Tool who said Fox News is “worse than Al Qaeda”: Hey, let’s “quarantine” Fox News’s hate speech

posted at 9:57 pm on June 1, 2009 by Allahpundit

Yes, by all means let’s shut down the sort of amoral ignoramus who’d compare a news channel to the fiends who perpetrated 9/11; who’d liken American conservatives to jihadists; who’d call the president of the United States a fascist despite the wise counsel of even the leftists in his party; and who’d nod along as every last member of the tax-day tea party was smeared as a racist “redneck.” I said something yesterday on Twitter about how political violence brings out the most magnificent demagogic jackassery on blogs. Well, behold the most magnificent demagogic jackass of them all. A credit to the medium, wouldn’t you say?

I think if we did that to Olberman and all of MSNBC the world would immediately be 10% smarter and 25% quieter

Defector01 on June 1, 2009 at 9:59 PM

I’m sorry, but KO is an ass. I couldn’t make it through the whole segment.

So, if someone had tried to assassinate Bush, would Keith have any regret for calling him a fascist?

therightscoop on June 1, 2009 at 10:00 PM

Little wonder Olberdoof would like to see FOX brought down a few notches; I believe that Fox’s monthly test of the emergency broadcast system gets better ratings than his show.

There’s just nothing left to say…the guy is a rolling, non-stop, train wreck.

There is no vile thing this twit won’t say in pandering to his nutroots base. The fact that he’s also a smarmy looking wretch just completes the picture. Has anybody noticed his gruesome smile…he always looks like he’s taking a huge dump.

Hey, let’s “quarantine” Fox News’s hate speech

Yeah, because there are sooooooooo many other conservative media outlets. Why didn’t he call for HA, Ace, PJM, et. al. to be shut down?

And besides, who watched Olberdouche read his drivel anyway? Surely, he does see the ratings.

I must say, the libtards at DU luv (hugs & kisses) Kayo’s approach. Be forewarned, there are really distasteful comments that no one should repeat. And that is not hate speech?

Seven Percent Solution on June 1, 2009 at 10:13 PM

Tribalism is taking over America, the nation built on individualism. Very, very sad to have dragged into the past by the absolute dregs of society. But, that’s why our Founders abhorred Democracy and only had 1/2 of 1/3 of the federal government open to democratic processes, and without anything approaching universal suffrage, at that.

I hope we learn this lesson and write it into the next Constitution, which will be needed after the US has been driven into a monetary black hole, has tribal warfare break out from the “entitlement” crowd and ceases to exist as a viable entity.

It’s one thing to be nice to the idiots but quite another to allow them to control a nation they neither understand nor appreciate.

progressoverpeace on June 1, 2009 at 10:13 PM

I’m at a loss for who watches and takes KO seriously. He is so over-the-top, accuse others of something he does all the time, cartoonish in his description of his ideological counterparts that part of me thinks it must be some kind of act.

BadgerHawk on June 1, 2009 at 10:13 PM

Bless his heart. I guess Olbermann really believes his nonsense. This would have been a beautiful Onion parody — except that, as real life, it defies parody.

J.E. Dyer on June 1, 2009 at 10:14 PM

It makes business sense to keep him on the air. He outrageous and outlandish comments drive up traffic at NBC. They don’t care about ratings. He says everything the Obama administration likes to hear. And that’s the dangerous part of what is going on. GE (NBC) is so in bed with this administration. NBC needs to keep in good graces with the administration so they can reap the spoils of Obama’s policies (energy and health care).

Immelt doesn’t give 2 craps about Olbermann. Don’t kid yourself. If he did have the balls to censor or suspend Olbermann, the leftist/statist outrage would be, well, minimal initially because nobody watches that sludge. But it would get circulated around the blogs, and the leftists would scream freedom of speech.

Dr.Cwac.Cwac on June 1, 2009 at 10:14 PM

What happens the day they have succeeded in shutting down talk radio, Fox News, and the right wing blogosphere.

What an absolute brainless dumbf*%$. He’s too stupid to realize that he does the exact same thing every single night of his entire career, comparing even President Bush to Hitler on a regular basis.

So if Bush had been attacked, using Olberman’s own logic, it’s Olberman’s fault!

How many liberals run around foaming at the mouth wishing Cheney, Bush, Scooter Libby, Rush and others dead simply because they watch Olberman’s Special Comment and “Worst Person in the World” on a regular basis?

Nah. They are friends with the White House and can do anything they want. If Black Panthers can be caught on tape intimidating people right in front of a poll and then have the charges dropped (even though they weren’t offering a defense) then I think it’s pretty clear that no one taking shots, of any sort, at opponents of The Precedent and his junta have anything to fear. Dear Leader Obama’s songbun system:

The population of Dear Leader Barack Obama’s coming Democratic People’s Republic of America can be roughly divided into three tiers, and ones place in these tiers is called songbun. An individuals songbun is based on ones position at the time of Obama’s ascendancy from questionable circumstances of birth to presidential occupation: party members, largely comprised of the capos of Reid, Pelosi and Kennedy and sub-capos like Black Panthers, ACORN and the UAW are the elite; people who helped to bankrupt the nation while lining their own pockets are at the next level in the hierarchy and often have high positions in congress or are appointed to cabinet positions and other high offices; the final group is comprised of an as yet to be determined number of distinct classes, each with lower songbun then the next. Conservative talk show hosts and bloggers and people who still believe in Ayn Rand’s philosophy of individual rights or in the soon to be outdated U.S. Constitution have the lowest songbun, and consequentially occupy a role analogous to India’s untouchables.

No comment on the actions of Tiller by Olbermann. He acts so self righteous, but he never gave so much as a minute of time to the thousands of viable babies who were killed by Tiller. Viable meaning they could survive outside the mother’s womb if they were given the chance to live rather than killed by Tiller in his office. He performed thousands of such procedures. Where is Keith’s bleeding heart? He screams about the rights of those who have harmed this country, but he doesn’t say a word about all those innocent babies. What was their crime? They just wanted to live. They wanted to be given the same opportunity to make a life for themselves just like every other human being currently walking this earth.

Mr. Olbermann was given the chance to live, but he doesn’t care that millions each year are denied that chance. He’s outraged that gay people don’t have the right to marry, but he won’t say a word about the millions who are denied the right to live. Some talk about equal opportunity. When you’re dead there is no opportunity. Since Roe v. Wade it is estimated that 17 million black babies have been aborted. What kind of person wants to fight for that?

The irony of all of this: If Tiller had been killed 68 years ago in a doctor’s office the media would not give it so much as a minute of coverage.

I agree that comments in a blog aren’t the same as a TV show. And I take your point that you think describing Obama’s policy as fascist is more justified.

However, this is apparently not AP’s position. He seems to indicate quite clearly that calling a President of the USA a fascist is extreme and hate speech. I just note that by AP’s own definition, HA is a hate site.

radiofreevillage on June 1, 2009 at 11:49 PM

For those of you who stuck it out and watched the whole wretched segment, you’ll see that Olberman gets to his point in the last 30 seconds: To get Fox News and its “ilk” off the air. In other words, Tiller is murdered; therefore, censorship is the logical outcome.

This is the same mindset that sees the end of humanity in cow flatulence. This is the group that does not condone “torture” because it goes against our core values, but will gladly stifle the first and second amendments if given the chance.

Olberman’s report was almost a self-parody. He makes gigantic leaps in logic. In his world, there are six degrees of separation from every crime to every Conservative. His hatred of the Right is tedious. I’m sure even the diehards on the Left must find that a little bit of Olberman goes a long way.

Oh, and the real essence behind the Left’s outrage is mostly based on fear. The Olbermans and others of his ilk worry that they’ll be the next target of right-wing assassins. There is no moral outrage to what they say, just a stiff form of cowardice.

He seems to indicate quite clearly that calling a President of the USA a fascist is extreme and hate speech. I just note that by AP’s own definition, HA is a hate site.

Did AP call Obama a fascist? Did Ed Morrissey?

It’s the internet. People say stupid/crazy things.

Funny. I started writing the last paragraph addressing this point but then decided to erase it.

Anyway, it doesn’t matter if they write it. I can judge what they find acceptable by the audience they attract and value to keep. We’re not talking about an isolated comment. We’re talking about many hundreds from a lot of different people.

So killing an abortion doctor makes you a “terrorist”, but trying to blow up an Army Base just makes you a “moron”. Nuance indeed.
