Palin: Obama’s fiscal policies are designed to “control the people”

posted at 7:31 pm on June 4, 2009 by Allahpundit

Audio here. It’s only 15 minutes long and kicks off with a salute to the Gipper (she was introducing his son Michael), but stick with the middle third if you’re only interested in the economic stuff. A bit rambly, but Palinistas would say that’s all part of the charm.

“We need to be aware of the creation of a fearful population, and fearful lawmakers, being led to believe that big government is the answer, to bail out the private sector, because then government gets to get in there and control it,” she said. “And mark my words, this is going to be next, I fear, bail out next debt-ridden states. Then government gets to get in there and control the people.”

“Some in Washington would approach our economic woes in ways that absolutely defy Economics 101, and they fly in the face of principles, providing opportunity for industrious Americans to succeed or to fail on their own accord,” she said. “Those principles it makes you wonder what the heck some in Washington are trying to accomplish here.”

The sacred name of The One is never uttered, but given his burning desire to control the people by nationalizing their medical care, it’s clear enough whom she has in mind when she refers to “some in Washington.” Or is it?

Thanks for posting, but let’s not give the Communist News Network traffic. They only posted what they wanted to. There’s MUCH more of interest in the speech.

Better to go here: http://www.conservatives4palin.com/2009/06/gov-palin-obamas-economic-policy-is.html

Damn, I love this woman!

It seems like our brave and delicious Arctic Fox is making a habit of tweaking the Messiah’s ego. She is the only one with courage and character enough outside of talk radio to actually highlight and challenge his stupid and reckless policies..

I really think she will be the one in 2012.

Be careful Barry, this Barracuda bites! YEAH BABY!

OlympicLeprechaun on June 4, 2009 at 7:40 PM

Typical of the ‘Cuda:

“Screw political correctness.”

“Never, never do we have to apologize for being proud of our country.”

“We win; they lose.” (using a Ronald Reagan to refer to Iraq)

“Unless your state is ready to chuck the 10th Amendment and you’re going to hand over willingly more power and control to a big centralized government and DC politicians who will tell you what to do in your state…the warning was be careful with the temptation with the stimulus dollars…”

“It’s in God we trust and not in big government we trust.”

It’s about time she speaks out. Time to reclaim the intellectual debate.

therightscoop on June 4, 2009 at 7:42 PM

So, AP, still think she’s going to sit out 2012? This was as red-meaty as it can be, introducing Michael, but I’d expect a few interesting soundbites out of her NY trip too.

Branch Rickey on June 4, 2009 at 7:45 PM

Record deficits? No big deal. Double digit unemployment? We’ll deal with it. Nationalizing major industries? It’s only temporary. Projecting weakness to our enemies? Hey, maybe they’ll like us more. Sarah Palin? SHE’S SCARY!

ardenenoch on June 4, 2009 at 7:49 PM

Even though the audio was bad, the speech was good.

I don’t think I qualify as a Palinista, but I do love the way she speaks.

I think she has the best opportunity to talk to average voters about the government debt and out of control growth of the federal government. All the GOP players should be doing this, of course, but Palin does it exceptionally well. Let Mitt and others do the tv interviews and let Palin talk to the people.

The sacred name of The One is never uttered, but given his burning desire to control the people by nationalizing their medical care, it’s clear enough whom she has in mind when she refers to “some in Washington.” Or is it?

She’s talking about the whole junta holding power, of which The Precedent is but the leader with the skin that deflects criticism, all on its own. Without his skin, none of this could have happened.

christene on June 4, 2009 at 7:51 PM

Back in the cold war – my submarine ran aground – and man, that was scary – we even had “bad guys” out blasting sonar looking for us (we were far from friends).

But we were stuck in the mud hard. Each time we threw propulsion into the screw – it’d “chug” a few times like it was going to free us but then it’d start cavitating – no go.

Finally – on one of the attempts, the screw “bit” and we came rocketing off that muddy, gravel bottom like it was nobody’s business. See ya later bad guys!

I think the GOP comeback is going to be like that. A few “chugs” and false starts … then the screw’ll “bite”.

Good to see the ‘cuda out there throwing some steam to the power plant.

HondaV65 on June 4, 2009 at 7:52 PM

Let Mitt and others do the tv interviews and let Palin talk to the people.

myrenovations on June 4, 2009 at 7:50 PM

If only she could speak more often to the Lower 48 without the ankle-biters throwing ethics complaints at her, or telling her she’s turning her back on AK by leaving.

Bravo, Sarah. This fantastic politician is brave in putting her cogent analysis right out there for the state-controlled news media to barf over. Eff ‘em.

Sarah is the Reformer. Teh One and Axelrod started sweating the minute she hit the national stage. Unlike Obama, Sarah Palin is a successful reformer and politician who works without background thugs and foot soldiers. She’s successfully balanced a budget. She accepts criticism, fair or otherwise, that Obama could never imagine in his wildest dreams.

It’s mid-terms, everyone, mid-terms. Vote OUT the one-party rule that helps this tyrant with his marxist destructive self-promoting agenda.

The speech basically outlines this populist/outsider messaging approach on her part. Look for the buzz words “republican” to be left out of her vocabulary for “conservative” “individual” when she starts campaigning.

I am sure she is politically savvy enough to understand that she needs to improve her craft on many areas. This is why she shouldn’t run for reelection so she can have enough time to address these issues.

This Anti Washington figure hopes that all the right factors come to fruition in 2011…

Don’t be surprised if you see these same sentiments in her book.

TimeTraveler on June 4, 2009 at 8:04 PM

It is about controlling the people. It hasn’t hit the media much yet, but most of southern California’s inland farmers are SOL as of a ruling today that only gives the 300,000 ac-ft of water. The more the government gets into our business structure the less control (and freedom) we have.

Thank you Sarah for saying it like it is.

Sarah walked into the valley
With the truth clutched in her hand
She was only a girl
But she knew someone must take a stand

There will always be a valley
Always mountains one must scale
There will always be perilous waters
Which someone must sail

Never hold back your step for a moment
Never doubt that your courage will grow
Yes, it’s higher and higher

During a 17 minute speech Sarah addresses:

1) political correctness

2)there is no need to abandon Reagan conservatism

3)criticizing Obama for his ‘apology tour’

4)Washington taking away the freedom of Americans

5)Why she would be a great CIC:

“We win; they lose.” (Ronald Reagan)

6)mocking Obama’s devastating economic policies

7)alluding to the narcissism of Obama and his followers

8)linking the destruction of the economic properity of America and Americans as immoral and the product of misguided socialist policies

9)upholding the 10th Amendment and the danger of the stimulus package to states rights

10)the feds will be bailing out state governments in debt

11)affirmation of God and not the power of government

12)state-owned media

13)willingness to sacrifice her career to speak out

14)slamming politicians who only care about getting re-elected

Quite a bit for only a 17 minute speech
