Tomorrow is D-Day

Visit Omaha Beach some day, just to see the height and steep slope those men had to climb up–under fire.

We ask too much of these people……

I was a little boy but I still remember when Vietnam vets/pow’s were coming home and their children running for them on the Tarmac. It made me cry then because I knew what was going on.

GoodBoy on June 5, 2009 at 8:08 PM

We did this to my son when my husband came home from Kuwait years ago, We haven’t had the chance to surprise the kids like that again because they have been off school.

Every time I see these homecomings it reminds me of the feeling you get seeing them when they come off the plan or you see them for the first time. It’s hard to describe but it’s the best feeling in the world.

Air Force Master Sgt. Joseph Myers, speaking of military families:

Every one of us in uniform and out of uniform think about you every day. And we know the sacrifices that you’ve had to take on. And I’m sorry.

How many handkerchiefs, Allahpundit? I’m working on my second.

Loxodonta on June 5, 2009 at 8:11 PM

More background San Antonio News:
Air Force sergeant returns early, surprises daughter

The Air Force informed Myers of his early return a few weeks ago, and when his wife told a coworker, the idea of a surprise was born. To make it happen, Tami Myers worked with the public affairs department at Randolph AFB and with the school, which serves the children of military parents, many of whom are deployed in combat zones and elsewhere overseas.

“We are privileged and blessed to serve this military community, and homecomings are the best part of military life,” said Principal Karen Bessette of Randolph Elementary.

Loxodonta on June 5, 2009 at 8:18 PM

Translation of the video by CNN:

See how much better life is under Obama? Under that fascist Bush, children didn’t see their fathers, E-v-e-r. But Uncle Barry has changed that. Now fathers and daughters are reunited. YES WE CAN. YES WE CAN. YES WE SIEG, ER YES WE CAN!!

Come on guys, can’t you see this propaganda for what it is?

angryed on June 5, 2009 at 8:19 PM

So amazing. *wipes eyes*

OT, but what’s that thing at the bottom of the YT screen that says “CNN”?…What is this “CNN”?

bluelightbrigade on June 5, 2009 at 8:20 PM

Beautiful! Thank you to this beautiful family and all the others sacrificing to keep us safe. I understand the constant tension they endure when they’re separated from each other. It’s why we all cry when we see them reunited!

zeebeach on June 5, 2009 at 8:26 PM

Had to watch it again………….

Note to self:

“Stop cutting onions while watching touching video of family reunited with father.”

Seven Percent Solution on June 5, 2009 at 8:27 PM

A good man. After all of his sacrafice he’s more concerned with the sacrafice of others. God bless him.

iceman1960 on June 5, 2009 at 8:29 PM

This is the kind of story I like to see. It’s great when a soldier and his family are reunited. A lot of spouses and kids are missing those men and women in uniform right now, as well as their “civilian” counterparts. Believe in God or not, it can’t hurt to say a little prayer for more of these kids of reunions.

Stickeehands on June 5, 2009 at 8:33 PM

Janos Hunyadi on June 5, 2009 at 7:16 PM

Just don’t do it tomorrow. There was a letter in todays Washington Post complaining that the only vets who get to visit the site tommorrow are those invited by the filthy liar’s team. All others can go to hell as far as our evil president is concerned.

highhopes on June 5, 2009 at 8:36 PM

Awesome. Thanks, Allah.

And a huge thank-you to everyone who wears the uniform. We owe you everything.

Splashman on June 5, 2009 at 8:36 PM

This is the kind of story I like to see.

Stickeehands on June 5, 2009 at 8:33 PM

That’s actually not the story. The real story here is that the Bush-hating/Obama propagandist CNN network didn’t skew the reunion story by suggesting that the daughter’s peace sign ear rings were a silent protest against the war her daddy was fighting. This is indeed a first for this corrupt and biased band of propagandists.

I’m on my way there, by way of Lille. ( Yes, hotels in Belgium and France have Wi-fi ).

Omaha beach runs for over a mile. Obama may shut down the memorial monument itself and the cemetery close by, but it will be difficult to close off both ends of the beach.

It’s a very wide beach; ask the men who slogged across it.

In ‘Saving Private Ryan’ they found a beach and bluffs in Ireland which looks like Omaha, but it was a lot narrower.

Janos Hunyadi on June 5, 2009 at 8:49 PM

big sigh

God Bless our Heroes… including that 4th grader.

And yes, as for Omaha Beach — to see it is to be totally in awe. I spent a day there nine years ago and I’ll never forget it.

Janos Hunyadi on June 5, 2009 at 8:49 PM

With all due respect that’s not the point. Why should the monument be off limits to any WWII Vet tomorrow? Are they really all that much of a threat to the filthy liar in the White House??? He heads out to burger joints all the time but can’t be bothered with uninvited Americans tommorrow? That’s complete BS.

Bottom line the filthy liar is making this into a photo-op instead of honoring the sacrifice of all those military people. He is a monster.

P.S. As I was in Reagan National this week, a plane with 50 WWII Vets were arriving and American Airlines made it a point to encourage everybody in the terminal to congregate to welcome them. Though this particular airline subsequently lost my luggage on my trip, I give them credit for making the arrival of this plane a big deal.

About 18 months ago I was on a flight where about 30 to 40 military men and women were as well. The pilot announced that they were returning home from Afghanistan and this was the final leg of their trip home. Everyone on the plane stood up and applauded for about 2 minutes straight.

Still boggles my mind how the same people voted for that piece of human filth occupying 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Quite the paradox, No?

It gives me heart to hear stories like yours where returning troops are acknowledged. It proves that the values of America are still out there even if the filthy liar in the White House despises those same values in favor of traveling all over the planet apologizing to the world that the US exists.

Oh! I think you are spot on accurate!

Years ago, I was in the New Orleans Superdome on the eve of a Backstreet Boys concert. I looked around at the enclosed venue and contemplated the vast majority of the seats being occupied by 13-year-old screaming girls and pitied any parent that was forced to go along.

Laying in a foxhole, sitting in a Comanche, or riding along 1000 ft under the sea, you’ve got to tip your hat to these sons and daughters of liberty. They go because you need them, not because you ask. They go so you don’t have to. God bless all of them. Cook, sailor, mechanic, rifleman, pilot or snake eater, all helping you even if you don’t give a gawd damn.

BTW are we still in Iraq? I’d never know it by watching the MSM news. When’s the last time anyone read a story about a car bomb in Iraq? Or did they just stop cold at 12:01pm 1/20/09?

Expect to see a lot of this crap on CNN in the coming months. Dads coming home. Dads going to graduations. Moms seeing their kid’s 1st soccer game. And amazingly enough all these “events” will happen in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida and other swing states.

Allah, I’m surprised you of all people would fall for CNN’s transparent motives.

CNN’s rating are way down remember how they treated Tea Party Protesters? American Military Veterans were at those Tea Party Protest too but how did CNN treat them? Tea bagging jokes, and oh yes a dumb woman, who was supposed to be reporting the news objectively but instead brow beating a man holding his baby. Yeah CNN spits on you, then uses human interest video of returning American Military Soldier to try and get you to watch their crappy channel again. Nothing to SEE here folks, they don’t care about Average Americans, they are not above USING Average Americans…..they have proven that.

Zorro on June 6, 2009 at 10:17 AM

Anderson Cooper of tea bagging joke fame’s ratings down hmmm 50% you don’t say, what could have caused that?
My husband and I both attended a TEA PARTY Protest, he is a 27 year Army Veteran….so I love the Video but I see it as CNN trying to recapture people they have basically crapped on. Regular Americans were labeled as Racist and Extremist and right wingers ect….for Protesting what people will finally pay attention to- When Unemployment reaches 10% and hyper inflation hits the U.S. like it already has in Great Britain….but you won’t have CNN to thank for warning you. They are busy astroturfing for Obama and the Democrat Party.
