You’re fired: Trump cans Miss California; Update: They wanted me to do Playboy, says Prejean

Turns out the beauty queen’s a prima donna. Who knew?
Sigh. I wanted this one to be different.
But it was Trump who gave the final OK to fire her, FOXNews.com has learned.
“I told Carrie she needed to get back to work and honor her contract with the Miss California Organization and I gave her the opportunity to do so,” Trump said in the same documents. “Unfortunately it just doesn’t look like it is going to happen and I offered Keith my full support in making this decision.”…
According to a source, Prejean has aspirations to write a book and pursue other opportunities, which she will be able to do now that she has been released from her duties as Miss California.
I’m tempted to say we got suckered here, but if she was trying to get fired all along, the time to do it would have been last month when she could still claim political martyrdom. Instead she got bagged for insubordination. An e-mail from Prejean to the state pageant director, also via Fox News:
When asked to go through the proper proctol and provide details so events could be set in a master calendar, Prejean responded: “You do not cooperate with me, and you pick and chose the things YOU want me to do. That is not happening anymore. Stop speaking for me. I have MY own voice. What are u gonna do fire me for volunteering for the special olympics hahaha ur crazy No I am doing this appearance. You do not need details. Its for the SPECIAL OLYMPICS!!! You just need to know I will be doing it alright,” before insisting that Miss California officials provide “full security as per her request.”
Said Trump to TMZ, “To me she was the sweetest thing. Everyone else — she treated like s**t.” Exit question one: Is the bloom off the rose? Doesn’t mean she can’t or won’t have her right to dissent on gay marriage defended, but the image of sweet, unassuming Carrie is, I dare say, shattered. Exit question two: Interesting how it was Fox News that dished the dirt on this when it was the Foxies who chased her down for guest-hosting duties. Was the info selectively leaked to FNC to enhance the embarrassment for her? Or did she alienate people there too and this is a measure of revenge?
Update: Carrie fires back. Let the clusterfark continue!
Prejean claims pageant honcho Keith Lewis actually asked her last month if she would take two gigs — appearing on “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!” and Playboy. Prejean says Lewis told her Playboy offered $140,000 for her to pose semi-nude. She rejected both offers.
A few minutes ago we talked to Lewis who said he was not pushing her to take either gig — but merely passing the offers along. Lewis said Prejean had insisted they not turn anything down without running it by her…
Prejean says, “What’s behind this I think is a political debate. They don’t agree with the stance that I took [on Prop 8]. Shana [Moakler] is trying to bash me. They don’t like me. From day one they wanted me out and they got what they wanted.”
Prejean also told us she couldn’t believe Donald Trump would say she treated people in the pageant “like s**t.” For the record, Trump did tell Harvey Levin that on the phone earlier today. Prejean said if Trump really feels that way she’s sorry, adding: “I’ve shown respect for every party involved, even when they haven’t shown it back.”
Er, wasn’t the original pretext for firing her that she posed “semi-nude”? And now, according to her, the pageant itself wanted her to do a semi-nude shoot in Playboy? I’m skeptical.

There’s a lot more about modesty in the new testament. 1 Thess 4. Is a good example.
There’s also the issue that public nakedness in the bible was always shameful, and in heaven people will be wearing robes.
The idea that the naked body is to be publicly appreciated comes from greek and roman religions and cultures, not christian ones.

Yeah, jes keepin’ it concise. Whenever you say “naked,” most people think “nude.” They don’t realize that pasties and thongs aren’t what the Lord had in mind when He said “Get dressed.”

If she posed nude for Playboy, wouldn’t that immediately nullify her position as Ms. California? Perhaps that was a half-hearted effort by the pageant to get her ousted for breaking the rules. I do not believe that the California pageant officials liked her, that was evident in their reaction to her answer at Ms USA (they threw her under the bus).
In the end, who really gives a shit? She is famous for her actions, not her position as Ms. California. Does it really matter why she was fired? Unless we are to believe that she is somehow an unsavory character, I don’t see how this could possibly be more harmful than say…Megan Fox calling for Megatron to kill all of the hillbillies first.

Also, her request for security is not unreasonable.
It seems like a day does not go by without a TOLERANT leftist wishing rape upon a conservative woman merely because they find her politics so disagreeable.
Miss Prejean may very well be a pill but asking for security is not really compelling evidence of bad behavior.
Threshing Flora on June 10, 2009 at 8:16 PM
Nope.
Just join Meghan McCain in bashing conservatives and she will be just fine.
Resume enhancer.
All she has to do is join Perez Hilton in asking other runner-ups the gay marriage question and she will have all her rights restored.

Star20 on June 10, 2009 at 9:21 PM
So why didn’t should just do it? She’s already posed nude and pranced on national television 90% naked, so she obviously doesn’t have any moral qualms about immodesty and nakedness.
I’m sick of these phony Christians like Carrie Prejean.
2Brave2Bscared on June 10, 2009 at 9:44 PM
Carrie needs to live by the golden rule, that’s all.
I’m not Christian but this rule is universal. Meanness is not a Christian value; it is not a universal value among anyone of faith or nonbelief.
SouthernGal on June 10, 2009 at 9:45 PM
I don’t trust that Keith Lewis at all. I think he’s the one who set up all of this “prop 8 – gay rights” advocacy in the pageant. From the beginning, when he bought Prejean breast implants, to the very end when she was asked a loaded question by a gay rights activist, I think the whole thing was staged and they were trying to buy Prejean’s support for their cause. I think she was predetermined to win the Miss USA so that Keith Lewis and all his gay marriage pals would have a gay marriage celebrity spokesperson from the state that just voted against it. The boob job was the bribe. And when Prejean didn’t play along, it was time to throw a collective hissy fit and destroy her. Mission accomplished!
OxyCon on June 10, 2009 at 9:45 PM
I’m sure she’s happy.
Now she can pick and choose the other offers that have come her way.
AprilOrit on June 10, 2009 at 9:54 PM
This guy wanted her gone right from the beginning. Why would he pass on an offer from playboy when she isn’t supposed to be posing nude? Why would he pass on an offer from a degrading reality show when they pretend that there is some kind of dignity surrounding this show? Sounds like this little fruit was pissed off that trump didn’t fire her in the first place and then pushed for conflict. By the way, why the hell are homosexuals invileved in a women’s beauty pageant? They aren’t women, they don’t know what it’s like to be a woman, they don’t act like women. They don’t have feminine qualities. They are homosexuals. If any woman I knew acted like a gay man I’d think she was nuts and put as much distance between us that I could.
peacenprosperity on June 10, 2009 at 10:02 PM

Typically the Trump hypocracy. As the majority of Americans stood behind Miss California and her view on Gay marriage, he decided to follow and keep people happy. Showing off how generous he was. He however probably already had his mind set to get rid of her at the first opportunity he would get.
Trump is just another pathetic realtor. The same as the rest of them. Talking people into properties they can’t afford.

The Miss California pageant staff has been gunning for her ever since she answered The Question™ – but hey, let’s take everything they say as the gospel truth! /
Maybe she DID want to quit. Who could blame her, after the way they trashed her in the media? She’s young, and she endured more than ANYONE should have to.
I’m sorry – I’m not buying that she’s the bad guy here. Not after the way they treated her.
capitalist piglet on June 11, 2009 at 1:18 AM
And by the way, posing for semi-nude modeling pictures is quite a different thing than posing in Playboy, for any reason, and in any state of dress or undress.
capitalist piglet on June 11, 2009 at 1:19 AM
They wanted her gone and this was just an excuse to fire her.
They think they have silenced her, since she won’t have the platform of Miss California anymore, just like they like to try to silence anyone who doesn’t agree with their views.
Here’s hoping that Carrie continues to get out there and speak out for what is right, and will be in the spotlight now more than ever.
Sterling Holobyte on June 11, 2009 at 1:43 AM
I worked on a movie for two days with Tom Cruise. He was a jerk to everyone on Day One when we were shooting a scene with 99% male cast members: some us got the silent treatment when trying to engage him in polite conversation, some were yelled at, most of us saw lots of sneers, the constant rolling of eyes, and at one point the smashing of a disposable camera when one of the teenage boy extras tried to take a picture of Tiny Tom.
The ratio changed to 60% female/40% male on the second day of shooting and Tom Cruise was all smiles, glad handing with anyone that made eye contact, posing for pictures with women of all ages, etc. For those of us that worked both days, it was something we’ll never forget.
Guess what? That’s how almost all modern celebrities live their lives: Tell your core audience exactly what they want to hear in the sweetest voice and your core audience can be counted on to shout down anyone that dares to say you’re not a living god among mortals. Trump is jerk. Plenty of people will say Trump is a jerk but this is the first we’ve heard of Miss California being so difficult. There’s a good chance Miss California’s a jerk, too… but maybe up until now she’s just been very good at hiding it from the public.
How many pretty young women (or men for that matter) in 2009 who make a living in the media can you point to that are NOT arrogant and conceited? Let’s not kid ourselves: That’s their M.O. and that overconfidence is a big reason why people consider them “stars.”
ScottMcC on June 11, 2009 at 2:27 AM
I am no fan of Cruise, but I think you’re off base. The teen extra’s camera should have been destroyed; he had no business taking unauthorized pics on the set. I don’t know what is meant by “polite conversation” — so much is controversial about Cruise, his marriage/relationships, his religion, etc. that it only makes sense to keep things focused. The entire enterprise depended on his performance, which could be detrimentally effected if he’s severely ticked off by someone with whom interaction is unnecessary (see Bale, Christian).
Despite my nick, I am not in show business. But even in my line of work I am so pressured that at times I can be curt, which could be misinterpreted as being dismissive. At such moments, I am prone to be sarcastic and impulsive. If I take too much time to consider the way others see my actions, it distracts from the task being completed. In a moment sometimes, I have to decide whether or not it’s worth it to put the progress of the project on hold to clear up possible misunderstandings on the fly, or if they can wait until everything is done.
L.N. Smithee on June 11, 2009 at 4:10 AM

I can tell I am going to get along with this special, special “gal” quite well.
From one “southern girl” to another, I, too, would like to see your sources. Just as long as you can weed out the likes of Perez Hilton and other celebs. And, for the record, Jesus was quite, QUITE judgemental as were the apostles. We are to make judgements on all things with discernment and clarity. Passing judgement means going beyond what the word of God says (and it says a lot), saying I am the arbiter of righteousness and punishment and you will be going to hell. And, it has more to do with our judgement WITHIN our own ranks, not without.
Most non christians twist this like liberals twist separation of church and state. It fits your worldview and allows you to judge someone else without feeling judgemental yourself. One cannot live through out the day without judging one thing for another and I hope that you have a healthy level of “judgementalism” to determine whether something is safe or not for you to participate.
sigh. I love the south, but, sheesh…

You know, at the risk of being labeled an old fuddy-duddy prude, maybe it’s time we as a society in general dump the beauty pageant concept altogether.
Seems that ever since Donald Trump got his mitts into it, he has turned it into a virtual three ring circus.
pilamaye on June 11, 2009 at 7:31 AM
What happened to those old fashioned beauty pageants. The girls streamed out in bathing suits and high heels, you went to the bathroom and made a beer or snack run while they were on the talent or the I want world peace” time waster, then
you got to see some large population state win.
Jeff from WI on June 11, 2009 at 7:44 AM
She’s better off without that ‘crown’ anyway. Had I been her, I would have told them what to do with it right after that debacle at the pageant. If I were her mom, I would tell her to go back to school, get an advanced degree and go into some useful profession and turn her back on it all–if that’s still possible given the publicity she’s had. And..write her book along the way to finance it all.

A movie released in 2007, called “The Bible Tells Me So,” addresses gays and the issues surrounding Christians’ intolerance.
In the background section at the movie’s website, it provides some history regarding a seminar addressing becoming more tolerant of gays (not sure how long the seminar’s been held, but long enough to be quoted as the basis for this movie…several years?).
An LA talent agent, Keith Lewis, is quoted as saying: “If you look at the evolution of gay awareness in this country, the whole idea of gay identity is really brand new. Only in the last fifty or so years have people in all walks of life started to realize that they have gay friends and relatives. Our country is so faith-oriented that this seminar made me realize that a lot of straight people really needed these kinds of tools to grapple with a whole new social era. Robin and I left that seminar convinced that the time for such a tool is now.”
I agree with OxyCon…this guy’s been behind the issue for awhile, and wanted someone who’d answer the Question the way he thought it should. I applaud Carrie for standing her ground, given what’s happened since (the backlash, leak by pageant officials about her surgery, etc.)
BTW, do we recall who Shanna Moakler is? (new to the Miss California USA group) HINT: Playmate in 2001 and was married to Travis Barker from Blink-182…you all know d-mn well that gal was gunnin’ for Carrie after her answer (and she & Perez were HARSH on this girl after her anti-gay marriage answer). Why else would she spill the implant news to Perez Hilton, of all people????
Conspiracy…I think so.

Mommypundit,
I don’t know how long you’ve been visiting the site, but I recognize your name from other posts. You’ve ben here awhile.
I’ve been visiting for at least 3 years, and I can tell you that AP has become less objective and more blatantly left-leaning with each passing year. Not sure if he’s becoming more liberal, or if it’s just becoming more obvious.
He’s also become less tolerant of dissenting views from commentors, and I’ve witnessed him yank their access for less than stellar reasons.
Those of us who’ve been coming to this site for the rare comraderie of Conservatism tend to avoid his posts, if at all possible, because of the reasons I’ve listed above.
If I wanted to read his set of views consistently, I’d go to Huffington Post, as I’m quite sure there are bloggers there with similar dispositions to AP’s…the female lawyer I’ve seen on the “Great American Panel” blogs on the Huffington Post, and I think she’s very logical in making her arguments, and doesn’t discount one side outright unless stating it as her opinion, unlike this particular post from AP, for example.
Not saying I think people should trash each other unnecessarily, but you have to see that we’re getting frustrated with this progression AP’s been making to the left, as well his attitude towards those who are very Conservative, very religious, etc. I’m being nice here when I say it borders on condescension…and I don’t fit in half the categories of those he derides.
So let’s see who tries to trash me for stating my opinion as rationally as humanly possible, all because I disagree with AP and his supporters…I even look forward to seeing if AP can handle honest criticism that has not resported to ad hominem attacks of any kind, and will be highly amused if he can’t and yanks my access.
Well, I’m waiting…

Reading the emails “obtained by Fox News” reveals that there was quite a bit of tension between Lewis and Prejean.
IMHO, Prejean — rightly or wrongly — believed she was being sabotaged. She continued to insist on security at her events, which makes perfect sense considering that she is a target of the Gay-stapo, people who are known for elaborately planned, telegenic, and violent protests. Perez Hilton said in his infamous vlog that “If that girl would have won Miss USA, I would have gone up on stage, I sh*t you not, [and] snatched that tiara off her head…”

We’ve already forgotten who the Miss USA 2009 winner is. Quick, tell me her name or even the state she was from without
Googling herBinging her. This is what’s absolutely ridiculous to me about this whole situation: Outside of ogling the swimsuit competition, it’s hard to find people who give two spits about either the Miss USA or Miss Universe competition, and even fewer care what she does after her teary walk down the runway and before showing up to crown her successor. The last time I saw Miss USA on the news before earlier this year was when the reigning titleholders slipped on their evening gowns on their behinds during consecutive Miss Universe competitions 2007-2008. On the big night in 2007 in Mexico City, when Miss USA Rachel Smith made the semifinal round and stepped forward to answer a question by a Miss Universe judge, she was booed mercilessly by attendees chanting “Meh-hee-co! Meh-hee-co!” (Of course, the NBC News freaks blamed America for that.)
Now, because a big gay ox was gored, it’s a national scandal all of a sudden if a state beauty queen is deemed unfit to be a member of the State Department. I was relieved when Prejean was retained after Lewis & Moakler’s backstabbing act so I could quit caring about Miss USA, just like I always have in-between swimsuit competitions. But now, it’s been turned into another front in the cultural wars.
Just when I thought I was out, they’ve pulled me back in.
L.N. Smithee on June 11, 2009 at 1:38 PM
Excellent point…just look at the different networks. Fox easily has the best looking women. Look at MSNBC, they only have the “butch” component in a two woman set.
Jeff from WI on June 11, 2009 at 2:20 PM

Marauder on June 11, 2009 at 2:23 PM
You conveniently left out the fact that I noted when the “ratio changed to 60% female/40% male on the second day of shooting and Tom Cruise was all smiles, glad handing with anyone that made eye contact, posing for pictures with women of all ages, etc.”
You agree with the actor’s decision to destroy one of his fan’s private property (the teenage boy’s camera) for wanting to take a picture with the star on one day. You must then also agree that it’s acceptable behavior for the same actor to smile for photographs on the set of the same movie–photos often taken with disposable cameras similar to the one smashed earlier and would result in photos that were also unauthorized by the production company and the studio–because an actor can arbitrarily tell certain fans their “interaction is unnecessary.”
I work as a project management consultant for a multibillion dollar and therefore I’m also “pressured.” In that kind of organization if I was sarcastic, impulsive, inconsiderate of others, I would not be contributing to the overall success of the enterprise.
Then again I’m not an actor or a well-known celebrity… I’m also not a jerk.
