" Obama said, pointing out that he was caught up in dealing with the pressing financial crisis at home."

So why is it that he came home to play a round of Golf? What is the pressing financial crisis?, Golf?

He can't stay and talk to Merkel, can't visit our fallen, gotta get home.

How many tax payers dollars has he lost on the links? We all know that he has squandered billions of tax payer dollars for his political power grab of this Nation.

Are we doomed yet?

A secondary part of the story about HIS Paris visit. the wife and kiddies stayed behind to do some shopping, while HE returned to Washington.
doesn’t that effectively double the tax payer paid expenses?

Maybe Michelle will buy a suit while she is there.

Ed, this one is a bit of a stretch. It would not be unusual to use just this figure of speech to describe walking beside a river. Hammer this guy for his bogus policies, not simple non-gaffes like this.

shazbat:

"But the funny thing is as the article reports, Barry did find the time to take [his] wife out to a nice meal.”

As I recall, didn't the Obamas do a little sightseeing with their girls too? Probably even drove their motorcade down the Seine. Obama probably just wanted to squeeze in the Luxembourg Gardens to show that he, like, knows Paris.

Ed completely missed the real Obamateurism here. The walking on water bit is just silly.

Worse than the "down the Seine" gaffe is the implication that dinner with a head of state is equivalent to a leisure activity ... I want a better justification for skipping such an event than "oh, I don't have the time for another date night."

So what happens in August when official Washington all goes on vacation. The Bush 43 family headed to Crawford with much bleating from the press (because August in a small town outside of Waco isn't a vacation to the WH journalists) The Clintons stayed at whatever Hollywood type was willing to give up a beach house in the Hamptons or a lodge in Montana for their gratis use (and the press loved it because they got to hang out with all the liberals who have infested such places).

So, are we to believe that this guy who snubs the French President as being too busy to share a meal is going to be working in August? I guess the economy will be all fixed by then.

Not when one considers what would have been the reaction if President Bush had made the same type of comment. Affirmative Action President just keeps proving the reverse bigotry of the MSM. I am glad that someone is keeping track of these.

I'm with Ed on this one, and it perfectly fits the man who claimed he would slow the oceans from rising.

He should have said "stroll by the Seine" or "stroll along the Seine". When at the beach, would you say "I'm going to walk down the ocean"? No, you'd say, "I'm going to take a walk along (or on) the beach or "by (or along) the ocean".

All the decades I lived in NYC, I guarantee you I never said I was going to 'stroll down the East River' or 'walk down the Hudson', but I'm sure there were times I said I was going to walk down to the river.

Besides, have you ever known Obama to give up an opportunity to display himself before his adoring masses? An intimate dinner with Sarkozy would never do.

I think you've hit on a truth there. Obama would have found time to attend a lavish state dinner with all the pomp, press, and protocol. But just going to dinner when he can be seen being cool at some bistro with lots of big windows so the paparazzi get clear views of the First Grifters coming and going? No contest.

It became clear from day one that the Obamas like all the trappings of the Presidency even though the filthy liar is utterly unfit for office. Why should that or a bad economy take away from blowing $500K of taxpayer money to take his wife to Broadway.

P.S. I wonder just how much those runs out to burger places are costing us.
