New GM ad: Are you ready for government-made crapboxes?

posted at 7:45 pm on June 1, 2009 by Allahpundit

Via RCP. What’s a proud American’s patriotic duty when it comes to helping GM rebound? We’re all owners now; a successful rebirth would doubtless be great for the economy. And yet I find myself feeling … resentful. Could it be because the company’s a black hole for taxpayer money? Could it be because the feds are hopelessly conflicted about how to manage it, from using it as a platform for their green religion to favoring it over companies like Ford that didn’t take bailout cash? Could it be because we’re barely into the age of state ownership of automakers and the evidence is already mounting that Obama’s acting like a partisan jackass? Or could it be because Gibbs is unable to answer a straightforward question about when, precisely, the government plans to return the company to private ownership?

Verdict: If I had to buy tomorrow, I’d buy Ford. What fiscal conservative wouldn’t?

Government Motors can shove it. They should have made some of these changes 30 or 40 years ago when the German and Japanese companies were nipping at their heels. Now that GM has been completely devoured by the competition and has wasted billions in taxpayer dollars, it’s way past time to turn things around.

Basically, I paid for a car that I never got from them. If they think I’d ever pay them again for another inferior product they can kiss my lily white a$$.

I’ll stick with my Mitsubishi for now. My previous two cars were Fords, and if I ever was going to buy another American-made vehicle, it would be a Ford. Not that they’re that great, but they deserve my support for standing on principle.

Lord willing, my next car will be a Ford. Government has only demonstrated that it produces worse products and services than a competitive market but with enough power it is capable of unfairly tilting the balances in favor of the sloths.

I’m afraid that in the future I may have no choice but to purchase (or be given) an unsafe, inefficient, unreliable, cult supporting(Mother Gaia), tiny and uncool vehicle.

Two questions.

1. Since Americans will be working to pay for this “purchase” through their taxes, will they receive the employee discount if they buy one of their products?

2. Is it true that the new Chev will be named the Trabant?

I love my Jeep, but if I were buying tomorrow I’d also buy Ford, or go import.

Hmm…”Leaner, greener, smarter, faster”? I don’t expect “faster” is going to be part of the equation.

He’s re-featured it on his own site, and it’s as prophetic as ever. Here comes the Pelosi GTxi SS/RT Sport Edition!

No, the Obamobile.

I’m going with the Chevy Voltswagen, myself — even if it’s not the sporty version.

DO NOT BUY GM OR CHRYSLER. This is a free market society. Snuggling up to President Ochavez is the kiss of death for any enterprise.

Actually they should call them automobiles/coffins and just bury you in it rather than waste all the resources it’ll take to get you out of one of these tin cans.

Toyota.

Built *IN AMERICA* by *AMERICANS*.

The best news about this facade is GM has been delisted from the DOW.

Thats all the financial info you need to know.

This so-called “smaller, leaner company” still has major overhead, pension, manufacturing and brand issues – which all lead to a horrid balance sheet. BVeing smaller doesnt negate or make the issues go away – in fact, it compunds false hope over a dismal, though lengthy, slow corporate death.

And Bambi can keep handing out more bailout money – while never cutting out the “cancer” in the body of GM. All in all – bond ratings continue to dive, stock will continue getting killed and the useless GM exec’s and UAW “team” will cannibalize themselves to the death.

If Bambi thinks Americans are “deeply concerned” about a major company going bankrupt – I got a mortgage to pay…
