Video: Palin takes on the Beltway in upstate New York

Red, red meat on an exceedingly slow news day from today’s Seward celebrations in Auburn. This was shot at a fundraiser at Seward House; earlier, 20,000 people turned out to see her lead the parade through the city. Quote:
Palin, who emerged as a leading voice in the Republican Party after Arizona Sen. John McCain picked her as his running mate in the contest against Obama, is thought to be considering a run for president in 2012. Auburn residents welcomed her to the podium at City Hall with a chant of “Run, Sarah, run!”…
Palin rode the mile-long parade route in a red convertible, getting out to walk about 100 yards while carrying small U.S. and Alaska state flags in each hand. Spectators yelled out “Welcome, Sarah” and “Thanks for coming” as Palin waved back.
Local resident Chris Stone, with his wife and three children, said he didn’t care for Palin’s politics but didn’t want to miss the chance to see her in person.
“You can see by the turnout, she’s become a personality and a historical figure,” said Stone, who voted for Obama. “I know all these people aren’t Republicans. This is a chance to see someone who has had a big impact on history.”
Dude, I think she’s running. Click the image to watch.

So, what are you worried about then? Why are you here?
Nice to see that devotion to the democratic process. Totalitarian cretin.

Athensboy let me introduce you to Ddrintn, Ddrintn meet Athensboy. You both slobber over Obama and Palin, don’t read anything more in-depth than a talking point and tend to breathe deeply when you see a sound bite of your object of affection.
Perhaps you should get to know each other….

People w/ high IQ’s usually don’t need ad hominem’s to make their point.
Okay…we get it: you don’t want to look like a fanaitc. In 2012, you’ll vote for the name w/ (R) next to it. We get it.
bluelightbrigade on June 7, 2009 at 4:48 PM
I disagree with her stated position on cap-and-trade. I think she needs more polishing and media savvy to compete in 2012. I don’t think she should be handed the nomination, but should go through the primaries like the rest.
Good enough, smart guy?
ddrintn on June 7, 2009 at 4:48 PM
Holy Crap! My wife grew up on South Street a few blocks from there! …and her mother, a big Bush-hating Democrat, STILL lives a few blocks away…I bet she was PISSED about all the traffic today LOL! Hell, the sleepy town only has about 30-35,000 residents, and a maximum security prison downtown. 20,000 people is a HUGE turnout there!
I gotta get a cuppa tea and get caught up on the comments on this one…

Come on, smart guy. There’s a search function here. Point out where I’ve ever “slobbered” over Palin. Come on. Or else crawl back into your snark hole and stroke your own supposed superiority.

I know the idea of party loyalty and respect for the process is an antiquated idea for all the hip and beautiful people as well as the idea of someone earning their way to a nomination….

You know that suggesting someone to engage in such a search so time-consuming it’s absurd – even if the could prove you wrong.
And it’s a purposeful distraction away from yourself.
How about YOU do it? Or are you just content to be a bully all of your life?

Is she running or is she doing what other Repub politicians aren’t doing which is sounding the alarn that what Obama and Co are doing is destroying this country? She did say “If I die politically , I die” meaning she knows that someone had to do it and it that it will cause the Hatefille Left and the State Run Media to attak her more and attempt to destroy her…sounds not so much as ambitious but as it sounds selfless…
CCRWM on June 7, 2009 at 4:59 PM

bluelightbrigade on June 7, 2009 at 5:04 PM
I don’t think thats at all accurate.
The reason Palin has the following that she has is because of her accomplishments and her steadfast principles. The people who admire that are also very consistent and level headed with a respect for this country and values that make it great.
The cult of Obama..a man who has accomplished nothing before conning the weak of mind ..along with the help of “community organizers” and a absurdly bias press and media, into a single digits edge to win the Presidency, has a following of leg tinglers and “He’s God” proclaimers, that run the gamit from left wing ideologs who border on the bitter retarded, to animal rights zealots to “All we need is Love and Windwills” environmental wingnuts, to conspiracy theorists that are fearful of everything from GM food to vaccinations to “global warming is killing everything” to anti white racists to 911 was an inside job droolers, to aging hippies who, for some reason, just are afraid of growing up, to money grubbing self centered opportunists, to “whatever you do, don’t stop me from killing my baby” abortion lovers, to sex perverts, to corporate empire builders, to the naive, gullible and the tragically hip wannabes, to pathetic anti war “All Islamofascists need is a little understanding” bigots ..all of whom are hypocrites when judged against their own stated values.
….you know……the dregs of society who can see themselves in their chosen leaders.

When I first read this I had assumed this was in Alaska given the HUGE turnout. But 20,000 in a small town in NY State?
Frickin’ unbelievable.
Palin still got it.
Norwegian on June 7, 2009 at 5:13 PM
Back in 1867 the press called it “Seward Folly” saying Alaska is a wasteland.
Don’t worry, Governor Palin, the skeptics and the bias press are a bunch of pompous windbags. William H. Seward proved them wrong and you can do the same. You winning the presidency would be the biggest upset in Elitists’ history… can’t wait for it to happen. I’ll take honesty over “intellectual” any time, any day.

So, who thinks Palin speaking on M.E. peace would result in this being said?

The American Jews wanted him and from reading Israeli blogs, the Israeli left is very much happy with “impose,” they think it’s time for someone to impose on them, because so far they were let loose.

Palin is doing right for Alaska which is protecting America. I’m pleased with her networking and I support her work. She is a wonderful Conservative leader. And right now we need to support EVERY conservative leader in America. No one else leads Alaska like Palin does. And without Alaska, we’re mortally wounded.
maverick muse on June 7, 2009 at 6:45 PM
So the issues to debate with Sarah around her when given a political speech is 1) her looks, 2) she should get more politically savvy without so much as a any discussion on the substance of her speech. It figures.
No freaking wonder we have Czars galore, government take over of 2 of the 3 BIGS, and debt as far as the eyes can see without so much as only one milly-mouse teaparty on April 15th. What’s good for the country comes down to a Survivor or American Idol episode. Quite frankly it’s scary and I feel quite sorry for my highly talented kids who will probably have to pay back the debt at the end of shovel whether they like it or not.
I listen to some of the points made and my head spins with potential. If that woman was ever able to get into the WH with a GOP majority and she started pulling back regulations in Alaska in her first 4 months similar to the way Obama is going on his tear, the contrast of political philosophies would be so stark there would never be any doubt. You can have the MSM say all it wants and paint their unicorn rosy pictures but you and I know what’s happening on the ground. You see it when your strip malls are bear and your neighbors have left and there’s no one else moving in next door. Where the landscape is no dirt and the windows have no coverings. You have a stark contrast no matter what the media says.
There is no debater on the impact energy independence would have on our economy and how it would fundamentally change not only the dynamics in the Middle East but with China and Russia, and Venezuela as well.
After everything Obama has done and is and well attempt to do if Sarah ever got a chance to muscle her way through like that, we’d forever be in her debt. It’d probably be a big way to get out the Obama debt to begin with.
Those that think she needs to be politically more savvy yet care little to discuss the substance of her speech and where EXACTLY she needs to hone her style? You aren’t interested in serious politics or substance. You are the type who say they’re conservative like a Ron Paul lover thinks he’s conservative. It’s a joke. It’s these very people who pulled a part every last one of our potential candidates who were willing to stand up and fight. Then they’re the ones, on the other hand, that tell the limp wristed types that they have to walk and talk like Democrats to get elected and have to support Specter, Ridge, Snowe, et el because will otherwise be doomed. For frack foocking sake, YOU ARE the reason we’re doomed!
And having said all that, I don’t much care if she looks like Margaret Thatcher, treats you like the little stupid Argentinians that you are, goes Falklands on your a$$, and hands it back to you on a silver platter after she’s dressed it for good measure or she looks like Miss California and tells you that she believes that the best marriages are ALWAYS

I’d vote for that ticket in a heartbeat. FDT could add gravitas to the ticket, similar to Cheney’s role in 2000 with a relatively unknown W. He will be 70 in 2012, though.
More likely scenario is, if Palin gets the nod, having one of the close runnerups on the ticket (my guess would be Romney). I’d also sleep soundly after voting for this ticket over Obama (and probably HRC for vp).
At least, that’s my guess 3+ years from the polls.
cs89 on June 7, 2009 at 7:23 PM
I would never wish for an enemy attack on the United States.
But how would the old-school media portray a missile launch from North Korea against the west coast which was intercepted by rockets from Alaska? A further example of how the principle of deterrence, as backed by Palin, encourages aggression?! I’d love to see that spin!! (Not the launch)
Ladies and gentlemen, I think we’re due for a rematch. In this corner, former cheerleader Katie Couric! In this corner, former beauty queen Sarah Palin!
I only hope former game show host Mike Wallace is still around to see it.

Sultry… you make a good point. I’ve been doing a ton of laundry, watching a Dicovery channel show on Yellowstone and jumping on this and C4P every once in a while and what happened here and usually does here on HA is that somehow the trolls find out there is a Palin post… they rush over start insulting her and totally derail the comments so that we get distracted from talking about her speech and her warning that:
The American way is being destroyed.
That energy independence would help the economy and benefit not only AK but the lower 48.
That now is not the time to be reducing our missile defence with North Korea and Iran racing towards nukes and missles.
That our children and grandchildren, those we don’t abort, will be saddled with paying back a debt that will rob them of independence and personal prosperity and relagate the USA to 3rd world status
That the Fereral gov’t is eroding State’s rights
That life is precious and the measure of a society’s decency is how it treats it’s most vulnerable and that becoming desensitized to the plight of the unborn could easily lead to euthansia and other such issues
The second amendment is under attack
It wrong for the Federal government to take over banks and auto companies
No we start fighting with trolls and then the message she is trying to get out gets lost and the trolls win…again…

What do you disagree with Palin on when it comes to cap and trade? In a recent local radio interview she was asked about cap & trade and said it will cause major problems but she is a realist and knows those in DC are pushing for it. She wants Alaskans to be prepared. Do you disagree with that? Or do you support cap and trade?

Good for her. She made a smart move to pull back, but it is time to start practicing. Campaigning is an art. It needs honing.
Her only problem in the election was just that. She wasn’t honed on the national level. She gets now to call the shots, practice where it’s good for her, learn what does and doesn’t work.

Ever notice the cockroaches scrambling around to bash on Palin any time there is a thread about her here on HA? It’s starting to smell like F-E-A-R…. If she was as insignificant as they claim, then why drive the thread count up? I am getting to kinda like watching this… Palin certainly isn’t perfect, and needs a lot of work before she is ready…but my hyperactive pomeranian would be a better choice than what is currently in office…
TASS71 on June 7, 2009 at 11:10 PM
Palin is a great campaigner, but I have no real sense of her perspective.
We’ll learn what this is opinion by opinion.
But I think, personally, she cannot both her fundamentalist base AND the urge for change.
That is too big of a split.
Her base is a minority group. They are not going to ever convince today’s voters that they have a legitimate argument.
Abortion? Please.
Guns? Oh double please.
Anyway, right now she’s the new Huckabee.
But I still think she’s got the right to throw that hat into the ring.
AnninCA on June 7, 2009 at 11:23 PM
AnninCA on June 7, 2009 at 11:23 PM
You are aware that abortion and guns were a big part of the Reagan coalition, right? And, after a few years of Obama, moving in a conservative will be quite a change.
Oh, and Huckabee has very little in common with Palin, no matter what AP thinks. Hmm, haven’t seen any posts about him in a while. Why is that?
cs89 on June 7, 2009 at 11:41 PM
Upstate NY is essentially a ghost town and anyone who can draw 20,000 has enormous political potential. One another note AnninCA still insists on violating etiquette
by

AnnicCA has no real sense of perspective on anything. If Palin’s base was a minority group it wouldn’t be called a THE BASE, it would be called THE FRINGE. On a Gaussian distribution how can THE BASE be a minority?

Conservative Women are marvelous examples of character content in action. Their brains, hearts and DETERMINATION to carry out good works despite all opposition are above reproach.
Palin deserves America’s respect.
Those who deliver disdain instead do so from the content of their own malicious hearts and minds.
There is no one person who is perfect, no candidate who is everything to all people.
What grassroots American citizens KNOW now better than ever is that Palin’s political platform “drill here, drill now” would absolutely improve our economy with permanent jobs and commerce to provide America’s infrastructure and national security.
The more “eloquent” a POTUS presumes to be, the more deceit his aura accumulates.
I don’t think anyone should put limitations on what Palin is allowed to do for America now or tomorrow. On the contrary, support her efforts because from Palin’s position of authority in Alaska, she is fighting the GOOD FIGHT to preserve our national security, our economy and our strength of character. To snipe at Palin is to snipe at the good American. Palin is campaigning for America. Her opposition, the globalist Goliath who monopolizes lies to power has his own vulnerability, the likes of Palin who isn’t afraid to use truth to power.
Palin isn’t exactly running for POTUS; she’s campaigning for America. What good is it to build a structure for the future below a corrupt dam that’s crumbling. Whatever role Palin chooses to function within, I support her because she has the good sense ON HER OWN to make better decisions than Newt (brilliantly corrupt opportunist), McCain, etc.
maverick muse on June 8, 2009 at 7:44 AM
Nice. Mark Levin could do three hours on that.

Palin is hardcore conservative and she also makes the left come unhinged. I remember when people said Reagan was unelectable. She may not be smart as others but her character is intact. After four years of this liar/theif integrity will be the key issue

Another great speech from the ‘Cuda. She especially hit her stride near the end. She will only get better and better at this. Palin/Anybody 2012: I am there!
This is a great way to put it. She does remind one of David and the SRM’s strategy of attacking her relentlessly may just end up working in our favor. America likes an underdog, and at this point, Sarah is certainly that in the way she’s portrayed in the media. Yet six months after the election, the woman that even some GOPers have declared a flash in the pan is drawing 20,000 in a tiny little town in New York. Yeah, she’s nothing to worry about. ;o)
Mark my words: Sarah Palin WILL be the first woman President of the United States.

Palin is the most amazing politician to come along in a generation. There is no one more real, more capable of showing a common touch than she. I should receive my “Palin 2012″ bumper sticker in the mail in the next few days. As for actually running in 2012, if she decides to do so, I hope she works at avoiding some of the pitfalls she encountered last year, i.e., Couric and Fey.
