Netanyahu gives ground on Palestinian statehood

So reports Eli Lake, who says that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will make an important concession this weekend in accepting the idea of a Palestinian state.  Israeli governments have previously accepted the two-state solution as their official position, but Netanyahu’s conservative coalition has generally opposed it.  Netanyahu has not renounced previous Israeli policy since taking office in March, but the public acceptance of the plan will be seen as a “major shift”:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a major shift, will accept the notion of a Palestinian state — a policy pushed by the Obama administration but resisted until now by Mr. Netanyahu, Israeli officials and Americans briefed on the Israeli leader’s thinking said.

The policy reversal, which is expected to go public this weekend, could help restart negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians and allow the Israeli leader to steer a course between Mr. Obama’s view and those of his own hawkish base.

The Israeli and American officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told The Washington Times on Thursday that Mr. Netanyahu, in a major speech Sunday, will, however, set Israeli parameters for recognizing Palestinian sovereignty.

Those parameters include just about every kind of sovereignty encroachment one can imagine, which will make this a lot less serious of a proposal than Obama wants.  Netanyahu wants the right to station the IDF anywhere on the eastern and southern borders of the Palestinian state.  Netanyahu also wants carte blanche in Palestinian airspace, as well as control over their foreign policy.  That won’t mean independence for the Palestinians; it will mean a greater degree of autonomy, but still leave them in a de facto protectorate status, much like we have seen with Bermuda and the UK this week.

Of course, Netanyahu has good reasons for these demands.  If the Arabs attempt another invasion through the West Bank — the very reason Israel has the territory now — they will need both troops on the ground and planes in the air to fight.  They need both to deter a potential attack, too.  Israel will also want to ensure that a Palestinian state does not sign treaties with Syria and Iran that will put their troops on Israel’s borders.

These points demonstrate how difficult it will be to achieve a real two-state solution in this conflict with true independence for the Palestinians.  They have proven themselves untrustworthy in the extreme in more than 15 years since the Oslo accords, actively and openly encouraging terrorist attacks against Israel at times and financing and managing them less explicitly for the entirety of the period.  They get encouragement primarily from Iran and Syria, who funds Hamas, Hezbollah, and Islamic Jihad to fight a proxy war with Israel.  The Israelis cannot allow an independent state on their border become a satellite of the mullahs in Tehran.

Will the Obama administration hail this as a breakthrough?  Probably, because he needs to mend his fences with Israel and its supporters here in the US.  That will send some interesting signals to the Palestinians.

LOL. He only got on the Law Review after the rules had been changed to get more minorities on board. And then he was just elected Precedent of the Review – interestingly number 2 was also black. How strange? After all those years of no blacks on the review, all of a sudden the top runners for the election of president were minorities. Just a coincidence, I’m sure.

Obama half-brother ‘linked to UK sex attack’

The London Times reports:

Biometric tests carried out at East Midlands airport showed that he was linked to the attack on a girl in Berkshire last November but never charged, according to a report last night. Further checks identified Samson as the half-brother of President Obama, leading to a hurried call to the White House.

A Home Office source told the News of the World: “This was obviously an extremely sensitive issue when it was flashed up by the database.” Officers had noticed that one of the documents that Samson had supplied with his visa application was false which led them to make further inquiries, according to a Home Office spokesman.

Details on the database suggested that he was the same man who had been arrested by police in Berkshire after approaching a group of young girls, including a 13 year-old, and allegedly trying to sexually assault one of them, the News of the World reported.

He then followed the girls into a cafe where he became aggressive and was asked to leave by the owner. Police were called and Samson was arrested. He reportedly gave officers false identification details and supplied his mother’s address in Bracknell.

Last night a Home Office source said: “The individual applied for a visa which we refused.

This isn’t the brother who lives in a hut, or the relative who squats in Boston public housing. No, this is a cell phone store brother who is a CHILD MOLESTER.

Unfortunately, within hours of his arrival in Israel on Tuesday, it became clear that Mitchell’s statements about negotiations were nothing more than spin. He reiterated that the US has no intention whatsoever of budging on its uncompromising positions that no Jewish construction anywhere past the 1949 armistice lines is legitimate; that Israel must begin moving toward a mass expulsion of Jews from Judea and Samaria; and that the IDF must drastically curtail its counterterror operations in Judea and Samaria. That is, Mitchell demonstrated that like the Palestinians and the Saudis, the Obama administration’s idea of a resolution of the Palestinian conflict with Israel involves a complete Israeli surrender to all Arab (and now American) demands while trusting our security to the tender mercies of Palestinian terrorists.

MORE DISTURBING than Mitchell’s positions are his marching orders from Obama. Unlike previous presidential envoys who have come to Israel every few weeks and then disappeared when reality proved stronger than their peace fantasies, Obama has ordered Mitchell to cast reality to the seven winds and set up a permanent forward command post in Jerusalem directly subordinate to the White House.

To fulfill his writ, Mitchell has appointed four deputies – all known for their open sympathy for the Palestinians and their hostility to the Netanyahu government. They are Mara Rudman, of the George Soros-financed Center for American Progress; Lt.-Gen. Keith Dayton, who is now building a Fatah army in Jordan which he recently reportedly acknowledged will turn its American-financed guns on Israel within a few short years if Israel refuses to establish a Jew-free Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria; Fred Hoff, one of the greatest champions of a US-Syrian rapprochement and of an Israeli surrender of the Golan Heights; and David Hale, the architect of the current US policy of rebuilding the Hizbullah-infested Lebanese army. Hale will be permanently stationed in Jerusalem in a large office suite that will house Mitchell’s operation.

Aside from overseeing his deputies, Mitchell has also been charged with leading a new administration program aimed at undermining Israel’s ability to make independent military and intelligence decisions. Back in 2008, when Obama’s National Security Adviser Gen. Jim Jones served as then-secretary of state Condoleezza Rice’s special adviser on Israeli-Palestinian security issues, he authored a report calling for the US to assess what Israel’s “real” security interests in Judea and Samaria are and to limit US support to Israel to filling those necessarily minimal interests. Jones’s report, which rejected all Israeli claims in Judea and Samaria and underplayed the strategic significance of Palestinian rejection of Israel’s right to exist, was viewed as deeply hostile toward Israel, and the Olmert government prevailed on the Bush administration to set it aside.

To this end, and in line with Jones’s 2008 report, according to last Friday’s Yediot Aharonot, the administration is building an apparatus designed to prevent Israel from exercising independent judgments about its tactical and strategic challenges and deny it the ability to secure its interests without US involvement and consent.

The apparatus reportedly includes members of every US security, foreign policy and intelligence body. These officers will be stationed in Israel and will report to Mitchell, who in turn will report to Jones and Obama. Each officer will be assigned to coordinate with Israeli counterparts in mirror organizations, including the IDF, the Shin Beit, the Mossad, the police and every other relevant Israeli body.

Since there is no polite way for Israel to reject this effective US bid to subvert its capacity to make independent decisions, the most urgent dilemma the Netanyahu government must solve is how to handle Mitchell’s new supreme headquarters in Jerusalem. To address this issue, the government must be clear about what it wishes to accomplish in its relations with Mitchell specifically and the Obama administration generally.

As the Obama administration’s treatment of Israel to date shows clearly, the president and his advisers have no intention of compromising their hardline positions on Israel. The administration is building its supreme headquarters in Jerusalem to enable Mitchell to act like a colonial governor and confront the unruly Jewish natives – not to cut a deal with us.

And so, as former US ambassador to the UN John Bolton first suggested in January during his visit to Israel, Netanyahu must elegantly remove himself from Mitchell’s orbit.

To this end, in his policy speech at Bar-Ilan University’s Begin-Sadat Center on Sunday, Netanyahu should announce that in the interests of fostering cooperation with the US and advancing prospects for peace, he is appointing a special prime ministerial envoy to Obama’s special presidential envoy Mitchell. This envoy – and his purposely inflated staff – should be charged with handling all contacts with Mitchell and his staff and reporting all of their suggestions to Netanyahu for his consideration.

Netanyahu’s special envoy should be a senior persona whom he trusts implicitly. Prime candidates for the position would be Dore Gold – who served as UN ambassador during Netanyahu’s first term as prime minister – and former minister Natan Sharansky – who Netanyahu has nominated to head the Jewish Agency. Either man would be more than capable of respectfully deflecting US pressure on the Palestinian issue away from Netanyahu and so freeing the prime minister to attend to the Iranian threat.

Sorry for the length, but this is from Caroline Glick’s latest column in JPost. Despite Obama’ statment in Cairo that one nation cannot tell another what to do, Israel is the exception (Krauthammer wrote a column on this, too)..

Obama’s intention is to micromanage Israeli policy by having his envoys constantly calling Israeli counterparts to ask the Israelis to justify everything they do. Presumably they think the Israelis will get worn down and just start taking orders from Obama.

This is not a new policy. ) On April 1, a Statement by incoming Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman at the ministerial inauguration ceremony declared that they would abide by the latest agreements approved by Israel.

Excerpts follow:

“The continuity of government is respected in Israel. I voted against the Road Map, but that was the only document approved by the Cabinet and by the Security Council – I believe it was Resolution 1505. It is a binding resolution and it binds this government as well.”

“So we will therefore act exactly according to the Road Map, including the Tenet document and the Zinni document. I will never agree to our waiving all the clauses – I believe there are 48 of them – and going directly to the last clause, negotiations on a permanent settlement.”

Has anyone read the 48 clauses, or more importabtly – the Zinni and Tenent documents?

“The Oslo process began in 1993. Sixteen years have passed since then, and I do not see that we are any closer to a permanent settlement. There is one document that binds us and it is not the Annapolis Conference. That has no validity. When we drafted the basic government policy guidelines, we certainly stated that we would honor all the agreements and all the undertakings of previous governments. They must implement the document in full, including – as I said – the Zinni document and the Tenet document. I am not so sure that the Palestinian Authority or even we – in those circles that espouse peace so much – are aware of the existence of the Tenet and Zinni documents.”

Mr. Obama was elected after a meeting of the review’s 80 editors that convened Sunday and lasted until early this morning, a participant said.

Until the 1970’s the editors were picked on the basis of grades, and the president of the Law Review was the student with the highest academic rank. Among these were Elliot L. Richardson, the former Attorney General, and Irwin Griswold, a dean of the Harvard Law School and Solicitor General under Presidents Lyndon B. Johnson and Richard M. Nixon.

That system came under attack in the 1970’s and was replaced by a program in which about half the editors are chosen for their grades and the other half are chosen by fellow students after a special writing competition. The new system, disputed when it began, was meant to help insure that minority students became editors of The Law Review.

Harvard, like a number of other top law schools, no longer ranks its law students for any purpose including a guide to recruiters.

Sounds like the New Haven fire dep’t. in the Sotomayor case. The test was too hard for any black people to pass so they dropped the test. Google it. I didn’t make up that statement.

What follows is entirely heresay, I admit that, but, it’s credible from an unnamed source, who, obviously, won’t come forth with an identity attached to the first-hand comments I’m going to repeat here, but, here goes…

The “Editor of the Law Review” position was deemed an inconvenient drag to students at Harvard Law who had other goals in mind, like doing very well academically and heading off to future positions, AND, the position was also accepted as nothing more or less than “a resume pad” — a position given to a student who first NEEDS a resume pad and who can then profit from it accordingly, while other students took care of their own paths, academics and futures and all, already more confident, not in need of a resume pad.

So Barack Obama was deemed to be that guy who needed a resume pad, who would profit the most in the group of students available from that resume pad, and he was awarded that position.

It actually speaks badly as to Obama’s existing, at that time, qualifications, in light of the environment and what the position actually was (a resume pad, considered “fodder” to bolster the overall appeal of someone who could use or was in greater need of such).

The “I was a Constititional professor” line is an utter lie. Obama WAS A LECTURER on the Constitution, read aloud from prepared scripts just as he’s doing now as a continuing politician enacting a role. He READS text and PERFORMS the text, without too much interaction, if any at all, about what the context actually means and how others interact with it.

He wasn’t a professor, he was a lecturer. You, too, can print out copies of various parts of the U.S. Constitution, polish your acting abilities and stand before an audience and read that text.

To fulfill his writ, Mitchell has appointed four deputies – all known for their open sympathy for the Palestinians and their hostility to the Netanyahu government. They are Mara Rudman, of the George Soros-financed Center for American Progress; Lt.-Gen. Keith Dayton, who is now building a Fatah army in Jordan which he recently reportedly acknowledged will turn its American-financed guns on Israel within a few short years if Israel refuses to establish a Jew-free Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria; Fred Hoff, one of the greatest champions of a US-Syrian rapprochement and of an Israeli surrender of the Golan Heights; and David Hale, the architect of the current US policy of rebuilding the Hizbullah-infested Lebanese army. Hale will be permanently stationed in Jerusalem in a large office suite that will house Mitchell’s operation.

Aside from overseeing his deputies, Mitchell has also been charged with leading a new administration program aimed at undermining Israel’s ability to make independent military and intelligence decisions. Back in 2008, when Obama’s National Security Adviser Gen. Jim Jones served as then-secretary of state Condoleezza Rice’s special adviser on Israeli-Palestinian security issues, he authored a report calling for the US to assess what Israel’s “real” security interests in Judea and Samaria are and to limit US support to Israel to filling those necessarily minimal interests. Jones’s report, which rejected all Israeli claims in Judea and Samaria and underplayed the strategic significance of Palestinian rejection of Israel’s right to exist, was viewed as deeply hostile toward Israel, and the Olmert government prevailed on the Bush administration to set it aside.

To this end, and in line with Jones’s 2008 report, according to last Friday’s Yediot Aharonot, the administration is building an apparatus designed to prevent Israel from exercising independent judgments about its tactical and strategic challenges and deny it the ability to secure its interests without US involvement and consent.

The apparatus reportedly includes members of every US security, foreign policy and intelligence body. These officers will be stationed in Israel and will report to Mitchell, who in turn will report to Jones and Obama. Each officer will be assigned to coordinate with Israeli counterparts in mirror organizations, including the IDF, the Shin Beit, the Mossad, the police and every other relevant Israeli body.

Since there is no polite way for Israel to reject this effective US bid to subvert its capacity to make independent decisions, the most urgent dilemma the Netanyahu government must solve is how to handle Mitchell’s new supreme headquarters in Jerusalem. To address this issue, the government must be clear about what it wishes to accomplish in its relations with Mitchell specifically and the Obama administration generally.

As the Obama administration’s treatment of Israel to date shows clearly, the president and his advisers have no intention of compromising their hardline positions on Israel. The administration is building its supreme headquarters in Jerusalem to enable Mitchell to act like a colonial governor and confront the unruly Jewish natives – not to cut a deal with us.

And so, as former US ambassador to the UN John Bolton first suggested in January during his visit to Israel, Netanyahu must elegantly remove himself from Mitchell’s orbit.

To this end, in his policy speech at Bar-Ilan University’s Begin-Sadat Center on Sunday, Netanyahu should announce that in the interests of fostering cooperation with the US and advancing prospects for peace, he is appointing a special prime ministerial envoy to Obama’s special presidential envoy Mitchell. This envoy – and his purposely inflated staff – should be charged with handling all contacts with Mitchell and his staff and reporting all of their suggestions to Netanyahu for his consideration.

Netanyahu’s special envoy should be a senior persona whom he trusts implicitly. Prime candidates for the position would be Dore Gold – who served as UN ambassador during Netanyahu’s first term as prime minister – and former minister Natan Sharansky – who Netanyahu has nominated to head the Jewish Agency. Either man would be more than capable of respectfully deflecting US pressure on the Palestinian issue away from Netanyahu and so freeing the prime minister to attend to the Iranian threat

In the context that I wrote what I wrote (“God’s not on your side” TO A PARTICULAR HATER HERE), your extensive criticism about Israel, Christians and a number of other things is way, way out of line as it is also irrational.

There’s a particular nonplussed naysayer here who is bent on writing nonsense. Pity that you’d try to lend a hand in those regards.

The simple fact is that Isreal’s survival is a promise from God. If you want to argue with God, go ahead, your business. But I have no idea why He so exclaims, just that that’s what God says He intends and wants.

About the “two state solution,” however, I strongly doubt any reliability in such a concept or in those who rely on such an expression for political expediency’s sake.

There IN REALITY is no such thing as a “Palestinian” and the term, “Palestine,” only came into public discourse when Britain, decades ago, deemed an operative area such. There had been up to that point in time, no such nation nor no such people.

Today, for expediency’s sake, many Arabs, but mostly the Islam ‘nation’ or body of faith, NEEDS Israel to be done away with, their enemies include “Jews” and Christians and otherwise, all of us “infidels”. They have capitalized upon a rather non-existent term and place, “Palestinians” and “Palestine,” for purposes of creating first the place and time by which a victimized group could be launched upon, second, the target they need to be the bad guy, the so-called perpetrator, the “infidel” “enemy”.

Today’s “Palestinians” are used like popcorn in a shaker by which a lot of kernals are popped out when needed to exemplify the demands by Islam to curtail upon and demean Isreal, headed toward their ongoing goal of eradicating Israel. So they use this element among the Arab people when and as they need to further their fianl goal, which is the eradication of Israel.

Previous attempts to deploy the “two state solution” have not worked out too well, now, have they? Has not solved anything, has not satiated “Palestine”‘s demands, has not quieted nor brought to happiness any Muslim as to where they live and who lives in their same world at the same time.

The problem is not this concept, however, it is that there continues to be an unmodified goal by Islam to destroy others. Solve or resolve that, and you’ll have happy Muslims living as Palestinians or as any other term they may want to adopt, but, it’s up to Islam to make that elevation of character and spirit.

Actually, I think Netanyahu DOES “give a rats a@@” what Obama thinks, for sheer purposes of wanting to understand or try to, and to remain as informed as possible. I just think that what he thinks is surely as you conclude, though, that he’ll do what’s in the best interest of his nation’s security. Tragically, Obama isn’t and does not seem to have the same goal in mind as to the U.S.

Netanyahu can try (we’ll see, Sunday, the pending speech) to follow the advice, so-called, by Obama as to affirming “the two state solution,” but, I think more than likely Netanyahu will maintain Israel’s integrity and apply a great deal of common sense to how he expresses that trying. It won’t work with Isreal doing both state’s solutions, it’ll only work if and when Islam lays off Israel. If it doesn’t, won’t, then, there’s no solution, there’s no “two state”s involved, to put it bluntly, it’s just Israel again and again trying to apply reason to the unreasonable.

UNTIL the Arab world accepts that Israel has a right to exist and plans to continue existing, as a democracy as they deem fitting for themselves, nothing will ever change. That’s the problem that Obama is not willing to address and instead is addressing sympathy for the devil, in my view.
