Quote of the day

posted at 10:52 pm on June 11, 2009 by Allahpundit

“On January 20, Barack Obama became president of a deranged nation. He did so apparently taking no notice of the fact that a good portion of the country, a country that otherwise repeatedly voiced its support for him in poll after poll after poll, continued to be completely out of its mind. He was calm and reasoned, and he spoke in measured tones about the challenges he and the nation were facing. And then he seemed to go manic on us…

By acting so quickly on so many things, he had forced upon his political opposition a kind of instant obsolescence. He had arranged things so that the country could look at the contortions of the lizard brain in comparison with the frenzy of political activity, and those contortions looked tepid and ineffectual, something out of a different and slower time. Say what you will about the policy implications of seeming to do everything at once. Politically, it came onto his opponents like Stonewall Jackson’s soldiers pouring out of the forest at Chancellorsville. The basic, important subtext to what so bothered Commissioner Kilburn and so convinced me was that, Jesus, this guy’s liable to do anything. In a radically different context, Richard Nixon once called this the ‘madman’ strategy.”

He’s a real Control Freak Man
Sitting in his held hostage land
Making all his controlling plans

Doesn’t listen to an opposing point of view
Knows already just what he wants to do
Isn’t he a bit like Hitler and Mussolini?
Control Freak Man, please listen
You don’t know with what you’re messing
Control freak man, the world should not be at your command

He’s as blinded by his lust for power as he can be
Just sees what he wants to see
Control Freak Man can you see America at all?
He’s got such a statist point of view

It’s a smart thing in the beginning. Do so much that any one thing is ok ; “cap and trade plus nationalized banks? Oh well at least obamacare failed”

Problem for him is, it’s predicated on the idea the economy will IMPROVE

When the economy get worse (always gas under leftist policy), not only will obama be discredited, but all the liberal policies will be discredited, because he’s pushing everything through

Instead of saying Obama was just naiive, in 2030 people will say socialzed meds, cap and trade, amnesty, bailouts, etc are ALL bad

Hey… Not a bad thing at all ….. If we can make it to 2013…

That’s about a perfect paragraph, now.

progressoverpeace on June 11, 2009 at 11:03 PM

Once, a man named Barry walked the paths of Columbia University, pondering figs and apes, and apes and figs, eating the figs that they crushed underfoot, and…

And then the acid wore off and he found himself face to face with Bernadine Dohrn. After a quick discussion about anacondas, she quickly begged off, mumbling something about a SDS meeting.

A few more steps, and he found himself face to face with Michelle Robinson. One look at her evil eyes, and he was fetched with lust. Her bare arms brought him near to orgasm before they could even make it back to his apartment, a professionally furnished dwelling provided by that nice man Tony from up the block.

And they lived happily ever after…

If there were no other baseline qualification for the job, it should be that one. Of lesser concern during times when presidents aspire to do small things, certainly, but as we find ourselves at present in the maelstrom of the Obama Revolution, we can only hope that the president is as sober as he appears to be. For he may have campaigned on hope, but he’s governed with implacable audacity.

Why is this presented as some kind of insightful commentary? This guy loves Obama…I can guarantee you he voted for him. All he is admitting is what everybody who voted for this empty suit is admitting..they have no idea what the hell he is doing or what his mental state is…they just don’t care…and they will only care after it is far too late to do anything about it…and when that time comes…it’s all Bush’s fault anyway.

He is trying everything in order to see what works. He has lashed New Deal politics to New Frontier “vigah” and thrown the whole thing into overdrive to meet the challenges of an accelerated age. In doing so, he is attempting to solve the crisis in American identity by dealing all at once with the more concrete crises that he’s inherited. In doing so, he is reestablishing the American identity as a people who can solve the problems of their own making.

This article is total crap. This paragraph is total crap. Re-establishing the American identity into European Socialism is total crap.

Is Obama crazy? He is indeed a narcissist with a God complex. But I think the guiding force behind his actions so far is more concretely identified as a incompetence born of willful ignorance and a hard left world view.

I have never seen a group of people so proud of what they don’t know as the current Left. They are stunning in their hubris.

But realistically, this is the only way for the left to survive. They need to believe that what they are doing is fresh and new and they are clearly wiser and smarter then all those who came before them…just like the generation before…all the way back to 1792.

In football terms some would say that Obama’s strategy has been to Blitz the Republicans with a rapid fire of legislation that they are trying to push through as quickly as possible in order to keep them off balance and not give them enough time to come up with a coordinated defence on individual issues.

For the Republicans the strategy has to be to identify the Legislation that the Administration really wants to go through (Health care) and make sure that they present a united defence in order to block the Administrations major play as best as possible. They may loose the scrimmage but if they can disrupt the other teams play then may just through them off their game long enough for the Republicans to get that ball back and to score a few points of their own and make it competitive game once again.

In a radically different context, Richard Nixon once called this the ‘madman’ strategy.”

Speaking of Nixon ……

Nixon got caught covering up a second-rate burglary into Dem headquarters at Watergate, was pounded to a pulp by Woodward and Bernstein in the Washington Post and forced to resign.

Obama is systematically taking down our banking system, the auto industry, our military, our intelligence service, kissing up to our sworn enemies and doing all he can to release our captured enemies, while the press does worse than nothing – they swoon over him and applaud his every move.

Now I ask you, which one is guilty of causing more harm to our great nation?

It’s one thing to give bajillions to the DNC, MoveOn, and the like when you can just invent your industry’s next iPod and refill the bank accounts. It’s quite another when you are living off that bank account with not much more coming in.

Also, we will find out how many of those who followed the Boomers into industries like the media, academia, and the like were real “true believer” leftists, and who was affecting leftism to get ahead in the offices run by the Boomer “true believers” once those “true believers” retire.

If we can have a Carter-level discrediting of leftism and statism from the 0bama Administration, the hustling of true-believing leftist Boomers into retirement, PLUS the declassification of US Counterintelligence files from the Cold War era—- Game. Over.

AUINSC on June 12, 2009 at 12:11 AM

That has rarely been the case. There’s nothing inherently indestructible about this country. But two points: 1. Liberal policies have failure built into them. Obamanomics won’t succeed because it can’t. Social Security is failing. Medicare is failing. Liberal-controlled public education is failing. 2. Despite the increased numbers of slugs among us who want something for nothing, the country as a whole remains fairly conservative.

The Liberals I know are astonishingly unaware of all the stuff that we are because we do watch the boring political news shows and read sites like this.

Oh, to them everything’s hunky dory and the Prez is doing a great job, Bush sucked, Palin sucks, etc.

One Liberal I know said she drove by our local tea party and commented on all the ‘hate’. I was like, ‘What hate???’.

They will whine the loudest if (God forbid) disaster strikes because they are the most unaware and put their faith in a false Messiah. And I’ll just shrug my shoulders and say, “Yeah, well…”

Dr. ZhivBlago on June 12, 2009 at 12:24 AM

incompetence born of willful ignorance and a hard left world view

What I think is that the keys to Obama and his policies, lie in the following men: (1) his father; (2) Saul Alinsky; (3) David Axelrod. I’ll throw in another here just to make a point: (4) L. Ron Hubbard.

L. Ron was a fool, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t know how to brainwash people. He did – try googleing “bear baiting.” Likewise, Alinsky…Alinsky was no great shakes. Did he understand something about power? Yes. Did he understand how to manipulate and use people? Yes. Was he a neo-Machiavellian figure? No. Nevertheless, Alinsky knew enough about how to manipulate and use people so that, just like L. Ron, you could forget the cheap/insane and currently outdated “alien” or “revolution” talk, because he got results.

“We are going to change the world. Please, don’t interfere.”

Obama (I will not call him President, nor “my president”) is on a pre-ordained path, set for him by foolish radicals like Saul Alinsky 40 years ago. The net result of his teachers’ rules is the diminishment and reducing of America. These people wanted to grind the country under their thumb until all WERE, IN FACT, EQUAL, but only because the greatest country ever had been brought low. These people (the 60′s radicals) hated America. The positions they took reflected this hatred, this jealousy. And to this day, I find it difficult to believe the Obama loves his country. Does he love his country? It sure doesn’t sound like it, considering how insistent he is on apologizing for it. But save save your last apology for us, Barack.

Which brings me (in all of my intoxicated glory) to this point: it does not matter whether OBAMA succeeds in his irresponsible, immoral, and unintelligible Recovery Plan (“the stimulus”) or not: if he does, it will come with a $600 billion entrenchment of liberal ideology; if he does not, WHO CARES, IT WOULD SATISFY ALINSKY, SOROS, AND ALL THE ANTI-DEMOCRATIC FORCES IN THE WORLD TO SEE THIS COUNTRY RUINED.

“All enemies, foreign or domestic.” Do U.S. military officers still swear that oath? Can the U.S. military operate under a socialist regime? Why not? Do any officers consider a military coup?

And why can’t I find any books by George Orwell in my local liberal library?

His writing style is a little much for me but though it seems like he starts out critical of Obama, at the end he is actually calling him a genius or something…. at least that’s how I understand it.

CCRWM on June 12, 2009 at 12:26 AM

I just wanted to add that, in a street fight, I could totally kick Barack’s ass. First, he’d have to take off his helmet. Then I would pounce on him like a mountain lion and Michelle would probably have to intervene.

Projection, a lib talent. They whine about “hate”, but delight in Olbermann or Matthews or Garafalo. You don’t get much more hateful than that.

I think he admired Hillary’s “kitchen sink” strategy. She started turning things around with that in the primary, and he lost Texas, Ohio, etc.

He’s using it on the public now. *haha

“All enemies, foreign or domestic.” Do U.S. military officers still swear that oath?

RWExtremist on June 12, 2009 at 12:25 AM

They now, or soon will, have a new one.

Old: “I, _____ (SSAN), having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God.” (DA Form 71)

New: “I swear by Karl Marx this sacred oath that I shall render unconditional obedience to Barack Obama, the Supreme Ruler of the ACORN Reich, supreme commander of the armed forces, Divine Ruler of all that he surveys and that I shall at all times be ready, as a subservient soldier, to give my life for this oath.” (Emanuel Rahm Form 666)

Sorry I couldn’t play to much today…………

………. I had to bury a friend.

She was 40 years old, left behind a husband I have known since the third grade, and two small daughters…….

……. Amazing thing, though, at the funeral,

a great many people expressed their dislike for Obama…..

…….. Friends that I have not seen in many years, liberals, free thinkers and all,

and the conversation always started with

“God Bless (name withheld), but for (name withheld) it’s going to be hard being a single Dad…..”

“Yeah, especially with what Obama is doing to this country…”

I had to hold my tongue, because the day wasn’t about Obama or me…….

……. I was there to say “Goodbye and God Bless”.

I don’t think he’s out of his mind he just finds himself way, way, way above his pay grade and his capabilities. He is a bona-fide rookie and he shows it every day.

Ready for more? Here it comes! Analysis:

When my great-grandparents came to this country, they read their children’s books and went to the movies to learn English. They watched movies back to back, and then tv. They wanted to assimilate, be a part of Chicago. And then they told their sons why they (the sons) had to return to Europe and fight.

Now, this is the land of Opportunity! Mostly, the Opportunity to make money, take advantage of some ridiculous system that’s been set up for your (immigrant) benefit — even though you will never know, until your last miserable dying day, the sacrifices which were made to ensure the continued progress and support of your miserable cabbie-driving existence — and elect Democrats, who lie to you, and you know it . . . but better than that, you know it is them (the Democrats) who are passing entitlements, and getting your medical care paid for by the evil gringos. But you don’t care, do you? Lousy free-riders. How many know how much is being paid for by “the other” American, and yet insist (within the cultured gounds laid down by our highly educated and theoretical jurists) on the right to maintain their “culture”?

Well, sometimes I like what he decides. Withholding the GITMO pics, for example. I was relieved about that. I don’t like the car stuff. I did agree on TARP, but I hated how he turned it into a populist head-on-a-stick issue.

It’s a mixed bag.

“Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself.” — John Adams

Where our esteemed founding father got his cynicism I don’t know, but I suspect he was thinking of Greek democracy and Roman republicanism. What I will say is that we are in trouble. I’ve spent a fair amount of time in dysfunctional countries and can recognize the same problems that bedevil them cropping up here. There is an increasing de-legitimization of the political elite in this country akin to that seen in Latin America. Where the consequences of that illegitimacy take us when one half of the country is increasingly disenfranchised is not a good place. Throw in the arrogance and hubris of the Congress and the left, and the collapse of the media and we’ll see.

The big test I guess lies in 2010. If nothing changes then hold on to your hats and buckle your seat belts.

elduende on June 12, 2009 at 12:50 AM

Just to clarify the point about kicking Barack’s ass: this would be a genuine alley or street fight (there is one right by where I work so we could probably use that — I have to run it by my boss) — I have a guy would could manage it all: no weapons, no steel. Also I use a cane so the part about me kicking Barack’s ass means, yeah, even a guy with a cane could likely do it. Like a muthafu^in’ MOUNTAIN LION, man!!!!!

RWExtremist on June 12, 2009 at 12:55 AM

For you lefties I have a simple observation and question…

The peeps are throwing the MSM to the dogs. Newspapers and networks are set to fall.

Barry has decided to court the fawning MSM. What now? What happens when nobody is left to cover ‘date night’?

I like the comparison in this quote of Obama’s tactics to that of Stonewall Jackson, a brilliant tactician who just happened to also support the enslavement of human beings. It is a really powerfull comparison when you examine it thoroughly.

There is such a thing as an evil genius, or at least one with an evil cause. I am still not sure why so many people thought it was a good idea to elect one as President.

Tim Pancoast on June 12, 2009 at 1:07 AM

And just to clarify one more point, I thought I should probably review the U.S. Code (which I did) but it does not cover street fights. Nevertheless, by tomorrow I may be in Gitmo, or even better, Palua, with a fine Paluan woman!!
