I was with some of the OR people in South Bend. Believe me, these people are PRO-LIFE. None of these people would even think for a second they were justified to actually murder another human being, even an abortionist.

Its the difference between those that believe the ends justify the means (libs) and those who believe the ends do NOT justify the means (cons).

Good people. They walk it. A*sholes like Roeder and Bledsoe DON'T.

Moreover, rigidity leads to self-riteousness, which then leads to smugness/arrogance.

There’s a lot of that floating around in both far-right and far-left.

Ann, its 100 to 1 ration of leftist hate to rightiest hate and you know that.

How many did you have?

"I wouldn't kill an abortionist myself, but I wouldn't want to impose my moral values on others. No one is for shooting abortionists. But how will criminalizing men making difficult, often tragic, decisions be an effective means of achieving the goal of reducing the shootings of abortionists?

"Following the moral precepts of liberals, I believe the correct position is: If you don't believe in shooting abortionists, then don't shoot one," -Ann Coulter.

Of course Islamic terrorists are totally different than an domestic terrorist. But a domestic terrorist is still a TERRORIST. Don’t try and defend some Christian nut job.

Start with irrelevance. The man who shot the abortionist is not a domestic terrorist. He's a murderer, and should be punished, but he didn't blow up property or attack innocent people unrelated to his complaint. He murdered someone who did something he hated. Directly.

The death penalty should apply, even though the man he murdered was a scumbag.

I’m sure Operation Rescue supported and financed him too.

Add to your irrelevance false accusations and presumption of guilt.

Their bombers just like Islamic terrorists.

Operation Rescue doesn't have bombers.

They hate just like Islamic terrorist, they justify their actions just like Islamic terrorists. Their cold blooded just like Islamic terrorists, they do it in the name of religeon, just like Islamic terrorists.

You seem filled with hate. That doesn't mean everyone else is.

The only difference is the scale of their actions.

athensboy on June 4, 2009 at 7:17 AM

Well, that, and the fact that Operation Rescue wasn't involved, that the action was murder, not terrorism, that antiabortion Christians don't advocate violence, or the forced conversion of those who don't agree with them, or even that it's OK to hate.

I'm guessing logic isn't your strong suit. But hate and rage can only take you so far.

I happen to support a legal regime that would, in Bill Clinton’s famous words, keep abortion safe, legal and rare.

Why rare? If it's a right, then why hope people don't use it as often as possible? This is equivocation.

I hold no brief for the religious right, and its views on homosexuality in particular offend (and affect) me personally. But it’s precisely because of my identity that I consider comparisons between so-called Christianists (who seek to limit my rights via the ballot box) and Islamic fundamentalists (who seek to limit my rights via decapitation) to be fatuous.

Am I the only one who didn't know?

Those quotes could be taken to mean that adultery is only committed once remarriage takes place. It doesn’t specify divorce only.

Although I'm from a different planet than yourself, I not only agree with your statement, I have also been saying much the same about many of the barbaric acts in some parts of the world that happen to be Muslim. Culture first, then religion.

genital mutilation is cultural, not religious. There are 57 muslim states in this world, stretching from morocco to indonesia. Only in certain African countries will you find that practice.

too often cultural nuances are projected onto the predominant religion. the argument made in the above post is still basically sound, but the genital mutilation part really doesn't help.

Sorry, I can see I was a little too terse in what I wrote. I’m not saying being in a bar means you’re fair game (but gee, thanks for the charitable interpretation). We have a guy, in a bar, purported to be a Muslim by the victim.

DrSteve on June 4, 2009 at 8:48 AM

You weren't being terse, you were being a tool. Has it occurred to you to notice what happens to those who claim that they were assaulted by a Muslim? It's not a free pass by any stretch of the imagination, it usually results in a vicious assault by first the MFMSM and then more assaults by the Muslim community.

In fact claiming to be assaulted by a Muslim is such a great idea the MFMSM pisses their own pants at the thought of offending Muslims.

They get a pass on that if they are about to kill some infidels.

"the Christian right's responsible reaction to the death of George Tiller should put to rest the lie that Judeo-Christian extremists are anywhere near as numerous or dangerous as those of the Muslim variety."

It should -- but it won't (see, e.g., idiotic comment from athensboy, above).

But later Major Garrett came on and explained why the White House never released a statement regarding the shooting of the soldier, but had on the murder of Dr. Tiller. He basically said, they didn’t release the statement publically, but if you called the White House you could get a copy of that statement.

You don't think 0bama could openly criticize a Muslim convert on the eve of his great speech to the "Muslim World," do you? Of course he had to keep it low-key. And all his reporter friends were rattling on about Tiller, so who's gonna ask anyway? Teeny little paper in Pvt. Long's hometown, maybe.

Wow, you are one warped human being. I feel sorry for your parents who no doubt are still stuck financing your dysfunctional lifestyle. I wonder if science will ever be able to determine the environmental or biological factors that created defectives like you. It is a worldwide disease so I would not be surprised to find out that there was some kind of environmental cause, some seemingly innocent product that is still not suspected, some ingredient in soap or some common food preservative. Some humans are immune and some are affected horribly.

Radical Islam aspires to destroy American society.

Conservative Christians seek to preserve American society as it has been.

The Left wants to change American society...in their way, to destroy it, and rebuild it to their aspirations.

Which of the first two do you think is more in line with the Left's desires?
