Tool who said Fox News is “worse than Al Qaeda”: Hey, let’s “quarantine” Fox News’s hate speech

posted at 9:57 pm on June 1, 2009 by Allahpundit

Yes, by all means let’s shut down the sort of amoral ignoramus who’d compare a news channel to the fiends who perpetrated 9/11; who’d liken American conservatives to jihadists; who’d call the president of the United States a fascist despite the wise counsel of even the leftists in his party; and who’d nod along as every last member of the tax-day tea party was smeared as a racist “redneck.” I said something yesterday on Twitter about how political violence brings out the most magnificent demagogic jackassery on blogs. Well, behold the most magnificent demagogic jackass of them all. A credit to the medium, wouldn’t you say?

I agree that comments in a blog aren’t the same as a TV show.

I wish they were.

And I take your point that you think describing Obama’s policy as fascist is more justified.

It’s accurate.

However, this is apparently not AP’s position. He seems to indicate quite clearly that calling a President of the USA a fascist is extreme and hate speech.

radiofreevillage on June 1, 2009 at 11:49 PM

Beck had a whole program on Fox about how the US is not moving into socialism or communism, but fascism. He had Thomas Sowell on the other day, and Sowell explained very directly how the current government is fascist. Beck made him say “fascist” twice. And he was right. He defined it simply as ‘government taking control of the means of production, though not owning outright’.

And I think Scare Force One buzzing Manhattan and the unbelievable “date night” they just had, along with the rhetoric threatening eveeryone from individual talk show hosts to members of the last administration to TV channels and personalities … kind of fills in the rest of the picture.

progressoverpeace on June 2, 2009 at 12:08 AM

Anyway, it doesn’t matter if they write it. I can judge what they find acceptable by the audience they attract and value to keep. We’re not talking about an isolated comment. We’re talking about many hundreds from a lot of different people.

You can ask AP to poll people to find out how many want to associate with my views. Or you can imagine a thread beginning with “Obama is a fascist” and then come up with your own estimate of the percentage of people who will say “Hey, I don’t like Obama myself, but fascist? This is over the top.”

radiofreevillage on June 2, 2009 at 12:17 AM

Typical left wing hate. They hate Fox News and hate conservative Christians. The left led by Keith the lier Olbermann will exploit this murder for there own agenda to destroy us. Do not blame the real person who did it, a murdering lune, but blame everybody else. In the left’s mind he was not smart enough, nor capable of doing this on his own. So the left find people or groups they hate and blame it on them. Olbermann you are a disgrace. We Conservative Christians believe in a commandment that we FOLLOW. Shalt not kill. Olbermann does not understand this.

This is quite beyond banks. They just gave you a big, fat signal as they raised the CAFE standards in the face of a crumbling auto industry, just as they took control and pumped a whole sh!tload of cash into the unions through GM. I thought that was a little brazen, myself.

Olbermann would look right at home in a Nazi SS uniform as commandant of a death camp for Conservatives. Just sayin’…

infidel4life on June 2, 2009 at 1:42 AM

Well Olbermann does sound like a Nazi name, but i think of Olbermann more like the French soldiers who the Americans had to save because they put their tales between their legs when the Germans showed up.

lavell12 on June 2, 2009 at 1:43 AM

fascim is a socialist form of government, having nothing at all to do with the prior bush administration, or the right, but instead something similar to social democrat/liberal ideology which is occurring – right now. i find it so ironic that olbermann would accuse bush of fascism on a regular basis, but be firmly/totally in support of the obama administration as we all witness fascism taking place at GM, right before our eyes.

i also find it ironic that liberals would throw around such terminology as fascist and nazi and neocon to describe the right, or more specifically, gw bush… when in fact, fascism is government control of production as a form of socialism. NAZI is, in fact, an abbreviation for NAtional SOcialist party (in german). and Neocon was actually a term for democrats who rejected the socialists leanings of other democrats in the early 20th century. they were the “new” conservatives.

it’s all in wikipedia, or any historical references you care to look up… but i guess they don’t teach this in universities anymore… now, even in wiki, it seems neocon has taken on a whole new, twisted definition apart from the original. but i think it’s important not to forget where it comes from.

people just can’t seem to wrap their brains around the reality that thier liberal ideology takes us closer to the ills that they abhor and claim the right are guilty of.

we’re losing our freedoms. we’re losing our national security. we’re losing our currency. we’re losing our prosperity. we’re losing our way… and all the while, keith olbermann can only circle himself around his obsessions with his demons on the right.

wow.

i wonder if he even thought about reporting the news on any part of this story before he began crafting his alinsky inspired attack on bill o’reilly. i’m sure he never once bothered to seek facts or report any news on the subject.

in a way, i wish he could read this to discover that his ideology actually makes him more akin to fascism than bush… if he bothered to do the research. i’d love to see his reaction when he realized this. now that would be hilarious.

thedude on June 2, 2009 at 1:53 AM

Fascism:
a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism.

Obama isn’t a fascist -yet- but he desperately wants to be and is moving as fast as possible in that direction, so might as well call him fascist based on his wants…which are derived by his actions, not telepathy doh.

We need to stand up and say we’re Americans, and we have the right to debate and disagree with any administration.” However, when the statist party is in power they like to say “Watch out how you criticize this one or that one ” Fascism? You decide, but I will tell you one thing when Pravda is saying “Marxism is happening with breathtaking speed, against the backdrop of a passive hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I mean people,” we are in serious trouble. Pravda? Really? Pravda is calling us Marxists? What’s next?

Chicago’s budget is $7.5 billion. The Federal government’s is proposed to be $3.6 trillion. So, you take the Chicago style, magnify it almost 500 times, run by a self-absorbed imbecile who is motivated by a desire to exact revenge, and that’s what we’ve got. It ain’t pretty.

BTW, while I was looking some stuff up, I found this document, “Inheriting a Legacy of Misplaced Priorities“, on one of the official budget pages. Is that too much, or what?

I kind of hope Olby keeps his rant against those who incite murderous hatred going and extends it to all those imams out there spewing anti-infidel hatred in light of events in Arkansas. I’m sure someone of his well established patriotism will be as moved to sympathy for those poor soldiers as he was for the noted partial birth abortionist. I fully expect that on this evening’s program he will be as completely scathing in his denunciation of the purveyors of the “Religion of Peace” who have inspired about 15000 murderous acts since 9/11, as he always has been in the past. At least I’m sure he has been since I never watch him myself. I’ve been unemployed for quite a while and I’m in no financial shape to keep replacing broken TVs.

I’m not sure how Olby says with a straight face, “network news.” It’s network commentary. Actually, it is network liberal commentary. You see Keith, when you present one side of an issue, over and over and over and over again, that’s called one sided. And it’s cowardly – but I guess it’s OK as long as you can make a living doing it. Fox doesn’t do that, you do. Quarantine Fox news? You have quarantined yourself from the real world for a couple of years now, and with pay raises and dismal ratings, there you sit – talking to yourself.
Fox didn’t kill Tiller. A criminal killed Tiller.
Do you or your network take any responsibility for any of the deaths of service members that some “reporting” you did actually put soldiers lives at risk? I’m guessing not so much.

Olbermann’s view with the movies Vendetta and “Death of a President” were Lefty hits.

Not a fascist, Bush encouraged citizens to blog, and never infringed on free speech, and did not antagonize the obnoxious protesters camped outside his private ranch.

Contrast 2009 entered stage left: Obama the blatant Marxist threatening everyone with authoritarian abuse of powers to impede free speech and press false charges smearing and prosecuting citizen political opponents.

If he was indeed a right-winger, was Tiller then of the far left? Odd, since his infanticidal medical practice was most reminiscent of Germany during the Nazi era. And our far left defended Tiller vehemently.

Did the assassin favour smaller government, lower taxes, personal and economic liberty? The Bill of Rights?

If Tiller himself was “far right”, then why was the far left, the Democratic Party specifically, so protective of him?
