Letterman Top Ten: Palin has a “slutty flight attendant look”; Audio: “Pathetic,” says Palin

posted at 3:25 pm on June 9, 2009 by Allahpundit

I bet Ashley Herzog’s bummed he didn’t pull this a day earlier, huh? It would have made a sweet addition to her latest column. The best part: Letterman wondering why Slutty Flight Attendant didn’t stop by the show.

I guess if you can’t make ‘em laugh anymore, you might as well make ‘em wince. You missed your calling as a writer for Playboy, Dave.

Update: Via Conservatives 4 Palin, a double dip of class. This one’s from the monologue.

Update: Conservatives 4 Palin has audio from John Ziegler’s radio show of Palin’s reaction. She’s not amused but cheerful as always.

Update (Ed): John Ziegler has his entire interview with Governor Palin here.

No Debbie, that isn’t A-okay, but what could be found funny about Letterman’s comments? Are you going to justify Letterman’s vulgarity based on someone else’s? Just wondering.

Well, IT, if Bristol Palin had been the butt of the joke, I might concede your point. The problem is that Willow Palin is the daughter that was present with the Governor at Yankee Stadium. Facts matter.

I’ve seen Dave twice in person and would watch him at times on the tube over the last decade plus. However, since his McCain rants during the election, I’ve given up on him. He’s just a senile old coot at this point.

Sad to see a once great mind sullied by liberalism. :_(

RedNewEnglander on June 9, 2009 at 6:46 PM

I never liked ol’ Dave. I wonder what the response from the NOW gang will be?

Texican Ben on June 9, 2009 at 5:58 PM

I used to watch Letterman back in the 80s when I was in high school…at the age when you think smart-ass humor is the absolute best.

NOW stopped being relevant during the revelations of Clinton’s sexcapades.

ddrintn on June 9, 2009 at 6:47 PM

I like Palin but the jabbering classes will not character her other than as a hick.

They characterized Reagan as a two-bit B-movie actor. Seemed to work out well for him. (and yes, he was also an ex-Governor…I know)

They charactized Carter as a hick peanut farmer.

sonnyspats1 on June 9, 2009 at 6:56 PM

David Letterman is a gap-toothed classless chauvinist.
He is afraid of Sarah as well, and maybe he’s trying to be like Tina Fey with the cruddy jokes. I stopped watching his show eons ago and same with SNL.

ReformedLiberalHippy on June 9, 2009 at 7:00 PM

The more Palin gets talked about by the lunatic fringe, the more relevant she becomes. When was the last time we heard ANYTHING about Huckabee? Romney sticks his head up occasionally, and it generally gets ignored. In the long run this is all goodness for Palin.

Fed45 on June 9, 2009 at 7:01 PM

Dave thinks he knows what he’s talking about because his mother, Dorothy, was a slattern.

waterhouse on June 9, 2009 at 7:01 PM

“Pretty pathetic” is a very polite way of expressing how disgusting and cowardly Letterman’s comments were. I’m sure her husband would like to spend a few minutes with Letterman to set him straight about his daughter and making those types of comments about his wife.

I don’t condone violence in all situations, but Letterman deserves at least a punch in the nose for those remarks. He’s a bore.

Seriously though has she been in Alaska at all since she ran as VP? No wonder her approval ratings have plummeted.
crr6 on June 6, 2009 at 9:05 PM

She starts out saying that Sarah had a positive impact on the McCain campaign, then states that, “If McCain hadn’t picked her he might have won”

It’s interesting that Letterman made such a thing out of Bristol Palin when he fathered a child out of wedlock himself. Jeffrey Toobin of CNN just knocked up Jeff Greenfield’s daughter while he’s married to another woman. That’s not news, but Bristol Palin’s is.

This is absolutely disgusting. I can’t believe CBS will allow him to get away with this. He should be fired. The only thing I watch on CBS is Survivor sometimes and I’ll tell you right now never again will I watch CBS if they don’t do somethin about Letterman’s behavior towards Palin. I’m also contacting the sponsors if someone lists who they are.

My friend, a producer, said that Lettereman likes to play kingmaker and that this is typical of him if he gets mad. She thinks he probably tried real hard to get Palin to come on and she turned him down and this is his payback.

Another thing that has been bothering me is the way the Hill and other Leftist publications lie and misrepresent what happend about the GOP fundraiser night. It was totally the NRSC that jumped the gun in announcing Palin had accepted thier invite. She had not committed because she wasn’t sure at that point she could do it. Then they asked Newt to be their keynote speaker because they wouldn’t wait for the AK legislative session to end and then Palin would know. Then they re-invite her and ask her to speak and then they disinvite her again because they don’t want Newt upstaged and they should look stupid but the Leftist try to make it look like Palin got miffed, is a Diva and was the cause of the problems and she wasn’t. For Palin to show up after all that shows how self assured, patient and classy she is. It just makes me sick the way the Hatefilled Left treats her.

Crusty on June 9, 2009 at 8:16 PM

I do think the veneer of civilization is a bit too thick. Well, that only applies to attacks on conservative groups. If you say anything about the leftist’s pets you get charged with a hate crime.

Anyway, the gap toofed garbage head is real lucky there is that veneer. He should remember that Brisol and Willows father is a guy who got thrown 70 feet off a snowmobile, got patched up, remounted and still managed to finish fourth in a 1000 mile plus snowmobile race. Davey boy is a classic metrosexual. He hides behind ‘civilization’ knowing that he is relatively immune from the righteous rage of a pissed off father.

Oh, for the liberal trolls remaining out there. Here is a homework assignment.

– Compare and contrast the treatment Don Imus received for one comment with the media coverage of Davey Dorkhead.

– Bonus Question – Please describe obama’s “Special olympics” comment in terms of (1) The way the media handled that and (2) Obama’s follow up response.

This is my first comment.

We should be focusing more attention on more forceful conservatives like Michele Bachmann, Marsha Blackburn, Mary Fallin, etc. They get less press, but they are a lot more articulate.

Marsha Blackburn went after Al Gore for his cap-and-trade investments, recently.

Meanwhile, Michele Bachmann was tearing into Barney Frank regarding subsidies for ACORN, even though they are under investigation.

There are better female conservatives! Palin is just OK.

Hey, the problem is not articulateness. The issue is courage. I like those other women too. BUT, they are not nearly as charismatic or COURAGEOUS as Gov. Palin.

Courage is what we need in the WH to dismantle the socialist wasteland while all kinds of screams and cries go up to stop.

Sapwolf on June 9, 2009 at 8:51 PM

yoda on June 9, 2009 at 8:54 PM

One must understand the psychology behind the hatred of Palin. First, many women despise Palin because they’re insecure in their own worth and they see a woman, who is doing it all. In fact, I can’t think of another woman in America who is doing more with her life, being a wife, mother, governor, breadwinner, bread baker, snow mobile riding, hunting & fishing, not hard on the eyes woman. Face it, she’s as close to what the pioneer type strong women of the “manifest destiny” days that you’re going top see in the 21st century.
Weak liberal guys hate her because, well let’s face it,she can do more, is stronger and more courageous than any of these prissy “sissy boys” can and they resent her for it.

Yeah, there is something to that. Many women believed that competing at the highest level of academia and then putting off motherhood to some degree in order to climb the corporate ladder faster than their male peers was the feminist prescription for power and influence.

Palin does represent an alternate non-feminist-approved route to power and influence. As you point out she does have a well-rounded life. More so than many who have spent their formative years finding their way through the corridors of power. However, Palin does need to strengthen her intellectual credentials. Many women listen to her speak and hear someone who relies more on charm and being folksy than knowledge of government and the economy.

crr6 on June 9, 2009 at 9:15 PM

More proof that the troll crr6 is calling herself names:

There’s no disputing she was a drag on the ticket overall. Sure she energized the base during the first week or so after her pick (a temporary bump from making a VP pick is common) but her increasingly suspect interviews and media appearances led to doubts about her readiness, especially among independents. There’s some polling and analysis on it here.
crr6 on June 6, 2009 at 9:21 PM

This is a “combo stupid & dishonest crr6 post”: First Sarah was a ‘drag’; then she ‘energized the base’. Then crr6 misrepresents what happened in the campaign and repeats the Demo Talking Point about “increasingly suspect interviews”. The ’polling data’ is an article about campaign events which actually notes the significant help that Sarah has been for the Republican ticket—about a dozen paragraphs in.

So crr6 either lied about the linked article or was too stupid to understand its content and point of view.

Sarah Palin gets the media coverage because she is charismatic and dynamic.

Saying that other ladies should get more coverage is like saying Tiger Woods should get less coverage to give other golfers a chance to showcase their talents.

There is a reason that TW gets so much TV coverage; it is definitely from a ratings and advertising point of view and not at all misplaced; and neither is the coverage of Sarah Palin.

I wanna give you a thumbs up on what you wrote. I know I was the one that told you it was willow and not bristol. I think that bugged you to now end.

I think you did well, but I don’t wanna post it over in the Green Room as you can’t read the comments.

Good Stuff Treach. **Hugs to you**

I would really like to have a front row seat at the Letterman show and a couple of size 12 men’s shoes in my hands and I would clobber him. He is classless and a bitter liberal. Go Sarah!

To understand this hatred of Palin, take a walk in Central Park about 1PM.See fleets of minority Nannies talking on cell phones while their white infant charges, neatly tucked into their 2500 dollar prams, stare into space, practicing that avoidance of eye contact for which the city is famous.. These days the twofer is popular, with the lighter newborn on the bottom, just off the pavement. Saves space, cash, and the back of your expensive serf.. Sunday is more Norman Rockwell.. Mom in her Choos yaks with her buddies at the swing set while dad in his ‘gatered Warren Edwards loafers cuts deals with his buddies, absentmindedly pushing junior to and fro. Nan is there though to wrap it all up and carry off the little trophies to the full floor on fifth. Come and see. Alaska has produced the Antichrist to convenience.

Before I used think Letterman was just running out of teh funny. But now I realise that he wasn’t funny to begin with.

All I can say is that if Letterman likes cheap shots so much he better be careful because someone might just decide to give him a cheap shot of their own….Straight to his balls (All though I seriously doubt that he actually has any).

Some of the difference may come down to the cost of real estate in Manhattan vs Alaska. Probably more people live within 3 miles of your walk in Central Park than live in all of Alaska.

Wow! Did you think of that all by yourself?

I’m sure he wouldn’t have displeased you if he’d known you could come up with such an original retort.

upinak on June 9, 2009 at 10:05 PM

No problem. Going after a little girl because he hates her mom is over the line.

I said she was a drag on the ticket overall. I said she energized the base at first. Explain to me how these statements are contradictory.

crr6 on June 9, 2009 at 9:51 PM

You honestly don’t see it? LOL and if she energized the base only “at first, we wouldn’t be talking about her now, would we? You wouldn’t be bothering with a thread about Sarah Palin, would you? Nahhhhh.
