Video: Michael Moore pretty darned excited about owning a car company

posted at 9:22 pm on June 2, 2009 by Allahpundit

Actually, no. What he’s excited about is the left having acquired a massive labor force which it can use to serve whatever leftist end it wishes. To hell with General Motors as a car company; let’s shift to a full-blown wartime command economy footing and force GM to start churning out bullet trains and solar panels and green energy devices and everything else under the Democrats’ Christmas tree. Americans may love their cars, but the environment doesn’t. So they’ll simply have to go:

For the time being, have some factories build hybrid or all-electric cars (and batteries). It will take a few years for people to get used to the new ways to transport ourselves, so if we’re going to have automobiles, let’s have kinder, gentler ones. We can be building these next month (do not believe anyone who tells you it will take years to retool the factories — that simply isn’t true).

No word on where this will leave GM’s competitors; presumably they’ll have to be shut down or seized in due course and reoriented for the sake of Mother Nature. And to pay for it? A new two-dollar tax on gasoline, which won’t at all have systemic economic effects as businesses pass their new transportation costs on to consumers. What could go wrong?

If Olby — a firm opponent of expansive executive power while Bush was in office — sees any pitfalls or slippery slopes in this stroke of genius, he keeps it to himself.

bayam, Cramer is anything but a harsh government critic. That’s laughable. He got slapped by Jon Stewart and no doubt received a phone call from the White House telling him they were keeping an eye out on his children for him….

Haven’t heard a peep from him since.

katy on June 3, 2009 at 12:19 AM

AP, you blog as if you take Moore’s comments seriously and they require a reasonable response.

Silly you!

A voice of reason on June 3, 2009 at 12:22 AM

No way am I clicking but Im betting he wants double wide seats and drinkholders that can take a bucket of KFC.

Chuck Schick on June 3, 2009 at 12:22 AM

Time for a “Michael and Me” schlockumentary.

sulla on June 3, 2009 at 12:28 AM

Someone should tell Mikey that a too-small (for his fat head) ball cap, “smart glasses” and messy hair really sends a mixed message to his audience. Is he from South Park, King of the Hill or the Goode Family?

MarkABinVA on June 3, 2009 at 12:40 AM

Only in the framework of the intellectually inbred MSM could such a dishonest, disingenuous hypocrite even make a living, not to mention a million.

Merovign on June 2, 2009 at 10:24 PM

I wish I had said that. “Intellectually inbred” LOL

Geochelone on June 3, 2009 at 12:53 AM

Excited? Of course! Moore is a car unto himself!

Let the family reunion commence! :D

PS: KITT has a trillion times the brains of Moore.

Porkulus‘ Mascot and personal embodiment.

You can almost smell the fetor emanating from this vacuous doofus.

Michael Marsh Gas Moore.

And since Mikey likes cars…

He is the LADA of documentarians.

profitsbeard on June 3, 2009 at 1:26 AM

I’m sorry but according to the liberals’ “Limbaugh Criterium” of political discussion, Michael Moore does no meet the minimum weight requirement needed to have a cogent rational thought.

AaronGuzman on June 3, 2009 at 1:33 AM

A talking whale, thats pretty impressive.

lavell12 on June 3, 2009 at 1:54 AM

Mike Moore (MM) is a pathetic individual whereas Michelle Malkin (MM) is very smart, courageous and a true patriot.

Geochelone on June 3, 2009 at 1:55 AM

What a waste of skin—A LOT of skin!

tbear44 on June 3, 2009 at 3:24 AM

Lol, with all the communist garbage Moore spews, many of you just take a crack at how fat he is.

That being said, one good thing about socialized health care, is they’ll ration and tax the obese like Moore.

V-rod on June 3, 2009 at 6:24 AM

I haven’t read all the comments yet but what does Mr. Moore drive. Or does Mr. Moore drive? I’d pay to see him get in and out of that goofy Smart “fortwo” car. I bet there is no way another person is getting in with him.

Cindy Munford on June 3, 2009 at 6:45 AM

I’m for it. Let every g’d person in California plug Chevy Obama’s in at night! They can hardly keep the power on with their current usage.

Caper29 on June 3, 2009 at 8:12 AM

People in S.F. are talking about how GM deserves to die for its sins of a half-century ago, when it helped rip up the public transportation infrastructure of various cities,

calbear on June 2, 2009 at 9:55 PM

I’ve always been amazed by the eagerness by which those on the left uncritically glom onto any myth that fits their agenda.

The version of the myth that I heard was that it was Goodyear that paid towns to tear up their trolley tracks.

Regardless, the truth is that once cars became affordable, people stopped riding public transportation. That’s why many towns got rid of them. There was no conspiracy. It was plain, old fasioned economics.
People stopped ridding the systems, towns abandoned the now empty systems.

Is M.M related to Janeane Garofalo? They are like two peas in a pod, in every way possible.

christene on June 2, 2009 at 10:39 PM

I think Mickey has bigger boobs.

MarkTheGreat on June 3, 2009 at 8:53 AM

It will take a few years for people to get used to the new ways to transport ourselves,

Typical liberal.
Who cares what the people want. We will force them to like what we give them.

MarkTheGreat on June 3, 2009 at 8:55 AM

Well, there’s no viable American auto industry if GM fails because the entire infrastructure collapses (ie parts suppliers), and Ford would go down with it. No GM, no Ford or any other American automaker.

bayam on June 2, 2009 at 11:37 PM

I’m trying to decide if you really are this stupid, or just like pretending to be stupid.

What percentage of the American auto market does GM hold at present. 10%, 15%? And the parts industry will collapse if GM folds?

You forget that the market is fluid. If GM folds, other companies, many of them with plants here in America, will step up and takeover GM’s markets.

MarkTheGreat on June 3, 2009 at 8:59 AM

Those who say that such a danger never presented itself were not on the inside and have no idea what occurred to our financial system over the last 6 months.

You seem to have a very simplistic understanding of the world.

bayam on June 2, 2009 at 11:53 PM

Ah yes, only the people who engineered TARP have the knowledge to judge whether or not it worked, or was even necessary.

Nice attempt at putting your thumb on the scale there.

As to having simplistic views, have you read ANY of your posts?

MarkTheGreat on June 3, 2009 at 9:01 AM

Why GM? Why take it over then let the Chinese buy part of it anyway after the takeover, and the meatiest part of it at that? Then even wierder, is why give them all that money to then take it over anyway? So did China now get some of their money back or did we borrow the money pee it away into a failing GM and now still owe China on top of having part of GM sold to them? Where are the checks and balances? Who is accountable for any of all this money flying about? The American people are just pawns, correction, pawns for pawns.

Please Please make 4 years of this all there will be or cut it short and throw some limits to it all with the 2010 elections.

johnnyU on June 3, 2009 at 9:18 AM

Speaking of mouth-breathers and whales…

rogersnowden on June 3, 2009 at 9:33 AM

micheal dumass moore also wants a 2 dollar a gallon tax on gas to pay for public transportation thus killing the rest of the economy.

To save it of course.

How is he ever going to fit his lard ass into one of those little bitty green cars?
