Scarborough wonders: Is Palin still a viable presidential candidate?

Answer: Yes, but time’s running out. As much as you guys may hate Kathleen Parker, there’s some wisdom in her latest Palin-bash. Even Ann Coulter, in naming Palin 2008′s conservative of the year, acknowledged that she needs to master national policy before making another run at higher office. There’s been precious little evidence thus far that she’s done so; on the contrary, aside from a pro-life speech or two, most Palin headlines have been devoted to her photo op in front of the turkey slaughterhouse or the endless Johnston/Palin family drama or the “will she or won’t she” attendance sagas at GOP events, from the congressional dinner clusterfark to the CPAC clusterfark. No more drama. Either buckle down as a serious candidate or declare now that you’re not running and let the freak-show coverage run its course. Can we agree at least on that?

Don’t be too tough on Parker. I’m sure she has spent over $100,000 on facelifts and reconstructive surgery so she won’t like her age (which is about 60). It’s all part of her carefully orchestrated campaign to move to left (while still pretending to be a conservative).

When I quickly scroll past Parker or Noonan nowadays the impression I still get isn’t so much that of their sharing MoDo’s fear of fading beauty it is their wishing they could steal the spotlight away from Sarah who becomes the instant center of attention at any party so naturally. Especially when the enthusiastic party attendees are normal people instead of Beltway prima donna fossils anchored in lofty pretensions against those leaders and voters in “flyover country” who, Gasp!, attended state colleges!

When Joe had an evening show, I used to watch him a little bit. I can still watch him, but his supporting cast is unwatchable. He still has spurts of backbone, but he has sold his soul to G.E. and their political ideology. He and Mika have a radio show also, I’ve heard. He’s been up in the Beltway too long.

Noonan, Parker, etc, have moved left, and claim to be the ‘reason’ in the conservative group. They are not. They get plenty of play time from the libs, but conservatives cannot move left. There will be no alternative for American voters when Obama and the libs fall flat. As others have said, I too don’t read their garbage, just a waste of time, or just lib light reading. I need facts, adult reason, not what the libs or consvertives light put out.

If The Final cut was such a great album, then why does Roger Waters practically ignore it in his live shows nowadays. As far as I can tell, the only song that makes his own personal cut is Southampton Dock. Compare this with Thee Wall, Dark Side, Animals, Radio KAOS, and Wish You Were Here, all of which get multiple plays at RW shows.
Face it… both Gilmour and Waters know that The Final Cut was weak sauce. Dark Side might have influenced as many people as Atlas Shrugged. The Final Cut influenced about as many people as a Tommy Chong biography. And only because the stoners liked to clean their weed on both of them.

The conversation did in fact go somewhere, it went my way rather definitively. Dutchwolf could not back up what he was saying about Sarah Palin, or hunting in general, or the behavior of predators, or the history of man as a natural predator.
When confronted with a well reasoned argument backed up by some facts, he got frustrated and just told us all how smart and sophisticated he is. Typical European attitude toward Americans. Also, he said the Governor should be shot from a helicopter, then denied he wanted her killed. All emotionalism, no factual basis.

Simply not true dude. During his tour over the last 3 years he played TWO songs from The Final Cut, Southhampton Dock and the excellent song, The Fletcher Memorial Home. On his previous tour, he also played “Get Your Filthy Hands Off Of My Desert”.
Also, he hasnt played ANYTHING from KAOS for decades…I think you have confused KAOS with Amused To Death.
So, he actually played MORE songs from The Final Cut than Animals on his last two tours (2 songs vs 1 song). For example, on his last tour, he played the two songs I listed and ONE song from Animals (Sheep).
Having said that, there is no doubt that The Wall, Animals, and Dark Side of Moon are all better than The Final Cut. But they are ALL works of genius dude…unlike Tommy Chong’s bio which was a strange thing to bring up.

No one is denying women the freedom to choose to not have sex if they don’t want to take the chance of getting pregnant. Nor is anyone denying women the freedom to use birth control if they choose to be promiscuous. So, I don’t see anywhere where women are being denied the freedom to control their reproductive choices.
What kind of woman would deliberatley choose to get pregnant then kill the baby?

The “fetus” or “clump of cells” or whatever terms you choose to dehumanize the baby with, is a HUMAN BEING with rights under the Constitution JUST LIKE YOU.
This is the moral dilemma that liberas do not want to confront in this issue, because it’s so unpleasant, and interferes with the extreme ideology that’s been constructed to justify the CHOOSE DEATH industry.

It is very relevant. You are positing that there are people that are being denied permission to get married. That is not the case. Anyone can get married to anyone of the opposite sex they want. You are absolutely free to do that. Now, if you are equating “maximum freedom” to breaking state laws…well, I wouldn’t call that “maximum freedom”. I would call that anarchy.

First of all, a fetus is not a human. It has no rights.
Secondly, Mr. Limbaugh believes that women — that is, fully formed human beings — should not have the right to control their own bodies.
Mr. Limbaugh can say he’s all about freedom, but until he gives up his stand against a woman’s reproductive freedom, it’s all just rhetorical bluster.

I’m pointing out to you that you do not support freedom for all Americans yourself, yet you will not acknowledge this fact.
To go back to the “social justice”, you do not support freedom for all Americans. You believe that some Americans are guilty of social crimes, that they have not been given a fair trial with representation to defend themselves.
You want to declare them guilty, and use the force of the Federal Government, backed up by armed law enforcement, to STEAL their fairly earned private property and reward others who have not earned it, contrary to the rights clearly enumerated in the Constitution.
What’s fair about that?
That is not justice, that is theft sanctioned by the Government.
You should really think these issues through more deeply before beclowning yourself with these unsupportable assertions.

All humans are a fetus before they are born
Life begins at conception therefore a human fetus is human otherwise people would be giving birth to chimps or dolphins

SouthernGal, to add to what Brian1972 is saying… liberals like to pick and choose passages from the Constitution to support their positions in freedom. Well, let’s look at the preamble:
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence,[1] promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
Note the word “posterity”. You do know what that word means, don’t you? Despite the fact that SCOTUS chose to make up a new law in the Roe v Wade ruling is unfortunate. Because the Constitution is absolutely silent on the issue of abortion. The Founders, in their wildest imagination, likely did not envision having to deal with something so henious. They put the word “posterity” in the preamble because the wanted to ensure those that would some after them would have the same rights and freedoms. So, that refers to the unborn. Now, like Brian says, you can choose to rationalize your way around that by choosing to define a group of growing cells inside a woman’s womb as something other than a human being. But that doesn’t make it so. I know of no medical case where a fertilized ovum grew into anything other than a human being. Can you site medical evidence to the contrary?

You might just as well have said “I have no rebuttal to your logical position”. Can you defend your position when it comes to state marriage laws? Before you make the attempt, the 14th Amendment does not support your gay marriage case.

Where should I get it from then? That is what it is. You don’t want justice, because there is no trial or representation for those charged. It’s mob rule, the Russian Revolution. It’s not American.

I don’t really care about what the Constitution says in regards to gay marriage, I just wanted to get the point across that Mr. Limbaugh does not really believe in freedom for all Americans in a consistent manner. I think that has been established.
The abortion debate is, like the president said, above my paygrade. It is not for me to judge anyone for their deeply personal and private feelings on this issue.
