Letterman Top Ten: Palin has a “slutty flight attendant look”; Audio: “Pathetic,” says Palin
posted at 3:25 pm on June 9, 2009 by Allahpundit
I bet Ashley Herzog’s bummed he didn’t pull this a day earlier, huh? It would have made a sweet addition to her latest column. The best part: Letterman wondering why Slutty Flight Attendant didn’t stop by the show.
I guess if you can’t make ‘em laugh anymore, you might as well make ‘em wince. You missed your calling as a writer for Playboy, Dave.
Update: Via Conservatives 4 Palin, a double dip of class. This one’s from the monologue.
Update: Conservatives 4 Palin has audio from John Ziegler’s radio show of Palin’s reaction. She’s not amused but cheerful as always.
Update (Ed): John Ziegler has his entire interview with Governor Palin here.

Re: Your Remark about Sarah Palin’s 14-year-old Daughter
Please write or rewrite your remark on a notepad on your desk. Now please cross-out the name of Sarah Palin’s daughter and place the name of your child there.
Now try to laugh.
I hope it makes you cry.
Lourdes on June 9, 2009 at 4:48 PM
That joke reminds us why liberals won’t rest untill just about every 14-year-old girl is on birth control– so that fifty-something-old men can use and joke about them as the sex objects they are clearly (to a liberal’s mind) meant to be.
Sheena_is_a_Conservative_Now on June 9, 2009 at 4:48 PM
Wondering that myself, MikeA. The flight attendants I have flown with seem like decent, hardworking people. None of them seemed overtly slutty.
Wonder what this gap-toothed twit is talking about?
Jaibones on June 9, 2009 at 4:49 PM
Just another reason why I haven’t watched Dave in 20+ years.
rukiddingme on June 9, 2009 at 4:49 PM
I was just about to bring this up, then read that you just did: many flight attendants are not only male today but also are homosexual males. Seems to place the Left in a twist when that’s reasoned in, no wiggle room.
Lourdes on June 9, 2009 at 4:50 PM
You think maybe he is related to Biden? That would explain a lot.
MikeA on June 9, 2009 at 4:51 PM
Sad to see him let his anger get the best of him. Should leave the show before he has a melt down
pastorrick on June 9, 2009 at 4:52 PM
How low can you sink? Is there no bottom? Is he really that vicious? Probably very amiable with his friends. Does he really believe in what he says? Or it’s just the money he earns?
Garbage. Rubbish. Rot in hell.
albertpale on June 9, 2009 at 4:54 PM
It’s ok. Dave’s just rocking that “pretending to be funny” look.
TheUnrepentantGeek on June 9, 2009 at 4:55 PM
Such class, Letterman! It’s why I don’t bother watching, haven’t for years.

Lower than scum.
faraway on June 9, 2009 at 4:56 PM
But it’s A-Okay for the Draft Palin people and other Palin maniacs to tell me I should get cancer and make other classy comments about vibrators. They have even less class than Letterman.
Debbie Schlussel on June 9, 2009 at 4:58 PM
As a retired airline pilot,,I really resent this guy. Most of the FAs that I have worked with[both male and female] are complete professionals. This guy has always been a smarmy, smart ass and his audience is the same. As for conservatives[so called] who appear on his show,,they are crazy,,,,it is about time they showed some class,,that is why Gov Palin will never appear. He will only attempt to back stab and smear, in the name of “humor”. This guy is a low class piece of crap.
retiredeagle on June 9, 2009 at 4:58 PM
Even if he said that about TFLOTUS I would be ap-palled. Feminists — your turn, if you have the …. well
albertpale on June 9, 2009 at 4:58 PM
I love how Mark Levin went off on Letterman go to 6:15.
jencab on June 9, 2009 at 5:00 PM
I agree with you, Dave, I cannot see Sarah winning a national election, but I also see the point of the others on this board. When are the citizens of this country going to start rejecting this leftist drivel and begin to understand that they are being played for chumps?
I understand the New York, San Francisco, Hollywood, Seattle, Portland, Boston et. al., crowd slobbering over every word that seeps from this vacuum heads mouth as gospel, but what of the rest of the country? When are they going to wake up and see this guy, and his ilk, for what they are? Bottom line, they don’t give a hang about them or their values!
If, and that’s a big IF, conservatives can capitalize on the growing dissatisfaction with the economy, and take that into other areas, then Sarah would have an excellent chance. But, as the way things are now, she has no chance.
Joe Pyne on June 9, 2009 at 5:01 PM
It’s nice to know that being a misogynistic pig is just fine with liberal “feminists”, when it’s foisted on a smart and classy conservitive women.
It’s ok though because it just proves how much more poise and grace our side has. Besides, at least we know the decent men will be respectful even though the liberal one’s don’t know how.
babydoll4you on June 9, 2009 at 5:01 PM
I’d gladly help hold Letterman while Mr. Palin knocks the daylight out of him.

Letterman’s still upset because McCain stood him up for Katie — it’s transferred agression.
EconomicNeocon on June 9, 2009 at 5:03 PM
OT- Beck is on and is goofing on czars. He just said, “Didn’t they take the czars out into the woods and shoot them or something?” LOL! Likening the czars to dictators. This is good!
freeus on June 9, 2009 at 5:05 PM
Think about.
Here you have an angry, sour, elitist gap-toothed lowlife who made millions, using 14 yr old girls as rape-victims in jokes without blinking.
vs.
A self-made woman who juggles raising 5 children (one disabled), becomes governor of the largest state in the union, has weathered daily vicious attacks of the worst kind on herself and family, yet manages to stay sunny and cheerful.
Norwegian on June 9, 2009 at 5:05 PM
Letterman’s wife is a the homeliest cow I’ve ever seen. A slutty flight attendant wouldn’t spit on him if he was on fire and he knows it.
volsense on June 9, 2009 at 5:05 PM
So let me get this straight: because some no-names who happen to like Sarah Palin went after you means that Letterman can joke about sexually assaulting a teenager?
Or, for that matter, that you can continually refer to Bristol with the derogatory term “baby mama”. Or even that you can infer that Sarah Palin is an idiot simply based on the names of her children?
Get over yourself.
Snowed In on June 9, 2009 at 5:07 PM
Dave, retire — you’re time has come.
Richard Romano on June 9, 2009 at 5:07 PM
Dave, seriously, let…it…go…you won.
TightAggressive on June 9, 2009 at 5:09 PM
It’s no more okay for them to sit in judgment of you, than it is for you to sit in judgment of Bristol Palin by labeling her “slut” and “baby momma”.
Perhaps if you didn’t so quickly condemn, you wouldn’t be so quickly condemned?
Lady Texan on June 9, 2009 at 5:09 PM
I am very sorry people said those horrible things to you. Why are you complaining about it on HotAir?
Cindy Munford on June 9, 2009 at 5:10 PM
Excellent point! I totally agree. However, a very bright, quick wittted, fearless, conservative who has nothing to lose, could go on that show and make a fool of him. If he had the guts, Dennis Miller could pull it off, but I don’t think he wants to risk burning bridges. The others would be Mark Stein, or Greg Gutfeld. Gutfeld is the kind of guy who wouldn’t sit there with a dumb look on his face when Letterman goes off on him (like Rush did), he would slice and dice him before he could say Mommie. A guy like Hitchens (if he was conservative) would be ideal.
Letterman could be taken down, it would be difficult – his home turf, his crowd – but it can be done.
Joe Pyne on June 9, 2009 at 5:10 PM
Sarah didn’t mind him saying stuff about her. Ziegler should have played the clip about Willow. I am sure she would have blasted him out.
promachus on June 9, 2009 at 5:10 PM
Letterman is very brave when he can make these comments in the safety of a television studio. Wonder if he is so bold to make them to someone’s face while standing on a street corner. I am looking forward to the day someone catches him in public and we find out how brave Letterman is. I don’t think Sarah Palin will ever want to waste her time with this pompous, liberal fool.
NotFondOfLibs on June 9, 2009 at 5:10 PM
Letterman,
vile and hateful,
and sickening!!
canopfor on June 9, 2009 at 5:13 PM
Letterman is very brave when he can make these statements from the safety of a television studio. I doubt that he is so brave out in public where he has to face the person he is ridiculing. I look forward to the day someone catches him on a street corner and deals with him. I don’t think Sarah Palin would waste her time coming on his pathetic program.
NotFondOfLibs on June 9, 2009 at 5:13 PM
Can’t? I disagree. The next time Todd Palin is in the same building as this pansy he could walk up, spit in his face, and dare Letterman to take a swing. He takes a swing and Todd beats him senseless (which wouldn’t take long), or he walks away like the scummy little coward that he is (more likely).
But no jury in the world would convict Palin for knocking Letterman’s teeth out. You don’t joke about the rape of a 14 year old girl. It’s not funny, and her Dad might beat you bloody.
Jaibones on June 9, 2009 at 5:16 PM
This thread isn’t about you. Nice try, though.
a capella on June 9, 2009 at 5:17 PM
Just look at the ratings to know what this type of one-sided lampooning leads to. Both Couric and Letterman are in the cellar, as is MSNBC, while they continue to play to a small element of the nation.
Palin is a very sympathetic character and should continue to meet such vitriol with rational, and cheerful, responses.
cee on June 9, 2009 at 5:17 PM
Well, I’m sure you would agree that two wrongs don’t make it right, Lady Texan. Debbie has serious anger issues, and her judgment needs a little calibration, but she doesn’t deserve that kind of vileness from fellow conservatives.
But, your point is valid.
Joe Pyne on June 9, 2009 at 5:18 PM
Why is anyone surprised by this? He’s the Cindy Sheehan of late night television. Apparently the only ones still watching him are studying the effects of cerebral infarction and necrosis of brain tissue – rubbernecking the car wreck that is Late Night – or those suffering from the same maladies.

And this clown fails to see any humor in the current administration.
If Sarah Palin has a slutty flight attendent look, what does the jet setter Michelle Obama look like?
jack herman on June 9, 2009 at 5:22 PM
Why let David Letterman/MSM/Lefties everywhere win? Is Palin unelectable because of the success of the smear job or unelectable because of her experience/record/position on the issues? She is precisely what this country needs – someone with an awesome record, practical experience, common sense and a love for her country (among other things). Don’t let the slime-ball media and Letterman win. Pragmatism most often results in failure. Just ask the RINOs.
johnnybgood on June 9, 2009 at 5:22 PM

Maybe in the future you shouldn’t post such letters on your main page and give them the advertising; some people like that attention and you are giving it to them.

Looking like a slutty flight attendant is worse than being a Craddle robbing creepy old man?
CMonster on June 9, 2009 at 5:25 PM
Yep, that totally excuses a national talkshow host for talking about a state governor’s underage daughter being sexually assaulted. Well done.
Jim Treacher on June 9, 2009 at 5:25 PM
Guess Letterman will never figure out that only the weakest of men use gender attacks–and especially gender attacks on 18 year olds who have never done him any harm. And..still weaker men actually a laugh at it. “Pathetic” is a vast understatement.
jeanie on June 9, 2009 at 5:25 PM
So you think it is A-OK for Letterman to make such crass and hate filled remarks about a little girl, a Government and the entire profession of Flight Attendants; because someone commenting on a blog said something offensive to about you?
Of course those stupid remarks about you were not A-OK, but can you connect the dots for me as to how that excuses Letterman?
MikeA on June 9, 2009 at 5:26 PM
That was the point of my post, “two wrongs don’t make it right”. Neither does a teen-aged girl deserve that kind of vileness from anyone, much less a fellow conservative female.
Lady Texan on June 9, 2009 at 5:26 PM
Palin IS NOT unelectable.

So that’s supposed to make Palin fair game? I don’t know who you are, hope you don’t get cancer, and couldn’t care less what you do or don’t do with a vibrator.
ddrintn on June 9, 2009 at 5:27 PM
She needs to hit harder. It still can be done all cheery and perky (not in a Katie Couric perky way) but her comebacks need to have have that sting in them. Right now her responses are like hitting a baseball with those yellow plastic bats. Pick up the Louisville bat!
Savrielle on June 9, 2009 at 5:28 PM
Has Dave noticed his new spouse doesn’t look as good as
a slutty flight attendent or even a gay one. . .
I quit watching him right after 9/11 when Dan Rather
started crying (yes tears) about this country never being the same.
I guess Dan was right. . . But only 8 years early.
Texyank on June 9, 2009 at 5:29 PM
Actually, if I’m Todd Palin I know the ultimate punishment for Letterman is taking comfort in the fact the every night I get to go to sleep next to Sarah. And knowing that Letterman is suffering a sad existence knowing he’s becoming more and more irrelvant.
Like the song goes:
My gal is red hot – your gal ain’t doodley squat!
A punch in the face is too quick of a punishment. Letting Letterman continue to suffer in his sad existance and letting continue to lose sleep over worrying that Sarah will soon be POTUS. That’s the ultimate punishment.
Fed45 on June 9, 2009 at 5:30 PM
It’s not okay. But here’s the thing. You throw a turd in someone’s punchbowl, sometimes you get splashed.

rplat on June 9, 2009 at 5:32 PM
Lourdes, etc… on June 9,
I watched both clips again, and honestly I don’t even get why either one is offending you people as much as they are. They’re dumb jokes…so what? I didn’t think anything Letterman said was that inflammatory. Annoying yes, but it’s hard not to be annoyed by jokes making fun of our (and yes, even though I sound like a troll here I’m a Palin supporter) side.
Palin’s daughter got pregnant in real life. Like it or not, it’s fair game to make a joke about it. If she’s old enough to have sex, act like she was going to get married and then back out of it, she’s old enough to have a joke told about her supposed promiscuity. It may not be fair, since she’s only in the public eye because of her mother, but life ain’t fair. That’s what happens to grown-ups.
As for Palin, would the outrage be the same if Letterman said she looked like a sexy/slutty school teacher? Pretty sure that’s the typical male response to her on the right…at least from a lot of the past comments here. That’s not a negative critique of anyone here. It’s unavoidable. She’s hot…in a “slutty” school teacher kind of way. The observation’s a cliché, and an old one at that. Get over it. Otherwise you’re no better than the lefties you accuse of using P.C. gibberish against you all the time.
As an aside, I hope more people start making fun of young girls like Bristol Palin who get themselves knocked up too early. It’s about time we start ostracizing these girls to a certain extent. Might be the best way to convince their peers that abstinence, or at the very least birth control, is the way to go.
Interweb Troll on June 9, 2009 at 5:32 PM
Social conservative women give white liberal comedians the ability to be misogynists without being ostracized. That is why they do it so much.
Speedwagon82 on June 9, 2009 at 5:34 PM
This wasn’t the usual Liberal Bristol Stomp. It was 15-year-old Willow that Letterman was cracking wise about here, joking she had sex with Alex Rodriguez…
This guy is all class.
gridlock2 on June 9, 2009 at 5:36 PM
I really don’t care about Letterman’s “joke”. The anti-Palin stuff reached saturation point a long time ago.
But everyone’s fair game? Really? What about references to Michelle Obama’s looks?
ddrintn on June 9, 2009 at 5:38 PM
I guess Debbie S. also needs to realize that only the weakest of folks make the kinds of awful comments directed at her that she posted here. Gender oriented attacks of any kind are little more than abuse and only abusers(of either sex) indulge in them. These folks apparently have no real issues on which to gain any traction(as in the case of Letterman). These, to me, are the sort of posts that turn me off on any blog that permits them regularly. In the case of Letterman, the point is moot as I gave up watching him a long time ago.

I work for a major airline and the far from slutty looking flight attendants, some with like 40+ years experience behind them, are all talking about how they can’t wait to get Letterman on their next flight so they “accidentally” spill hot coffee in his lap.

29Victor on June 9, 2009 at 5:56 PM
I agree with you, johnny, that was the point of my post. But the fact of the matter is the majority of Americans get their news, and political viewpoints, from the three major networks, Letterman, Colbert, Stewart, et. al. That’s a huge hill to overcome, especially if you are a kind, and decent human being, like Sarah. Unless you can get equally vicious (and I don’t mean act the same as them) and stand up to them, they will take you down. Reagan knew that, and his many years of debating liberals on radio and television, really paid off for the campaign trail. No one, and I mean NO ONE, could get the drop on him in a debate, or an interview. When he needed to, he could growl, “I paid for this microphone Mr…..” or, “Well, there you go again…”
Joe Pyne on June 9, 2009 at 5:56 PM

Your I.D. is well applied, but, then, you know that already.
You don’t “see anything offensive” in Letterman (in his own mind, I doubt little elsewhere except in the minds of others as demented or perverse as Letterman) using “comedy” to describe the rape of a fourteen-year-old child?
I’ll leave you up to Allahpundit here because your problems are just too wretched for me to interact with any more generously than I already have.
Lourdes on June 9, 2009 at 6:00 PM
When is David Letterman going to start making “jokes” about the Obama children being sexually molested? I don’t see any difference in doing so from what he’s already said about Palin’s 14-year old daughter.
The point is, that this entire area is PERVERSE and VILE. Letterman can try to cover his perversity with the premise of “comedy” but it’s plain-old, creepy, disgusting perversity he’s displaying.
Lourdes on June 9, 2009 at 6:03 PM
Reason 1089 why Letterman is a schmuck.
I’d be surprised if NOW would even do a response. It’s ok to be sexist about conservatives, but not about liberals.
NOW is soooo then, and doesn’t seem to be real viable.
And, by the way, I am a liberal, but totally disgusted with the Dims.

suzyk on June 9, 2009 at 6:11 PM
I’m a Mitt Romney supporter, but this in very inappropriate. I actually think the remark about her daughter getting ‘knocked up’ bye Alex was so far out of bounds, How would they like it if a comedian made a remark like that about one of Obama’s daughters in a few years, or now for that matter? I wonder if they could not sue him for it? The remark involving the airline hostess’ was more of a cut on them than Sarah.
conservativeguy on June 9, 2009 at 6:12 PM
Letterman has been in NYC too long and has forgotten his Indiana roots and upbringing. Midwest people loath this kind of crass humor and relegate these kind of remarks to people who live on the other side of the tracks.

Snowed In on June 9, 2009 at 6:18 PM
I hadn’t watched Leno or this putz in many, many months if not years, so with Leno leaving the Tonight Show I thought I’ld watch his last week. I could only watch small portions.
The jokes (and I use that term loosley) were the same. You would think it was Bush’s 2nd year in office. All the jokes were Bush/Clinton. Same with O’Brian’s first couple shows.
These buttwipes are cowards, pure and simple. They don’t dare joke about the messiah. The closest they come is a joke about Biden. They are cowards without talent and it shows.
(like obberdunce, I don’t have to click on the image to know what they said,…..so I didn’t)
oakpack on June 9, 2009 at 6:20 PM
This is the reason Letterman has lost to Leno in the ratings battle for 16 over the last 17 years. He has become a mean spirited curmudgeon without a bit decency to spare when people of the opposite political persuasion visit his show. He is a left-leaning, boot licking lackey for the liberal cause.
