Video: NBC’s ass-kissing of Obama too much even for Jon Stewart

This is kind of like Hannity goofing on someone for going easy on George W. Bush. The final line’s the keeper, though, so don’t quit on it before then. Maybe I’m just dizzy at the thought that media bias towards The One is now emanating such a stench that even the Daily Show can’t help choking on it, but is the backlash to Hopenchange finally afoot? For the first time, Rasmussen finds as many people strongly disapproving of his performance as strongly approving. (Thanks, GM!) The split on whether he’s an excellent/good leader or just a fair/poor one is also at its lowest level yet at 51/49. And now Stewart’s slapping people around for pitching softballs. What’s next? A mildly critical segment about The One on MSNBC?

I haven’t read this yet but I just heard on the news the The Colbert Report is being taped in Iraq to be aired later. He is there as part of the USO. I don’t care how much an entertainer annoys me, if they go see the troops I give them a pass for life.

Cindy Munford on June 5, 2009 at 5:38 PM

The last line was Excellent.

therightscoop on June 5, 2009 at 5:41 PM

Iowahawk should be given a job on CC to mock Obama and the Media, he would get high ratings.

Did Stewart really not mock the Bowing part?

jp on June 5, 2009 at 5:41 PM

Cindy
Colbert is there for Colbert. Not the troops.

RobCon on June 5, 2009 at 5:41 PM

He can’t afford to do these very often…his leftard audience just can’t get into it. Laughs were weak through the entire thing.

What’s next? A mildly critical segment about The One on MSNBC?

Done already. Rachel Maddow pointed out Obama’s unconstitutional plan to detain without cause.

I thought the segment before this was more post-worthy.

Stewart goofing on Butt-kissing Brian Williams for this is essentially the same as Putzi Hanfstengel goofing on Goebbels

All that goofy mugging by Stewart is just hard to take.

Great leaders go about their business with quiet determination. Less great leaders rely on having the public made aware daily that they are leaders.

Anyone else concerned that the Treasury Secretary cannot get in to see Obama?

I mean, Geithner sucks and all, but we are in the midst of an economic clusterfark and he is in charge of the economy.

myrenovations on June 5, 2009 at 5:53 PM

That is unbelievably harsh for the OKissArse Jon Stewart but then it wasn’t about O it was about Williams.

Question: When O makes fast food illegal, will O still eat cheeseburgers? I mean they are cholesterol bombs and cows apparently give off a lot of CO2 and thus are killing the planet (heh!) so why is PutzOTUS still eating them? Where is the green movement now and why hasn’t Jon Stewart riffed on that? Hmmmm? (I’ll bet you thought I couldn’t turn this back around to Jon Stewart!) I mean he’s capable of a lot of harsh sarcasm, why isn’t it go time?

RobCon: good point about Colbert being in Iraq for himself and not the troops. Where’s Gary Sinise when the troops need him.

Cindy,

I used to watch Colbert and thought he was pretty funny. However, I’ve learned that he’s a left wing and functions as Jon Stewart’s left arm. He will find a way to denigrate and humiliate our troops once the final edits are done and displayed on his “show”.

Let’s hope that Steven Colbert doesn’t ruin his career while trying to ruin the credibility of the USA for the benefit of Mister BHO.

Best regards,

myrenovations on June 5, 2009 at 5:53 PM

That was my first thought as well. With the current economic crisis, it seems like the Treasury Secretary ought to get precedence over everybody but the Secretary of Oh-My-God-There-Are-Nukes-Headed-Straight-For-Us (or is that a Czar?). Geithner ought to be able to walk in on Obama when he’s sitting on the toilet if he has something important to say.

aero on June 5, 2009 at 6:03 PM

The last line…TIWYF!

ronsfi on June 5, 2009 at 6:04 PM

I liked the line from the guy on Hannity last night (can’t remember his name, but it’s Imus’s sidekick). He said that the Cairo speech was only interrupted one time when somebody yelled out, “I love you” and, it turns out, it was Brian Williams of NBC. I actually laughed at that line.

Hannity just complains about biased coverage while providing his own biased coverage.

jonknee on June 5, 2009 at 5:57 PM

Nice try, but no cigar.

Hannity, whose show is opinion, not “objective jorunalism”, is complaining about those who claim to be “objective journalists” providing biased coverage. And you can’t prove his complaints to be wrong. There’s too much verified evidence for that to be in any doubt.

This afternoon I have been watching “journalist” Wolfie Blitzer kiss O’bama’s skinny ass for over 2 hours now. He’s as much of a joke as MS-DNC is.

Obama does have a daily economic briefing (performed by top level staff much like the President’s Daily Brief) which Geithner is surely frequently involved in.

If you enjoyed that bit, you will also enjoy the part (not in this clip but from the special) where Obama walks into a room full of advisors to take burger orders, and Timmy gives him the dirtiest look evah (I assume they still had not met with him at that point)

Joe Caps on June 5, 2009 at 6:23 PM

This is off topic by Michelle Malkin on the double standard between Tiller’s widely discussed murder and the Long Akansas soldier murder by a jihadi (which got far less attention), but what is shocking is Andrew Sullivan agrees with Malkin and admits he might have missed the later issue.

Normally I would agree – until someone like Kathy Griffin went there, then uses it to validate her lame attacks on Bush, Republicans and any one that dare questions her “patriotism” with her schtick by saying “I went there – wtf have you done” to any audience member who boo’s.

But you are a wise woman who clearly is a good thinker.

Odie1941 on June 5, 2009 at 6:40 PM

He’s not like he’s goofing on Obama, that would be worthwhile.

This wasn’t funny, either. Clearly his audience didn’t know what to make of it.

blue13326 on June 5, 2009 at 6:42 PM

Clearly you don’t understand the difference between a journalist (I know, the lines are getting fuzzier) and a commentator. Hannity is biased, but he’s not a journalist and never pretends to be one. His show is an opinion show- HIS OPINION. NBC News is supposed to deliver…wait for it…wait for it…THE NEWS. See the difference?

Odie1941 on June 5, 2009 at 6:40 PM

Well, it’s worse than that. I saw him in an interview and he said something to the effect of not wanting his young daughter to watch his show because he “lies for a living”. I am hoping that he is doing this because it is an opportunity to bring smiles and home to our folks and will keep that hope until he proves me wrong. I agree with you about Ms. Griffin. He makes fun the media….so long as it’s Fox, or portraying something against a conservative (in which, he just chimes in, rather than mocking said media service).

This guy ceased being funny back on his MTV days. Although, I admit, I get a sick sense of joy watching him fumble and stutter whenever he speaks without some prep or without a writer. What a complete and utter tool.
