Video: MSNBC very angry at having its Limbaugh obsession pointed out

posted at 6:55 pm on June 4, 2009 by Allahpundit

Via Greg Hengler. If, like E.J. Dionne, you’re dumb enough to believe that the media hypes Rush’s controversies because it’s secretly right-wing rather than overtly left-wing and intent on framing Obama as centrist and “reasonable” by comparison, then you’re probably also dumb enough to believe he’s in constant rotation on MSNBC because the brain trust there finds him genuinely relevant and interesting. This is, of course, part of the Rahm/Carville/Begala strategy of tarring the GOP with every distortable soundbite to exit Limbaugh’s lips; no surprise that a network known for bowing to Obama — literally — would be willing to lend a hand. Today’s soundbite du jour comes from last night’s Hannity:

No, I don’t back away from anything I’ve said about President Obama and his policies and his plans. I don’t know him personally. I don’t wish him ill as a human being. But he’s my president. He’s all of our president. His ideas and his policies matter.

I can’t remember who said this, but you know this is something that I’ve thought long and hard about repeating in this interview with you: If Al Qaeda wants to demolish the America we know and love, they’d better hurry because Obama’s beating them to it.

Why he insists on gratuitously provocative comparisons like that knowing how the left will use them to make Republicans squirm is beyond me, but it sure does keep his name in the news. Exit question: Are Rush and MSNBC co-dependent?

Update: John Ziegler keeps it short and to the point.

Of NBC’s “Inside the Obama White House” special, Ziegler didn’t mince words. “Monica Lewinsky never dreamed of doing to Bill Clinton some of the things Brian Williams did to Barack Obama during that two-part special,” said Ziegler. “It was beyond glowing.”

Monica Lewinsky had the good sense to do Clinton in private.

Brian Williams is a public exhibitionist.

Obama will be slowing torturing several million people for the next 4 years. This is a slow and painful death of a country. Obama kills countries.

PappaMac on June 4, 2009 at 7:59 PM

One of the major goals of Al Qaeda in the 9/11 attacks was crippling the U.S. economy by making people afraid to fly on commercial airliners. Osama bin Laden has always said that he wants to destroy our way of life, not just kill lots of us. So Rush’s statement was entirely accurate.

rockmom on June 5, 2009 at 12:46 PM

MSNBC missed both points and lack credibility.

We haven’t.

maverick muse on June 5, 2009 at 5:40 PM

Did she really say “it’s our responsibility to report both sides”. Are you freakin kidding me???????? That’s some funny crap right there.
Notice how missnews cuts the clip just as Rush starts to explain it? That’s how they CREATE their news.

oakpack on June 5, 2009 at 5:55 PM

Rush is right almost all of the time. Do not doubt him.

Because being provocative gets you attention?

The left will use anything and everything against Republicans. Squirm if you must, but I simply don’t care. I’m not alone.

TheUnrepentantGeek on June 5, 2009 at 6:28 PM

“Do not try to call out this network for doing our job…”

If you had been doing your job, we might have someone with a clue in the White House.

Oyster on June 5, 2009 at 6:38 PM

I suppose the left doesn’t make anyone squirm with comparisons of baptism to waterboarding. We’ve tried nice- it doesn’t work. Fight fire with fire.

alwaysright43 on June 5, 2009 at 7:01 PM

They only hate Rush ’cause he’s relevant.

Mojave Mark on June 5, 2009 at 10:07 PM

I love Rush because he’s fearless.
He is my hero.

How about: Who gives a crap what the Left thinks or says? What are you so concerned about this? Do you need the love and aprobation of the Left, like Bambi needs the love and aprobation of every two-bit dictator and third-world creep other there?

Who cares WHO dislikes Rush, or the GOP, or conservatives, if their dislike is because Rush speaks the truth, and is the last vestige of real conservatism?

Maybe you need to re-think and re-eval your own positions and values.

Rush is Awesome.

The State Run media blows moose dick.

Geochelone on June 6, 2009 at 9:33 AM

I don’t agree with Rush on a couple matters, but for the most part, the man is simply talking common sense. That’s what the Collectivists fear most: Common Sense…

Now if we only had a media that would report news instead of what the Obamas had for breakfast…No one needs Journalism school for that garbage….

adamsmith on June 6, 2009 at 10:11 AM

Amusing again how soon the left forget how they acted when they were not in control.

They can not just report the news and admit the truth they must attack the messenger to avoid handling the truth. “The Emperor has not cloths”, and that’s the way they want to see their leader, “He’s Hot” according to members of the View.

Okay, so now that we’ve addressed the “extremity” and “provocativeness” of Rush’s words, anyone else wanna tell me why they’re not true?

Maybe because he has integrity and is not afraid of the state run media unlike some pundits who are afraid of their own shadow and believe in being Politically Correct.

He and Dick Cheney are the only one that have had the balls to call Obama for what he is since he was sworn in. All the other RNC politicos are hiding under their desks.

rockmom on June 5, 2009 at 12:46 PM

That’s why at first I actually entertained the notion that Obama was a manchurian candidate for AQ. It was immediately obvious that Obama WANTS to destroy the economy. He is simply doing it from the inside instead of flying planes into our economic centers.

But there were simply too many problems with the notion that he’s in cahoots with Muslim terrorists. Then when Michelle Malkin linked Obama with Piven (through ACORN), the pieces fell together. The whole Cloward-Piven strategy is to impose Marxism on the country by creating an economic crisis. If Obama can destroy the dollar and our economy, he can rescue it by shifting the country into a Marxist state.

Add to that the fact that George Soros (who is funding Obama and ACORN) will get billions from the collapse of the dollar, and it all fits together perfectly.

So Rush is absolutely right that Obama is destroying the country, but his motive is simply unrelated to Muslim extremists.

I’ve listened to Rush for 20+ years. He has helped educate and enlighten millions over these years. His analysis is insightful, funny, sarcastic and relevant. He wouldn’t get this much attention if it wasn’t. He is so out in front of many issues–currently is WAYyyy out in front of others on the Sotomayor pro-choice/pro-life issue that it pisses people off because he generally turns out to be right. He was right 12-14 years ago when he predicted Sotomayor was on a “rocketship to the SCOTUS.”

Rush’s analysis is far, far deeper than any schoolhouse education than you could ever purchase. He charges no tuition, he offers no degrees, and the learning never stops–his mind is agile, his analysis penetrating to the core on a wide range of issues, and his delivery cuts like a knife to those who listen to him (many hear Rush, but only those of us who follow Rush, actually listen to him). These MSNBC folks hear Rush, but would refuse to listen to him. They refuse to listen because the truth hurts those that know only lies.

All this Rush obsession at MSNBC is about getting him to buy the network save these moron’s jobs. The way the ratings are going, someone will need to bail-out MSNBC soon, and Rush could probably afford it.He could keep this bimbo on to cover Hollyweird. She is good looking and stupid–a perfect fit.

DDT on June 6, 2009 at 8:39 PM

Rush is right 99.1% of the time now, and I think he is right about Obama ruining the country. He didn’t say “like Al Queda,” but he did say they better hurry if they want to ruin our country because Obama is beating them to ruining our country, and by golly, he is right again. Obama is ruining our country. Get a grip, MSNBC. You don’t report both sides at all. Never have and never will.

Right on – Right on !! – Educated by Rush for the past 18 years. Rush is right for a reason, he does his homework, and is the most insightful conservative out there.

Dasher on June 7, 2009 at 7:51 AM

If you are a Republican and you squirm when the left quotes Rush, then you aren’t much of a conservative and so-called Republicans like you are the death of the party.

Spartacus on June 7, 2009 at 9:36 AM

More often than not the left misquotes or takes out of context. They can’t argue with the guy head to head, and they know it. Thus the endless references to his weight or his past drug addiction.

ddrintn on June 7, 2009 at 3:54 PM

I think I’ve said it before, but “toning down the language” simply isn’t effective. The leftist controlled mainstream media will misquote you no matter how politely you phrase your remarks.

Rush should stay as incendiary as it is because every time MSNBC or someone else calls attention to him, it helps to remind the country that Obama’s leadership and poor decisions are not going unchallenged. And who knows? Maybe someone will be tempted to actually listen to his show instead of taking someone else’s word that he’s a horrible, horrible, awful man.

R. Waher on June 7, 2009 at 8:08 PM

Rush’s rhetoric should stay as incendiary as it is, I mean.

Oh yeah. I definitely remember them being this up in arms everytime some lib compared Bush to Hitler.
