Video: New moment of glory added to Blagojevich family scrapbook

Via Politico, a little spit ‘n polish on the shiny Blago brand from last night’s “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.” What makes her a celeb, apart from getting picked up on wiretaps cursing a blue streak, I simply don’t know, but it’s downright endearing how eagerly she and Hot Rod have embraced their public disgrace. If you’re married to a corrupt buffoon and your surname’s become a national punchline, why not eat a tarantula on television? Have fun, live life. Munch spiders.

Speaking of said buffoon, Moe Lane flags a new AP report claiming that Dick Durbin spoke to Blago about his plan to trade Obama’s senate seat for political favors just two weeks before he was arrested. Worth reading, although horse-trading strikes me as more a specie of perfectly legal corruption, like earmarks, than the icky and bad kind involving cold hard cash.

How nice.

Look at the size of the yap on her. That must be worse than anything prison’s going to do to him.

Do you know who the f**k I am? No, I’m not Meghan McCain…

Daggett on June 2, 2009 at 3:30 PM

Kind of reminds me of …..you know, what’s her name..McCain.

There’s a moral to this story somewhere…I’m still searching for it.

AUINSC on June 2, 2009 at 3:30 PM

Just another example of the narcissism of America – it’s all about me – even if it’s all about disgrace.

OhEssYouCowboys on June 2, 2009 at 3:32 PM

Wow, they really are hard up for “celebrities” willing to participate in this, aren’t they?

Patti Blagojevich!?! Really? Yahoo Serious wasn’t available?

Kensington on June 2, 2009 at 3:32 PM

She needs a bar of soap (preferably LifeBuoy) shoved in her dirty mouth.

portlandon on June 2, 2009 at 3:33 PM

I think the network should be sued for false advertising. “I am a celebrity…” and Mrs. Blowdry are not compatible.

cat-scratch on June 2, 2009 at 3:34 PM

What’s eating a spider – she’s married to a snake.

kybowexar on June 2, 2009 at 3:36 PM

Barf and double barf.

Steve Z on June 2, 2009 at 3:36 PM

LOU DIAMOND PHILLIPS IS ON THAT SHOW?

Figures

This reality show is an upgrade for him tho.

blatantblue on June 2, 2009 at 3:37 PM

I’d eat bear scat before eating any type of arachnid.

In a word, I HATE SPIDERS.

The Ugly American on June 2, 2009 at 3:37 PM

I hate eating tarantulas.

Wow I am impressed with how wide she can get her mouth open, and even more than Barny Frank, it appears she is willing to put just about anything in it.
If I was Jayne I would be going to my bunk right about now

Considering that the first season had Stuttering John, Melissa Rivers, and Bruce Jenner (and those were the BIG names) I think said lawsuit can demonstrate prior bad acts.

DrAllecon on June 2, 2009 at 3:39 PM

What a perfectly good waste of air time–the whole show! Maybe this is really a case of cannibalism–one tarantula eating another. “Musty, yeasty…” Vile!

Driefromseattle on June 2, 2009 at 3:39 PM

I was flipping between that show and The Bachelorette last night. I could actually feel my brain cells dying.

VH1 should have an hour-long show, where Danny Bonaduce is sitting in front of a mirror, filming himself, sitting in front of a mirror.

It’s gold, Jerry! Gold!

OhEssYouCowboys on June 2, 2009 at 3:45 PM

This is totally off topic but I just wanted to say Hi to all the HotAir folks. I’ve been offline the last couple of weeks as I have returned to Iraq and am now working at the New Embassy. It’s a nice set-up but the internet is sloooooow. It’s going to be a while before I see anything near normal speeds so I suppose I may have to pass on some of the videos.

It’s good to “see” you guys again. I’ve missed the site.

Guardian on June 2, 2009 at 3:47 PM

Um, ok, I actually wanted to talk about this. Has anyone seen the clip where she is talking ABOUT the scandal? I watched the show last night (don’t ask…I’m weird about reality tv shows) and she was weeping about it, crying about her kids, etc., and everyone was super sympathetic about her situation and then Spencer and Heidi prayed over her (egad!!!) It was WEIRD. What was the decision making process in her going on the show?

blatantblue on June 2, 2009 at 3:52 PM

I actually watched this travisty last night (we just got an HD tv and I’m enamored with the technology). Stupidest part of show was when some d list celeb asked her about her husband and she claimed he was just trying to fight the special interests and that’s why he got brought down. What a twit.

Really NBC? What a load of crappy television.

At least Conan made fun of Biden last night.

darii on June 2, 2009 at 3:56 PM

Read again today they walked out again after the live show we watched last night. One can only hope it will be the last we see of them. Idiots ruined the Hills, I kept hoping Salley would bitch slap him.

ProudinNC on June 2, 2009 at 4:00 PM

Oh good grief. You go on a show like this and you know there is going to be an icky food challenge.

Just like the Amazing Race – you know you’re going to have to do some challenge that involves heights!

Idiot people.

ladyingray on June 2, 2009 at 4:01 PM

I thought this was the first season (of the American version anyway).

Esthier on June 2, 2009 at 3:42 PM

No, they had one going back maybe 4 years or so ago. I’m trying to remember some of the other “stars.” I think Robin Leech was one, and Chris Judd. He was JayLo’s husband, whom she left for Ben Affleck. This made for someone awesomely awful uncomfortable moments when Bruce Jenner cluelessly kept talking about how handsome and what a good actor Ben Affleck was in front of Chris.

Here’s the link.

Mommypundit on June 2, 2009 at 3:48 PM

I like reality shows too (just ask my friends and family who know not to call me during Survivor unless there is blood and broken bones involved) but I’ll pass on this.

ladyingray on June 2, 2009 at 4:03 PM

Lou…Diamond…Phillips….Mr. Stand and Deliver and La Bamba on the same show as PottyMouth Blago?

Oh!….Hi Guardian – Good to see you ’round.

“Idiocracy”

Everyone you feel is worth saving needs to see this movie

Sugarbuzz on June 2, 2009 at 4:11 PM

Never thought I would feel such pity for an arachnid. “It’s bad enough that I have to eaten, but by that potty mouth?”

Meanwhile, Obama, and friends are going to ask for another 7 billion, just to keep the highways, and bridges projects going. *sigh*

Sad to see LD Phillips in this travesty. Would be worth watching if it was Lou vs all the other ‘celebrities’.

BHO Jonestown on June 2, 2009 at 4:29 PM

Where’s PETA? This clip clearly advances the negative stereotype of tarantulas.

Also, poor Chachi.

sarahpalinfan99 on June 2, 2009 at 4:42 PM

ProudinNC on June 2, 2009 at 4:00 PM

(in NC, too.)

Speidi is exactly why I am watching this show! Haha. His meltdown yesterday made it quite trainwreckish, even more than before. It’s like rubberknecking…just can’t stop LOOKING at it.

They did ruin the Hills, though. I really wasn’t watching it to see their tragic relationship (and her/Lauren’s drama over) hijack the already banal program. eh. I guess we can’t be too picky with our quality reality programming.

Mommypundit on June 2, 2009 at 4:47 PM

Rubbernecking. yikes. Spelling much?

Mommypundit on June 2, 2009 at 4:48 PM

I thought they served them at Serbian McDonald’s?

Patti Blagojevich!?! Really? Yahoo Serious wasn’t available?

Kensington on June 2, 2009 at 3:32 PM

Blago wasn’t allowed out of the country by the judge to do the program so Patti’s doing it (and apparently getting well compensated for it). It would be even more funny if Blago was on it than it currently is.

BTW, the best thing about the program last night was Heidi and Spencer meltdowns.

Illinidiva on June 2, 2009 at 4:52 PM

omigosh…Sanjaya is on this show! Now I know I’ll never watch it! GAH!

ladyingray on June 2, 2009 at 4:56 PM

The tarantula was disgusted to be eaten by something so big and ugly.

Schadenfreude on June 2, 2009 at 5:03 PM

A couple commenters mentioned that they watched the show.SERIOUSLY–why?

Personally I hate those kinds of shows, and wish everyone would stop watching them so that the ratings fall so far,the networks would have to create a worthwhile product to broadcast.Although ,I must admit,I did like “Scream Queens”.Does that make me a hypocrit?

DDT on June 2, 2009 at 5:13 PM

With the chance of “DA BLAGO” in jail, she was forced to fend for herself. It was either a bad reality show or prostitution…. It’s a spider eat spider world out there…

They were going to eat Brown Recluse… but at the last minute they changed to tarantulas… the brown reluse taste great, but are less filling….

CynicalOptimist on June 2, 2009 at 5:21 PM

Well, at least we’ll be able to do the Iraq fact-checks that the State-Run-Media won’t do.

platypus on June 2, 2009 at 5:46 PM

I watched the first episode last night – it was about what I expected. One thing I noticed – the woman host – her hands look HUGE. It was freaky.

All in all,I’d rather see Blago eat a tarantula than Mrs Blago.

darwin-t on June 2, 2009 at 6:59 PM

But without Drew Peterson on there, the show just doesn’t seem to click somehow.

Dr. ZhivBlago on June 2, 2009 at 7:20 PM

From playing Ritchie Valens to eating spiders with D list celebs for an Australian audience.

How sad.

V-rod on June 2, 2009 at 8:43 PM

Don’t eat tarantulas.

Really, unless they’re prepared JUST right, the spiny hairs get into your lungs and you choke on your own blood.

So, don’t eat tarantulas.

Merovign on June 2, 2009 at 10:51 PM

Woman bites spider and it dies.

MaiDee on June 2, 2009 at 11:53 PM

I tried to watch this show (repeated tonight) and I have never ever seen a dumber show in my life. That’s saying some because there are some really bad ones out there. But this has to go down as an embarrassment to anyone associated with it.

katablog.com on June 3, 2009 at 12:00 AM

Proud to say I have NEVER watched any “Reality TV” (aka “writer-free TV”).

If no actual entertainment is on, I find something else to do.
