Video: MSNBC very angry at having its Limbaugh obsession pointed out

posted at 6:55 pm on June 4, 2009 by Allahpundit

Via Greg Hengler. If, like E.J. Dionne, you’re dumb enough to believe that the media hypes Rush’s controversies because it’s secretly right-wing rather than overtly left-wing and intent on framing Obama as centrist and “reasonable” by comparison, then you’re probably also dumb enough to believe he’s in constant rotation on MSNBC because the brain trust there finds him genuinely relevant and interesting. This is, of course, part of the Rahm/Carville/Begala strategy of tarring the GOP with every distortable soundbite to exit Limbaugh’s lips; no surprise that a network known for bowing to Obama — literally — would be willing to lend a hand. Today’s soundbite du jour comes from last night’s Hannity:

No, I don’t back away from anything I’ve said about President Obama and his policies and his plans. I don’t know him personally. I don’t wish him ill as a human being. But he’s my president. He’s all of our president. His ideas and his policies matter.

I can’t remember who said this, but you know this is something that I’ve thought long and hard about repeating in this interview with you: If Al Qaeda wants to demolish the America we know and love, they’d better hurry because Obama’s beating them to it.

Why he insists on gratuitously provocative comparisons like that knowing how the left will use them to make Republicans squirm is beyond me, but it sure does keep his name in the news. Exit question: Are Rush and MSNBC co-dependent?

Update: John Ziegler keeps it short and to the point.

It doesn’t make me squirm. Rush agrees with me. I’m grateful for someone saying the truth as I also see it. If others feel it’s right to couch their feelings in other terms, let them do it, but I don’t see why we all have to.

Rush actually looked pretty normal in that interview. Someone should tell him to lay off the pink and yellow golf shirts for his show. They don’t exactly scream “Alpha Male”.

Speedwagon82 on June 4, 2009 at 6:59 PM

What if Rush is right? Some “Republicans” may squirm but I thought it was the cool thing to “speak truth to power”. I sure didn’t see any “democrats” squirming when they took their talking points from Kos and The Nation magazine. And guess what…they won.

After experiencing the past 5 months and listening to that speech today, Rush is right.

Our Constitution is being shredded. We have something like 14 czars appointed by this President! The government has been allowed to function like the Sopranos when it comes to private businesses. Fascism is not marching, it is racing at light speed to take over this nation. Obama has done more to destroy this country in 5 months than UBL has in the past eight years.

Sorry, no squirming here. Rush is doing a fine job saying what many of us feel instead of trying to be all squishy and nice about it like so many other “Republicans.” The dems are walking all over us because they don’t play nice. They play dirty. Instead people on the right including many on this blog, want to take this “high road.” The left is laughing at us. Frankly the only people on right with balls are folks like Limbaugh, Hannity, Ingrahm and Michelle Malkin.

They all know it. They all know that The Precedent is driving this nation into the ground and they are happy about it. That is the combination of the white-guilters, who want to be put out of their misery (and take the rest of us with them), with the black and hispanic militants, who want to take their rage out on the whites and our nation. The left knows that they are working to kill this nation. They just don’t like anyone to actually talk about it, just like the envrio-wackos who argue about trees and birds .. until you press them and they blurt out how Man is a blight on the Earth.

Everyone knows that The Precedent is destroying this nation. Well, except for Allah.

Rush is preaching to the choir: He’s not trying to ‘activate’ or convert undecided voters; his role is to reinforce existing beliefs and passions. Different strokes…

He’s not running for office or soliciting votes. You need to wrap your pagan mind around that, Andrew / Allah

Janos Hunyadi on June 4, 2009 at 7:11 PM

Two points:
(1) MSNBC and Shuster in particular are jealous of El Rushbo.
(2) The conservative on the show should have simply answered the question (comparing Obama to AlQuada): “You tell me what happens in 10+ years when our national debt, coupled with the ‘social’ programs obligations our government has and the boomers being in retirement grinds the economy to dust? These are some of the same things Obama rightly criticized Bush for and now he’s doing them except he’s accelerating it exponentially.”

You answered you own question. If it wasn’t for talk radio in the role of flame throwers for the Right, we would be clueless as to what goes own. The GOP is over populated with Beta males, no offense AP. You could hand them a Dem scandal on or a huge policy lapse on a silver plater and they wouldn’t do anything with it. I’m always reminded of a passage in Orwell’s 1984:

The heretic, the enemy of society, will always be there, so that he can be defeated and humiliated over again. Everything that you have undergone since you have been in our hands — all that will continue, and worse. The espionage, the betrayals, the arrests, the tortures, the executions, the disappearnaces will never cease. It will be a world of terror as much as a world of triumph. The more the Party is powerful, the less it will be tolerant; the weaker the opposition, the tighter the despotism. Goldstein and his heresies will live forever. Every day, at every moment, they will be defeated, discredited, ridiculed, spat upon — and yet they will always survive.

I love old Socialist Orwell. He was a friggin’ prophet.

They’re speaking “truth to power” and the gov. isn’t liking it so much, if you read MSNPRAVDABC correctly. Those of you so inclined, you might want to say a prayer of safety for these people. I’m thinking back to the Tianenmen Square entry now. If the government decides to really push it that far, they will be the first ones to see the business end of a cannon muzzles.

As for MSNBC, clearly their viewers (whoever that may be) eat this stuff up. They want to go after Palin, Rush, and any other person right of Hillary Clinton. They have a beastly appetite. It would be nice to see the Rush’s out their start having a very frank honest discussion about the issues with their opponents on the left.

Rush wouldn’t be a ‘problem’ for the GOP if the GOP had any leadership capable of articulating a strong case against Obama and a counter plan. Most of what Rush says is correct but the GOP is too determined to not come off as the media is insistent on portraying them and so they are timid and apologetic. If the GOP had bold and effective leadership they’d have someone out there saying, “What Rush is basically saying is correct. Rush is an entertainer so he says things in a way to get attention but the core of what he’s saying is correct and here is why…”.

Or preferably the GOP should be out there making similar but better worded statements themselves instead of being forced to react to what Rush is saying.

canopfor on June 4, 2009 at 7:38 PM

Why he insists on gratuitously provocative comparisons like that knowing how the left will use them to make Republicans squirm is beyond me….

…he insists on saying these things, probably, because they’re true…make it any clearer, spunky?

…the fact that the left dogpiles on these things isn’t because they’re “distortable”, but because, were he to say that he had farina for breakfast this morning, they’d call him a racist for harkening back to the Li’l Rascals character and that he was stereotyping blacks….

…the Alinskian left has to pile on and lie…because, if they were to tell the truth about their methods and aims, their naivete would see them laughed off the planet, their arrogance would seem then drowned in their own spittle, and their utterly impractical through-the-looking-glass worldview would see them committed to a looney bin en masse.

…in short, if Rush didn’t exist, they’d have to create him….

…forget the blogosphere for a minute…real life exists out there beyond the keyboard, where paychecks cash and bills come in too quickly for the paychecks…out there, all words of the blathering Begalas, croaking Carvilles, obfuscating Olbermans, and blithering Huffingtonites taken together don’t amount to a popcorn fart…they only serve to distract…sort of like Beck’s magician example…”listen to the bull coming from the left…that’s it…look left…while I pick your pocket with my right hand”….

…these noise generators have every right to be utterly wrong…and thanks to our convoluted legal hurdles they can even be insulting and libelous while doing it…but, they’re still wrong…..

…and, in this case, Rush is right….

…not just Right, but right, meaning that Mr. Obama is so efficient at New-New Dealing America that Al Qaeda’d be smarter putting their resources into attacking China or India or Mars or somewhere else that “infidels” dot the prairie…or, maybe, they can get together and teach their people to read…that’d be a trick….

…it’s foolishness beyond measure to think that there’s any “line” that he’s crossing here…any line has been established by the mainstream press and the chattering classes…and just who owns that sordid bit of real estate, eh?

…let ‘em have it, Rush….

Puritan1648 on June 4, 2009 at 7:39 PM

God Bless Rush!!! But why is the MSM asking who is the leader of the Republican Party? We just lost an election a few months ago! Who was the leader of Democratic Party in June of 2005, a few months after they lost a presidential election?

Our true leader will emerge in 2011 after she … maybe it will be a he…wins the Republican presidential primaries, no?

Funny I made an Osama goes to paradise and gets no virgins because Barak was the one that succeeded.

Hey MSNBC why aren’t you talking about me??

Oh yeah, because I’m not a threat to your ratings.

idk who that Face Off woman is, but it’s funny to see her pretend to be a journalist.

bluelightbrigade on June 4, 2009 at 7:19 PM

And that would be the Barbara Walters definition: A commentator.

Upstater85 on June 4, 2009 at 7:26 PM

I’ m with you there…well, then it’s funny to see her pretend to be a commentator, too.

lol

bluelightbrigade on June 4, 2009 at 7:42 PM

Funny. It never, ever bothered me when people spoke the truth.

Wow, spicy, angry, Lefty black chick. In leather, she would look sunsational.

We leave that kind of talk to Strangelet.

Upstater85 on June 4, 2009 at 7:43 PM

Rush rules.

Obama contines to quake and shiver in his boxer briefs. He has earned his pplace as the Biggest Embarrassment of th USA ever. His TOTUS rules the world. The “o” is nothing more than an esophagus of an unwilling human closked in black skin. He fails to impress.

Michelle continues to work her image beyond the skills of the best Human Designers In the Nation.,. Good luck, Michelle. Your words, thoughts, deeds preceed you. You cannot hide from your angry anti American Agenda.

Key West Reader on June 4, 2009 at 7:44 PM

I’ll answer it. Yes Rush is right.

iceman1960 on June 4, 2009 at 7:45 PM

If Al Qaeda wants to demolish the America we know and love, they’d better hurry because Obama’s beating them to it.

I could not agree more. The only “Republicans” who should be squirming are those crapweasels in Congress and they mostly lack the decency and integrity to do so.

I like how she says MSNBC has the right to defend themselves against Rush. Ummmm… he is criticizing the President and the left. Aren’t you a nonpartisan news organization????

Courtesy of Bill O’Reilly, I already sent a very cordial email to certified assclown Jeffrey Immelt, President of GE, letting him know what I think of his single-handedly destroying the once great NBC network and turning MSNBC into the official mouthpiece for the liberal moonbat loon left.

Why not do the same? Send a polite but firm email to this clown at jeffrey.immelt@ge.com, or write him at General Electric, 3135 Easton Turnpike, Fairfield, CT 06828, and let Immelt feel the love.
