Joe doesn’t know Porkulus from a hole in the ground

posted at 1:35 pm on June 9, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

God love ya, Mr. Vice President.  At least someone in this administration gives back some value, albeit strictly in terms of entertainment.  The Wise Grayhair selected by Barack Obama to give him more credibility on executive experience demonstrated the depth of his own abilities yesterday, when Joe Biden — who supposedly runs the stimulus effort for the Obama administration — showed his ignorance of where the money goes:

That new tunnel? The one NJ Transit has been touting for years? That the Federal Transit Administration made a huge commitment to on Monday?

It’s for cars.

Or so Vice President Biden apparently thinks.

Biden had just finished telling reporters on a conference call Monday that federal stimulus money might have gone out slower in the past few months than some people liked because, “We don’t end up with any major glitches.” …

“Look, this is designed, this totally new tunnel, is designed to provide for automobile traffic,” Biden said. “It’s something, as you know, up your way, that’s been in the works and people have been clamoring for for a long time.”

For the record, the tunnel is for trains, and its completion would allow for more NJ Transit trains during peak hours and “one-seat” rides into Midtown Manhattan on lines serving Bergen and Passaic counties. Currently riders on those lines must switch trains.

Now, in Biden’s defense, he probably wanted to promote the sale of cars, especially from Government Motors.  After all, Biden warned us about taking public transportation in April.  Why, those trains are nothing but epidemic amplifiers!  Why would anyone want to ride trains when they could buy perfectly nice green vehicles from GM, as soon as customers meet the asking price of $699,999.95?

Is it too much to ask to have the people in charge of spending $800 billion know the purposes of the projects they fund?  Can we have someone this ignorant in charge of that much money?  In the Obama administration — yes, we can!

Nobody messes with Joe, as Obama said in February.  That’s because no one has to in order to find some amusement.  (via Michelle)

The bad thing about hair-plugs is all the work you have to do to create an acceptable foundation for seating them. It involves clearing out substantial area beneath the scalp. Thankfully Joe wasn’t using that stuff anyway.

Yes, with these people in charge of the economic future of the US, what could possibly go wrong? I feel much better now. At least Joe knows that much of this money is going to fraud, waste and abuse anyway. Who cares exactly where it goes, since it’s been so effective in stimulating the economy thus far.

Is it too much to ask to have the people in charge of spending $800 billion know the purposes of the projects they fund? Can we have someone this ignorant in charge of that much money? In the Obama administration — yes, we can!

Let’s be realistic here. Biden or anybody cannot possibly be so detail-oriented that they know ever aspect of every project in this massive and ill-advised attempt at throwing money at all our problems. It is perfectly rational in this insane time to be spending trillions to build more roads at the same time we are spending trillions to have fewer cars on the roads. Even the most intelligent person in the country would be confused and Joe isn’t even in the same time zone with the most intelligent person in the country.

Nevertheless, somebody in the administration needs to be fired for letting this complete and total jackass get in front of the cameras and spout stuff that (at a minimum) makes the administration appear confused about its own priorities. I’m fast coming to the conclusion that Obama deliberately picked Biden as a pre-emptive strike against impeachment. Unlike Clinton who pleaded the 5th, all Obama has to do is to point at Biden and say- get rid of me and look what you get.

My only criticism of this form of civil protest is that it deals with half of a larger problem. Getting the politicians to stop is great but this administration and this President needs to be held accountable for every cent that he has spent on the UAW, ACORN, and all the rest of the ways he has enriched beyond measure his friends and allies. We are told that the American public is making a good investment in shoring up GM and Chrysler. The filthy liar in the White House needs to prove that and I’d like to see that part of the TEA Party agenda too.
