Quote of the day

posted at 9:30 pm on June 7, 2009 by Allahpundit

“The disinvitation from speaking, said a campaign committee official, was done ‘out of respect’ for Gingrich.

‘You dance with the one who brung ya,’ said the official, who stressed that event organizers were still happy to have Palin appear and be introduced…

Palin’s staff had even been sent an agenda with the governor’s speaking slot included.

But then a finance official with the NRSC called Palin aide Meg Stapleton Saturday night to say that Sessions didn’t want Palin to speak.

Recounting the conversation Sunday, Stapleton said she told the NRSC staffer: ‘Why, at a time when we’re trying to build the party, would you pull a move like that on somebody who earlier in the day just attracted 20,000 people?”

“Sound of ripping paper”…..my RNC donation request that I received in the mail. If I had a match I would burn it, but I have always told my kid to not play with matches in the house and he is sitting right next to me right now.

I did save the self-addressed envelope from the RNC and printed off my receipt for SarahPAC and mailed it to the BASTARDS.

How many women on this blog can sense what this all about?

shomegirl on June 7, 2009 at 10:31 PM

You know, you learn from mistakes. Hopefully, next time, they will learn not to do this again and include Sarah Palin. I don’t understand why they wouldn’t include her. Like Meg said, she just drew a crowd of 20,000; why wouldn’t you let her say something. You know she would have introduced Newt brilliantly.

Time to take back the GOP from the state level on up. The national GOP hasn’t received a nickel from me in the last few years and now, never will. My effort and resources will go to develop the Tea Party movement and hammer these RINOs in the primaries.

ddrintn on June 7, 2009 at 10:36 PM

As to why they both can’t speak… Satrah and Newt. No one mentioned Steele’s speech at the Righ to Life event the attention went to the beautiful and heartfelt speech Sarah gave and Steele was the Keynote speaker. No one mentioned Michael Reagan’s speech this past week and again he was the keynote speaker. When Sarah speaks no one else gets any attention and therefore Newt knows that no one will mention his speech only Sarah’s and he’s counting on all the attention being on him.

pjean on June 7, 2009 at 10:24 PM

You are right – but the problem is – they are the ones that pull the strings on the party.

What we need to do is get Sarah out of the GOP – and have her make a run as a “maverick” on a third party ticket called “Conservative Party”. The “Moderate” GOP will hemorrhage votes to her – and that will put an end to the debate about how the GOP needs to “moderate”.

Also – this will discredit the elites in Washington – and get them to go the hell home.

I only donate money to SarahPac – I think that is what we should all do. And when other GOP organizations call me – I tell them “Sorry – I only donate to SarahPac – you want my money – go to her”. I’ve said this to fundraisers at least ten times now.

The RNC, NRSC, and the rest of the elites are still playing us the way they did in the primaries – that if they nominated McCain we Conservatives would hold our nose and vote for him. Nothing changes and this is evidence of it. They openly defecate on Conservatives like Palin and Rubio – and they do it because they believe we’ll vote for them anyway because the alternative is Obama.

Well I’m looking around now and I see a country that has been laid to waste – and the elites in the GOP are at least partly responsible. I have no faith in them … the salvation of this country will not come from the GOP – it’ll come from a grassroots movement independent of the GOP. Let the GOP rot folks – they are worthless fools. I will not vote for another Republican – not even in my Red State. I’ll look for third party options but the GOP here has lost me.

Hold tight, the Republican party’s almost over
Hold tight the nation’s in for even nastier weather
There has got to be some better way
Burning down their own party’s house

Here’s their ticket, they can pack their bags, time to throw them overboard
New transportation from Alaska is coming near
Close enough but not too far, maybe they don’t even know anymore where they are
Fightin fire with fire

All wet
Hey NRCS, you might need a raincoat
Meltdown
Your dreams fading in broad daylight
Three hun-dred six-ty five de-grees
Burning down their own party’s house

It was once upon a time I listened to them
Now they’re gonna come in no place
The Republicans are on their way to Hell, what did they expect
Gonna burst into flame

Republican party
No longer out of the ordinary
That’s right
They don’t want to offend some MSM nobody
Some things sure can knock them dead on their feet
Burning down their own party’s house

I disagree – if Conservatives form an honest third party – it will suck the oxygen away from the GOP.

And in any case – I don’t care anymore. What’s the GOP gonna do for us if they regain power? They had it for the last 8 years and well – you can say that they had to fight a hostile press and a hostile opposition party – but they weren’t smart enough or tough enough to beat them.

The GOP doesn’t fight. And further – when the NRSC started acting like Iranian Imams and telling us who to vote for in REPUBLICAN primaries – well – that’s pretty much it for me.

Hell – I like my Republican Congressman, Steve Scalise – but he’ll not get another vote from me. The best way to start a third party for Conservatives is to REMOVE support for the GOP.

Mine is henceforth removed.

Let the bastards burn.

So they spoke about it obvioulsy then they call back and tell her she can’t speak. I don’t think Sessions would do that, after I’m sure he was involed in asking her to speak, unless Newt found out and ask that the speaking invite be recinded

Newt blows wherever the wind takes him. He backed up Palin because, at the time, Palin was scortching up in the polls. Newt thought that a big train had left the station – and he wanted to be on it – Nay! He wanted to be seen as driving it!

That’s the way Newt is. He’s more “nuanced” than the old King of Jordan – who was a master fence sitter.

One day Newt is sitting on a couch preaching Global Warming with Nancy Pelosi – the next day he’s pronouncing it a scam on the world and calling for Pelosi’s resignation for slurring the CIA.

One day Newt is calling Sonia Sotameyer a racist – because he thinks he sees another train is leaving the station – then the next day – seeing that only he, Rush Limbaugh – and a bunch of Conservatives are actually on that train – he jumps off an apologizes for the remark.

The man is more bi-polar Joan Crawford – I swear to God.

CCRWM on June 7, 2009 at 10:57 PM

Oh well. You can assume whatever you like. I’m generally more convinced by evidence and based on what others have posted recently (I remember the youtube clip, I think) I can only conclude that there isn’t really anything very bad. I can understand that you may not like Newt and I think he’s over the hill. I would just be concerned that he might be tempted to do her damage out of spite and it seems we’re pretty safe there.

gh on June 7, 2009 at 11:13 PM

LOL! You say it as a joke, but it could happen!

PrincipledPilgrim on June 7, 2009 at 10:58 PM

I wasn’t joking! Really I wasn’t. I figure it’s good for at least another 5%.

MB4 on June 7, 2009 at 11:13 PM

I think Newt does whats good for Newt in the long run. I admired the way he stood up and defended Governor Palin during the 2008 election (Especialy the way he stomped on that stooge from MSNBC who got in his face about her). However he is after all a politician and it is to be expected that his actions are primarily driven by his own self interest and political ambitions.
The reality though is that Sarah Palin is the GOP’s biggest draw card at the moment and party insiders like Newt Gingrich and the NRSC would be far better off working with Governor Palin than against her.

Dreadnought223 on June 7, 2009 at 11:13 PM

This is a story from Politico. Think there are any gaps in the story? Any missing, pertinent parts? I haven’t read the comments but I am about to so sorry if this is redundant but the other side has been known to make a mountain out of a molehill, especially if make Republicans look bad.

Vince on June 7, 2009 at 11:14 PM

If Sarah goes rogue from the GOP (which is natural for any conservative)and stays true to, it will be a sure fire way to set the base a blaze.

I know.. wishful thinking. She should intentionally call herself a conservative candidate who happens to be on the Republican ticket.

katy on June 7, 2009 at 11:16 PM

But the Palinites will continue to froth and the Palin-haters will smile and the world will keep on spinning as the party flushes itself down the toilet.

Squid Shark on June 7, 2009 at 11:12 PM

Regardless of Palin, the party is flushing itself down the toilet in idiotic efforts to gain the “great middle” and trying to get the media to love them.

ddrintn on June 7, 2009 at 11:16 PM

I think that Sarah should take the NRSC head on, and stump for Rubio (if he’s willing) in the Fl. primary against their boy Crist.

John_R on June 7, 2009 at 10:49 PM

+1000
Totally agree. She is not the establishment candidate. She should support the conservative outsider.

jencab on June 7, 2009 at 11:16 PM

To win requires total dedication and a total break with the doctrine that man is a sacrificial animal who exists for the use of others. Fight for the value of the person. Fight for the virtue of their pride. Fight for the essence, which is man, for his sovereign rational mind. Fight with the radiant certainty and the absolute rectitude of knowing that yours is the morality of life and yours is the battle for any achievement, any value, any grandeur, any goodness, any joy that has ever existed on this earth.
- John Galt (Ayn Rand)

Well, go ahead and adopt Ayn Rand ideology.

I find her completely naive and pedantic.

So you’ve already veered off my polical path.

The founding fathers knew that the rabble could not be trusted with the levers of government directly. That is why our republican system was set up in the first place. Obama is showing up what happens when the liberal rabble get a hold of the levers, I am not excited to see what happens when “our” rabble gets it anymore than his.

All this talk about the “elites” is leading in that direction. And Sarah is definately the rabbles gal right now. But the rabble is also fickle, I was amazed about how fast Eric Cantor went into RINO land a few months ago.

That’s absolutely correct and the reason I’m not voting Republican again is because you, I, and every other blithering slob on this blog realize it – but they don’t.

If they can’t realize something as simple as this – they aren’t up to leading this country.

They need to stay in the wilderness some more.

If Palin wants to keep her squeaky clean ethics credentials, she would not touch old Marco with a 10 foot pole.

Rubio is just as much of a whore as Crist, he is just taking someone elses money for the quicky out back.

Rubio sees an oportunity to try and play the RINO v. the “True” Conservative. It is a false choice, Rubio was nearly criminally negligent when he was speaker in failing to address Florida’s budget, directing deep cuts in education, public safety and emergency preparedness, all while bringing home the bacon to FIU and then taking 69K a year part time job there.

He is a pork addicted whore to the notoriously corrupt development community in Florida, all his pretty words and “firebrand” rhetoric wont change that.

SCREW THE GOP. Not ONE MORE DIME TO THEM.

SarahPac is going to get $100 more from me for this atrocity.

That’s $100 the GOP will not get.

CCRWM on June 7, 2009 at 11:32 PM

There is no Republican Party without Palin and her ilk.

The sooner the party realizes it and dumps the entire Rino Nominating Committee (RNC), the sooner we can start rebuilding the party.

The country doesn’t need “Democrat Lite” RINO’s. All they do is prop up the real Democrats by offering NOTHING worth voting for and crowding out the real Republicans.

I voted GOP once in my lifetime.

What I observe, too many people in this group are dedicated to non-compromise, making sure they “stick” to their own principles, and just not really all that politically-minded or group-minded, if you will.

It’s pretty much libertarian, in short.

That’s the loser’s game.

It may be great from a personal standpoint, but it has zip to do with politics.

And, since you live in a democracy?

That means…….no power, no real influence, and no real impact.

AnninCA on June 7, 2009 at 11:00 PM

Agree. Which is why Republicans have had no power, influence, or impact in my lifetime. Who is this “Reagan” that even Democrats keep paying homage to?

And I also agree that sticking to your principles is icky. Better just to go along with the groupthink, as you say.

Conservative ideas have driven politics for at least 30 years.

I think Jeb is torn on this one, Rubio is from his part of the state (S. FL) and is one of his protogees. He also looks a hell of alot like his son George P.

Crist is his sucessor, endorsed by him. Jeb may not like some of his power plays, but he has built alot on the foundation that Jeb set. Both Jeb and Charlie are VERY popular in FL. Rubio, less so.
