Video: Sacha Baron Cohen drops in on Eminem
posted at 12:05 pm on June 1, 2009 by Allahpundit
A moment for Palin fans to savor as the tough guy who denigrated Sarahcuda in his last video gets a face full of man-ass in front of his teenybopper fan base.
Was he in on it? Judging by his reaction, his crew’s annoyance, and this tweet from Ryan Seacrest, I’m guessing not. Mild content warning.

I agree. He might be tasteless sometimes (well OK, most of the time) but for someone to be able to unflinchingly stay in character for so long and fool so many people (see BORAT) is a rare talent.
Eminem, on the other hand, is a no-talent dirty, unwashed street punk for whom I have zero respect.

abinitioadinfinitum on June 1, 2009 at 1:59 PM
Yeah Eminem will probably go home and beat up his wife and then write a hateful song about his mom.
bluelightbrigade on June 1, 2009 at 2:05 PM
I liked in the article the quote “irreverent awards”
hahahahahahhahahah Couldn’t agree with you more.
Bicyea on June 1, 2009 at 2:07 PM
Why didn’t Eminem put a beat-down on him like Danny Bonaducci did when that freak jumped on him? Now that was some Must Watch TV!!
Bicyea on June 1, 2009 at 2:10 PM
I’ve never been a fan of Cohen, but for this stunt I salute him. Eminem is a dirtbag punk and it’s good to see him taken down a few pegs.
That being said, Cohen is lucky he didn’t get beat up.

hahahaha, Eminem had a face full of man ass.
la.rt.wngr on June 1, 2009 at 2:34 PM
Eminem deserved to be punked.
But the real star of the MTV awards was Megan Fox, followed by
the incredibly cute Vanessa Hudgens. And Paris Hilton, she may be the Bimb’s Bimb, but she does it with style.
Mister Ghost on June 1, 2009 at 2:36 PM
Hayden Panettiere , meanwhile looked like she was hosting Oktoberfest. Kristen Stewart seemed to be on some illegal substance. LOL.
Mister Ghost on June 1, 2009 at 2:41 PM
This doesn’t have the — uh — “whiff of truth” for me. Everything had to be carefully set up to drop him right in Eminem’s seat, and Eminem had plenty of opportunity, right up to the last second, to avoid being landed on in precisely that way.
The walkout looks a little staged to me, too. Just my two cents.
Chuckles3 on June 1, 2009 at 2:59 PM
I can’t help it, I love the douchebag’s first two albums and the 8 Mile one. However, that doesn’t change the fact that seeing the prick get what he deserves, is an immense guilt-free pleasure.
Michelle Dubois on June 1, 2009 at 3:00 PM
Just to belabor the point — if someone were falling down on you like that, wouldn’t your impulse be to put your arms up and block his fall?
Also, though I suppose it was a 50-50 shot, it was obliging of Eminem to turn the horrified expression on his face in the exact direction of the camera.
Chuckles3 on June 1, 2009 at 3:03 PM
His sense of humor is as undeveloped as his sense of music.
TheSitRep on June 1, 2009 at 3:04 PM
I love SBC. This one did my heart good.
capitalist piglet on June 1, 2009 at 3:04 PM
Totally staged.
jlemieu1 on June 1, 2009 at 3:10 PM
Man, you folks sure are gullible. This is an obvious setup..
Even at :44 they do a closeup of …..Eminem, well before the guy dropped perfectly into his face.
Eminem is a terrible actor and proved it throughout this hoax. Although he’s obviously a good businessman, since he’ll get tons of free publicity, yet again. It worked with the Palin comments, video, etc…
Oh well, as long as he had enough idiots following his BS, he’ll keep the cash rolling in.
nottakingsides on June 1, 2009 at 3:12 PM
Definitely staged.
Eminem wouldn’t have just sat there waiting for Cohen to land on him. Plus, it’s a perfect marketing ploy. Eminem with a new album and Cohen with a new movie.
nickj116 on June 1, 2009 at 3:19 PM
Would there have been more shock value if he’d done this to Melissa Etheridge? For that matter, it would have been more taboo if he had done this to any woman. It shows how homosexualized the culture has become that such a stunt can be tolerated and cheered even by folks who call themselves “conservative”.
Buddahpundit on June 1, 2009 at 3:19 PM
You guys who think you are so clever by claiming that this stunt was staged, try to comprehend that the question iss not whether it was staged but whether Eminem was in on the prank. Everybody knows that Bruno staged it. Duh.
The fact that the crane was positioned to drop right on Eminem and that there was a shot of Eminem as Bruno was lowered only shows that the producers of the show were in on it – not that Eminem was in on it. Really, haven’t you guys ever seen Punk’d or the Jamie Kennedy Experiment? Sheesh.
So the one question is whether Eminem had time to move out of the way. Who knows? It came down pretty fast and it might not have been clear to Eminem where Bruno was going to land until he was right on top of him.
IMHO, it doesn’t look like the type of publicity that a tough guy rapper like Eminem would sign up for – and frankly he doesn’t need publicity he has a huge solid fan base.
dKap on June 1, 2009 at 3:31 PM
Ha, funny, very funny in a gross way. . .couldn’t have happened to a better target!
Willie on June 1, 2009 at 3:32 PM
I’m sure all those Iraqis fighting side by side and helping our troops appreciate that sentiment.
As for the video, it was pretty sick but considerng who it happened to… well, that more than makes it ok IMO and does in fact make it funny as well. It wasn’t LOL funny but I got a good chuckle out of it.
Yakko77 on June 1, 2009 at 3:39 PM
Here’s my guess on the staged vs unstaged issue:
SBC set up with Eminem to land next to him or on his lap. Eminem is expecting the Bruno character to do a little lap dance or something cute and gay like that, and Eminem gets to be a cool nonhomophobic guy.
SBC shows Eminem to be a humorless douchenozzle instead.
Rock on, SBC!
(@ nottakingsides on June 1, 2009 at 3:12 PM, re Eminem’s giant piles of cash: no doubt true. But really, who cares? It just means he’s a wealthy douchenozzle.)
Pavel on June 1, 2009 at 3:51 PM
And here I thought both of you were gentlemen. Not nice.
tickleddragon on June 1, 2009 at 4:02 PM
Hilarious!!
Apparently slim shady can only defend himself from dog puppets (he attacked Triumph the insult dog at an awards show).
Eminem may come out now and try to say it was staged after running away like a little Mary, but I don’t think many people will buy it.
I just don’t see many rappers going for the “yea,I would love some nut sack and butt crack in my face on national television!!!”.
Watching the thug wanna be sulk off does nothing but verify that typical smarta$$ punks like him,Bill Maher, and Olberman
sure like to dish this stuff out but are not man enough to take it.

But does MM like fishsticks?
Maquis on June 1, 2009 at 4:43 PM
You know, even though I am a white guy in my 40s, as a musician and lifelong music fan, I try to listen to all new music with an open mind.
Some rap is good. Some is excellent. Most is definitely emotionally charged (as art should be). Eminem is just a wannabe white kid. Nothing wrong with that in and of itself, but his music just sucks. He tries to squeeze too many lyrics into too little space, and it comes across as though he’s just trying to spit out the words too fast.
IMO, he just is not a good artist. But to each his own.
UltimateBob on June 1, 2009 at 4:47 PM
Funny but gross. Loved watching eminem leave in a huff!

absolutely nasty! MTV needs to be ashamed of themselves.
mizflame98 on June 1, 2009 at 7:08 PM
Eminem loses all respect from me for not popping that clown with a right hook to he jaw. Granted Eminem is half of te problem with our culture now a days, but who needs to see crap like that on tv? Firstly its pathetic and inappropriate, and secondly is Cohen not being overly offensive in his portrayl of gays?
eski502 on June 1, 2009 at 7:26 PM
After watching an HBO movie on Winston Churchill, some friends and I switched to some “lighter” fare. We just caught a few minutes of the MTV awards and were talking about narcissism, bad art and the fall of western civilization when this happened. wow. If it had happened to anyone else, I would think this “prank” inexcusably vile. But to eminem? brilliant!
Does that make me a bad person?
metrygirl on June 1, 2009 at 8:02 PM
I think Cohen is an annoying insignificant idiot, and I would no doubt be irritated if he tried to pull this on someone I like, but Eminem is so full of crap that is was sort of fun to see him face to face with, well, a butt.
OneGyT on June 1, 2009 at 8:31 PM
Isn’t Eminem’s negative reaction to having a man’s ass in his face somehow offensive to the Gay Community?
Dr. ZhivBlago on June 2, 2009 at 1:04 AM
I can’t believe I’m even typing this, but(t). . .
Consensus on blogs seems to be that though the stunt was set up with Eminem’s consent, the rear-less pants and mode of landing were a surprise to him, and the angry rxn was real.
This does seem plausible. It would explain why Eminem made no effort to get out of the way until he had a face full of. . . so on and so on. And certainly Cohen makes a specialty of setting up encounters by prior agreement and then surprising his mark.
Chuckles3 on June 2, 2009 at 8:28 AM
Cohen is depraved, and Em should sue the gay out of him.
