Comment registration open! Update: Registration closed

posted at 8:00 am on June 9, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

It’s been months since the last open registration day, so we’re opening the books once again.  First read our Terms of Service, and if you agree, register through this link and follow the steps.  Be patient; we have to approve the first comment of each new registrant, so please don’t keep resubmitting when it doesn’t appear immediately.  We will eventually get them all.

Welcome to Hot Air!

Update: Had a bad link at first, but it’s fixed now!

Update II: It goes without saying that people who try trolling on their first comment will get banned right out of the gate, as well as previously banned commenters.  This is not an amnesty; it’s an opportunity to expand the community.  Dissent isn’t trolling — in fact, we love a good debate — and we know trolling when we see it.

Update (AP): It’s midnight on the east coast and the door is closed. Welcome, new registrants!

Blowback

Note from Hot Air management: This section is for comments from Hot Air's community of registered readers. Please don't assume that Hot Air management agrees with or otherwise endorses any particular comment just because we let it stand. A reminder: Anyone who fails to comply with our terms of use may lose their posting privilege.

Now that you are coming to your senses, why don’t you try and log onto your computer as the administrator and set up a different user profile on your computer and log on that way?
It couldn’t hurt to try.

Did my helpful spirit insult your intelligence?

If so, please forgive the Gypsies in Australia.

To Ed or Allah, my daughter just tried to register & it said something about “…IP address forbidden…” Is that because I may have used her laptop to view HotAir? I know she used a “static” email address (”permanent” vs. hotmail, etc) & I don’t ever remember logging in/posting from her computer. Also, sometime before the election, I recall my husband being all fired up at some troll here & trying registering from his computer at school & he got the same message. Do you now have a policy of only one commenter per family/household (she doesn’t live at home anymore) or something?

NightmareOnKStreet on June 9, 2009 at 2:06 PM

NightmareOnKStreet on June 9, 2009 at 4:43 PM

Seriously, with IP addresses being non-static these days, it could be anything, as in the IP address she is operating under now, was used by someone else on an entirely different computer to sign up on Hot Air, on another day!

Highly unlikely, but still, nothing is impossible these days with technology being so integrated and crossing over so many-what used to be barriers, before.

I don’t delve into the highly technical issues extensively enough to be an expert.

My experience with technicians is that things are so complicated now that it hurts their brain on many occasions.

But what I do, is come up with ideas that one can try and therefore see if a new path can be formed.

Have your daughter try and log into her computer as the administrator and then set up a different user altogether and try to register from that user profile.

If that doesn’t work, then the computer has to be setup with a completely different IP address….or go to a different computer.

Otherwise, sorry to disturb your universe.

NightmareOnKStreet on June 9, 2009 at 4:52 PM

I thought that was a different motion. Ginsburg is dealing with the motion by secured creditors (Indiana retired teachers’ pension) are not happy that the UAW has been put to the head of the line. According to the “old” laws, secured creditors are supposed to be at the front in a bankruptcy. This is especially juicy when the NEA contributed and the UAW both gave so much to the Obama campaign.

My understanding is that the dealership issue was separate.

Thanks Laura, you are right- Justice Ginsburg’s ruling to temporarily halt the bankruptcy until the other 8 Justices analyze it, still stands. It was a lower court judge who just gave the ok to close 789 dealerships. BTW: on FNC’s Glenn Beck, there was a great analysis of Obama’s GM policy vs the Constitution & 230 years of law being erased with no Congressional debate or even any attempt to amend the Constitution. It reruns at 2AM Eastern for anyone who cares to see it.

No worries, Americannodash. As a general rule, not many of us are the “sensitive” type here. As to your desire that Obama start governing, I honestly don’t think he’s capable of it. First and foremost, he would have to open his mind and be willing to learn, from people who truly know how this all works. He strikes me as incapable of that. His entire sense of self seems to be bound up in an arrogant and supercilious sense that he knows what’s best in every instance, for everyone. Jon Voight, in his excellent speech from last night, made a remark about him speaking to other nations like a schoolteacher. I doubt very many people wondered what he was talking about.
