Comment registration open! Update: Registration closed
posted at 8:00 am on June 9, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
It’s been months since the last open registration day, so we’re opening the books once again. First read our Terms of Service, and if you agree, register through this link and follow the steps. Be patient; we have to approve the first comment of each new registrant, so please don’t keep resubmitting when it doesn’t appear immediately. We will eventually get them all.
Welcome to Hot Air!
Update: Had a bad link at first, but it’s fixed now!
Update II: It goes without saying that people who try trolling on their first comment will get banned right out of the gate, as well as previously banned commenters. This is not an amnesty; it’s an opportunity to expand the community. Dissent isn’t trolling — in fact, we love a good debate — and we know trolling when we see it.
Update (AP): It’s midnight on the east coast and the door is closed. Welcome, new registrants!

Blowback
Note from Hot Air management: This section is for comments from Hot Air's community of registered readers. Please don't assume that Hot Air management agrees with or otherwise endorses any particular comment just because we let it stand. A reminder: Anyone who fails to comply with our terms of use may lose their posting privilege.

What? You’ve banned all the “good” trolls and need more? Is that it?

Uh-oh. Here we go again. :)

Welcome back, getalife! I wonder what she’ll call herself this time?
DrAllecon on June 9, 2009 at 8:08 AM
Welcome newbies, I expect 100 troll scalps from each of you. No wait, that’s not me that’s Brad Pit talking about Nazis. I’ll settle for 99.
Just remember:
1) Do not feed the trolls, except just prior to rhetorical slaughter.
2) Humping robots are not only funny but necessary.
3) If you believe 9/11 was an inside job, please turn off your computer and go play in traffic.

Pass the Tylenol. Here we go again. Be on the look out for The Wall and Noneya, too. I love this, but then again I’ve been married twice and got engaged Monday.

I’ve got $5 that says getalife re-registers as “wiselatina”.
myrenovations on June 9, 2009 at 8:24 AM
I don’t mind the trolls so much. They now have their guy in office and are getting bolder in revealing their true psychotic nature. That is an education you couldn’t purchase.
csdeven on June 9, 2009 at 8:25 AM
I know we were all newbie’s once, but I think I’m gonna take about a week off to let the dust settle.
Or maybe not.
BigD on June 9, 2009 at 8:26 AM
The way Obama and the dems are starting to crash, I would think the trolls would want to hide their faces.

Finally caught open registration before it closed! Now to help hunt the trolls and change minds.
Hope to be a useful contributor from the rural VA countryside!

Great….a new wave of boring, immature lib trolls to have to ignore while trying to read the comments of substance from the grownups.

Here’s my first contribution as I didn’t know where to put it, but its bugged me all evening. The Boston Globe’s scribes union rejected what may be the NYT’s final contract offer to save dough. The item that killed me was that of the writer’s guilds 600 + members, 170 had jobs for life as part of their previous contract.
Where in the real world does such a thing exist other than North Korea.

Sorry, I’m just thrilled that I’m no longer a “new fish” on here. I have almost three whole months under my belt …
Stickeehands on June 9, 2009 at 8:46 AM
Thanks. A few months back, I was banned from the RCP board for calling Eugene Robinson a name and haven’t been a regular poster on another board since. It’s good to be on a board with (mostly) kindred spirits.
WordsMatter on June 9, 2009 at 8:46 AM
Yes, but maybe we should require newcomers to submit a 20-page essay on the merits of conservatism and take an oath of loving allegiance to the memory of Reagaan. No troll could stomache that.

long time reader, first time poster. hello!
picklesgap on June 9, 2009 at 8:57 AM
+1
Yep, there goes the neighborhood.
Ya know, my wife sat down to read an HA a thread this weekend because 1) she likes Palin, and 2) she’s from Auburn, NY. By the time we sw the thread, it was into page 6, so the first thought is “Wow, 6 pages of thoughtful commentary, we better get caught up!…” But then, it turns out much of it was a lot of “I know you are but what am I?…” Frankly, it was unreadable & rather embarrassing. Mission accomplished libs.
I really enjoy reading and participating here, but I, and I’m sure many others, don’t have time for that kind of nonsense. So libs, if you wanna participate, please have something thoughtful to contribute, as challenging as that may be.
I just know some Soros agent is recruiting trolls on some college campus somewhere to flood this site with juvenile nonsense, thereby making it unreadable and killing it. Michelle/Ed/Allah, please don’t let that happen.
ornery_independent on June 9, 2009 at 8:57 AM

Drag it (the quote in question) into the dialog box, highlight it and click the quote button. Then type your response…
doriangrey on June 9, 2009 at 9:04 AM
In my experience, HotAir commenters do not call Eugene Robinson inappropriate names, so watch who you’re calling a kindred spirit, please.
BigD on June 9, 2009 at 9:05 AM
First, you hit “quote” button. Then paste the text you want quoted.
Then hit quote button again
That will end the quote.
Then you can respond
