us do….
TheBigOldDog on June 12, 2009 at 9:46 PM
I had always thought the thing to say when you ask for an example and someone gives it to you is: Thank you.
But then that is civil and polite, no need for that in the modern world, obviously…
Being right on these things is no joy, there is no good in it. Seeing one’s society decay around you in a predictable fashion is not good, not nice, not sweet, and gives you no moral superiority because you are examining the obvious signs and drawing conclusions. And if you trust your ability to analyze you do take your conclusions seriously… I do not fly off the handle, but prepare prudently for what is coming. And if Glenn Beck speaks his mind and gets some of the general analysis right, then, for all his act, I cannot see how he can be pleased, either.
There is only one thing at the end of this course of events and no way to predict the outcome beyond that. It has been called many different things when it recurs in human history. It is that it recurs, multiple times, across all human cultures that makes the trends disturbing. We have not changed in those centuries and even tens of centuries. That we are in one of those cycles is not good, not sweet and not nice as I do not wish this for my fellow citizens of the Republic. We can step back on this path, but that requires recognizing we are on it.
To be different you must act differently.
To conserve the values of society you must do so and use them.
Civility is returned.
Incivility is disdained.
One is polite to those who exhibit neither.
And when a fight is brought to you, you end it, for good.
Thus when you ask for something and it is provided you say: Thank you. No matter what your emotions do to you. Because that is civilized: you are civil. No one can do that for you. Civilization depends on YOU being civil… it is hard to do, that is why it is priceless.

This is a tough thread. The Krugman part is easy, I think, but the exist question is hard: How come all jihadist killers act alone but all “right-wing” killers have a million accomplices?

I was thrilled when Glenn Beck was hired by Fox, since that meant I could officially deprogram CNN from my television into oblivion. Glenn always makes me laugh and I really enjoy his show; however, I’m not on board with getting behind a new 3rd party.
Glenn should not take Hannity’s spot. I love Hannity too. Sean is consistent & can be counted on to support the Republican candidate. Also, he believes that a 2 party system is the only way we will be able to beat Obama & win the next election. He is right.
So let’s just say I’m glad Fox has both of these guys.

I’ve listened to Glenn Beck for several years. The thing I like about Glenn is he isn’t afraid to look like a nut. He says what he believes and sometimes he believes it far before there is ample/any evidence, leaving him open for lots of eye-rolling/ridicule. It doesn’t help that he says things most Americans don’t want to think about because it casts shadows on their blissful oblivion. Then, very often, his ‘predictions’ which are really very astute observations and deductions, come to pass. He bears watching.
Also, Glenn is a ‘believer’. He believes the Bible and end time prophecies and isn’t ashamed to say so, not that he is saying we are in them, but he does acknowledge them and the possibilities. Talk about putting himself out for ridicule. Even though the vast majority of Americans claim belief, (according to polls) people tend to shy away from discussing it, for fear of having eyes rolled at them, I guess. But Glenn is fearless. Anyway, I’d bet that doesn’t endear him to AP, him being atheist and all. ;)
Me, too Lox. Sure, he can torque me off, mainly when he posts the Pope’s picture with any and every negative Catholic related post as if the Pope did or said the absurd thing, but then he makes some really hilarious caption for some picture on another thread and I can’t help but almost get over it. Okay, sometimes it takes a few days, but I do get over it. Heck, I like him so much, I light a candle for him every Sunday. Sorry, Allah. :) /setting herself up for eye-rolling.
Yes, and now it is running over and over in my head. Thanks a lot!

Krugman & Co. don’t see the politics of two sides. They really believe their position is good, and the default position of any decent person. T/4, anyone who disagrees is evil. That would be anyone to the right of John McCain.

Pittsburgh wins the Stanley Cup!
IIRC, this is one (if not the only) times a game 7 road team has won in any sport… Fluery made an incredible last seconds diving save to win the game… Pittsburgh is now title town (barf!)

The tradition of the handshake line after a series is still one of the classiest things in all of pro sports (hear that King James?)….

I started to ask if you were for Pittsburgh but the (barf!) clued me in. Well they have had quite a year.
