Letterman: When I joked about Palin’s daughter having sex, I meant Bristol, not Willow
posted at 8:41 pm on June 10, 2009 by Allahpundit
A sneak preview of tonight’s monologue from EW. He wasn’t joking about her 14-year-old daughter being a prostitute, silly. He was joking about her 18-year-old daughter being a prostitute. Perfectly legal. Whew!
“We were, as we often do, making jokes about people in the news and we made some jokes about Sarah Palin and her daughter [Bristol]… and now they’re upset with me…” Letterman says on tonight’s show. “These are not jokes made about her 14-year-old daughter. I would never, never make jokes about raping or having sex of any description with a 14-year-old girl…. Am I guilty of poor taste? Yes. Did I suggest that it was okay for her 14-year-old daughter to be having promiscuous sex? No.” Saying he hopes he’s “cleared part of this up,” Letterman extended an invitation to Palin to come on the show as a guest.
Don’t you see? He’d never condone statutorily raping a girl who’s underage. All he meant to do was goof on the idea that Palin’s eldest daughter, a single mother with a baby, is a whore. Everything cool now? Let’s move on.

This will continue until there starts to be drastic punishment dealt to those who utter such awful things. In the old days Todd Palin would have called that stack of shit out and shot him between the eyes in a duel. My money is on Palin winning the duel.

Deceiver, dissembler
Your trousers are alight
From what pole or gallows
Shall they dangle in the night?
What infernal serpent
Has lent you his forked tongue?
From what pit of foul deceit
Are all these whoppers sprung?
What red devil of mendacity
Grips your soul with such tenacity?
Will one you cruelly shower with lies
Put a pistol ball between your eyes?
PercyB on June 10, 2009 at 8:45 PM
It was never really uncool. He was a useless, witless buffoon before he made the cracks, and he was after he made them. His apology might move a fraction of his hermit-ridden viewing figures.
Oops. Sorry, Allah.

So, do we get an o’reilly-esque non-apology apology tonight?

She should book an appearance on his show, then CANCEL and go on another show. Like McCain. But without the groveling apology later.
That would be glorious.

No wonder I don’t watch CBS, NBC or ABC. RFD television for real people.

Letterman is a lucky man that it was not my husband he had to deal with, after making a comment about our precious minor daughter. Buck-tooth would have been NO TOOTH.
Ris4victory on June 10, 2009 at 8:46 PM
Conan O’Brien is so much funnier than that washed up old hack Letterman. I think he is so bitter and that bitterness is coming out again now that there’s been another changing of the guard at the show that was supposed to be his legacy. With any luck and some good karma Letterman and Todd Palin will share an elevator ride in the near future. Now that would be the first time Letterman would have made me laugh in decades.

Uh, nice try, Dave – NOT! Remember, the “knocked up” joke was from the night before. Instead of “clarifying” what he meant on the next show, he told the “prostitute” joke about the daughter who was at the baseball game – a 14-year old girl.

No dice, a**hole. You didn’t know the difference between Willow and Bristol.
You insinuated that a 14 year old girl should be raped. Now you’re simply saying that Bristol is a slut for having sex.
He’s only apologizing because people are really really pissed. P*ssy.
Your side does have the monopoly on being a**holes about a supposed joke about a 14 year old girl being raped and hatef*cking conservatives. You should be very very proud.

Do you really find this outrage unjust? You think that saying this kind of stuff is okay?

This kind of thing is outrageous and you shouldn’t be saying it is okay.

Letterman can lick the sweat off of my ex-husband’s balz.
sybilll on June 10, 2009 at 8:54 PM
I think the first dude should publicly insist that Letterman invite him on his show so that he can apologize in person. If Letterman has the stones to do it, Todd Palin should show up wearing tactical unit gear (minus anything illegal). Then sit down in the chair, w/o the handshake, tell Dave, “Ok, I understand you’ve got something to say to me,” with stone cold expression on his face. Let Dave apologize, and then after an uncomfortable pause, Todd jumps to his feet, real fast, which would scare the crap out of Letterman. Does make a move in his direction, just jumps to his fast, all of a sudden. Then Todd says,”I got what I came for,” and walks out. Please, please, please, punk this a-hole, since you can’t punch him.

The world may be ugly, but each man must do what he must
Give in vile Letterman, in a year you will be dust
Now come let our Lady of Justice possess you
In her breathtaking, hair-raising bed
She will tingle your spine
As she captures your heart and your head
PercyB on June 10, 2009 at 8:54 PM
Letterman only wants her for the ratings.
Indian Outlaw on June 10, 2009 at 8:54 PM
Wouldn’t it make the mother of his child fair game? After all, she’s the one who had the baby out of wedlock. Pot, meet kettle.
College Prof on June 10, 2009 at 8:54 PM
“your side” gets to have people suspended/fired for making innapropriate comments about their adult daughters.
“your side” already declared their family “off limits.” (But, apparently, that only applies for the children from “your side, right.)
And, it’s not politics, bucko; it’s real outrage – as in, too bad he didn’t make a “joke” like that in a bar somewhere, so he could get a proper, deserved, beating.
massrighty on June 10, 2009 at 8:54 PM
If Dave’s mother is still living Conan should have her as a guest & ask her what went wrong.

This WILL come to pass with someone eventually, and, I think, with most of us eventually, as a whole.
There is only so far people can push other people, with humiliation, degradation, belittling, condescension, slurs about their children, and so on, and in general treating them worse than dogs – as if they didn’t count, and had no humanity.
The left has gone over that line too many times.
Alana on June 10, 2009 at 8:59 PM

I don’t buy it. He’s using allan colmes’ excuse that he meant a different daughter. I knew it was the younger daughter. This just would show he’s so ignorant of palin and her family he can’t even distinguish between her two eldest daughters, yet he’s willing to badmouth her based on her knowledge of her in everything else.
