Your feelgood story of the day, starring a man who’s never gotten the respect he’s due and two good kids unwilling to deny it to him just because the left wants them to. Enjoy.

Or trying to be something he’s not. Everytime I listen to Obama I picture him sitting in his room at Harvard listening to the audio tapes of Rev. Wright he brought along so that he could learn to mimic his speech patterns. Did Barry stand in front of his mirror, practicing his “God Damn Amerikkka . . .” over and over again?
This was a nice story about Justice Thomas but I wonder why the two kids had no idea who he was. What kind of education are they getting at Quince Orchard? But anyway, kudos to Justice Thomas for taking the time to speak at the kids’ graduation. That must have been quite a thrill for them.

No internet last night what a lovely story to wake up to. Thank you Allahpundit.

I got Thomas’s auto biography, My Grandfather’s Son on audio. He actually did the reading. It is very good. The man has real integrity.

The news out of Washington is so depressing. It’s bizzarro world except for this story. Justice Thomas is a class act and we always hope that class shows like this instance.

Thanks AP. This is the sort of thing that makes HA a pleasure to wake up to.
I’m hoping that this is a sign that your pathological obsession with Ms. McCain is subsiding.

I think that if more of us were like Justice Thomas, the world would be a far better place.

Thanks, Allahpundit.
And thanks to NBCWashington.com.
Ah, refreshing good news.
You’re right; that will be my next book. Great men like Clarence Thomas make America proud as an example of a mind and person who rises above prejudice to show that wisdom is metaphysical, hence available to any who advance beyond themselves into the higher realm of thoughtful appreciation for all things considered, with rule of law protecting the ideal of “justice” from being usurped for political expediency. Soon, when I read his book, I’ll find if my impression has validity from his perspective.
Aside, last night I viewed the PBS presentation celebrating the life and career of the great American chemist Percy L. Julian. Another very admirable man of great talents that included absolute fortitude to excel against all odds.
It renews spirit to find those youth who laud true integrity. Best wishes to them as they make their ways through life, to remember their basis for inner value.

And the left will say – bwahahaha, he can only get booked at a high school what a lozer!!!
That they don’t see their own lack of class in doing so is a bit satisfying.
Good story, Justice Thomas seems like a good man to get to know.

Great story, but somewhat of a shame that those two young men did not know who he was. I suppose the Supreme Court or Thomas’ biography was not a part of their gubmint school curriculum.

I am personally a Longhorn fan, but have always respected the Huskers. Now that they’ve got both Rush and CT on the sideline, I think I have to respect them even more. Great story.

My grandson played football for Texas but I’m a Nebraska alumni and I’m proud to have justice Thomas on the sidelines.

AWESOME!!!

Isn’t it interesting that two black young men-seniors in High School-have no idea who Clarence Thomas is.
BoogPowell on June 3, 2009 at 9:15 AM
Judge Thomas flies coach. You think Sotomayor flies coach now, when she’s an appellate judge?
hawksruleva on June 3, 2009 at 9:20 AM
Pardon – Justice Thomas.
hawksruleva on June 3, 2009 at 9:20 AM
Poetic justice would be for one of those gentlemen to go forward in life to become a Supreme Court Justice and identify Clarence Thomas as thier inspiration.
heshtesh on June 3, 2009 at 9:37 AM
And Katie Couric is bashing Rush and Sarah Palin at her commencement speech.
Difference between a conservative speech and a looney left speech, a WORLD of class..

Besides being a truly decent man, Clarence Thomas has a very inspiring personal story. The story of his humble beginnings is something that the state run media has carefully kept under wraps whenever making reference to him or his accomplishments. It’s instructive how the reverse is true whenever they make reference to Judge Sotomayor.
Small wonder that these young men had no idea who Judge Thomas was when they met him.
cruadin on June 3, 2009 at 10:21 AM
Also want to point at that the story appears to indicate they didn’t recognize Thomas on the plane, not that they were unaware that Clarence Thomas is a Justice. They did realize who he was during the flight- whether he told them I’m not sure.
Not sure I’d recognize somebody I saw in robes in the media if he was wearing street clothes, or believe it was him sitting beside me in coach either.
Cool story.

God Bless Justice Thomas, I read his book over the winter and he is a role model for every boy to look up to. Including me and I’m 30

Justice Thomas = Irreplaceable
Zetterson on June 3, 2009 at 10:52 AM
I think I have a man-crush on Justice Thomas. That dude is wicked sharp with a healthy supply of good sense.
spmat on June 3, 2009 at 10:56 AM
It was my impression from the video that they simply didn’t recognize him, and even though I know who he is and admire him, I often forget what he looks like and would hardly be able to point out every justice in a line up.
I wouldn’t read too much into this.
Beautiful story though.

I really don’t think Obama went to church. He picked Wright’s establishment for political reasons. That’s all. He’s a relativistic humanist.

Intelligence, integrity, charm and outstanding character. Justice Thomas is a great American leader. We have so very people like him. Sad…

So very FEW people like him….

There’s a Percy L. Julian High School in Chicago.
In 1985 when I was a student at the Chicago Academy for the Arts we rented their auditorium for our end of the year showcase. During the show some of our equiptment got stolen.
I can only imagine that it would be worse now.
Thanks for the info on who Percy Julian was.

It is a surreal world we live in, where a man like Clarence Thomas is hated by an entire political spectrum, for the simple reason that he is a black man who does not act black enough. The argument that there is such a thing as a black behavior is racist, and yet the people use levy the charge on Thomas shamelessly cry that everyone is racist but them. Has anyone ever done a study on how much brain damage normal people can get from talking politics with liberals?
