Really, all I remember of middle school is the hormone-laced kids doing their best to make vulgar jokes and flirt with the opposite sex. Or maybe that was just me? I sure can’t remember much in the way of academics.

Better to be cruel to the kids at that age than to let them grow up thinking they can succeed if only they dream big or something, only to have reality come crashing down on them sooner or later.

I did have a pleasant moment of indoctrination last week, when a student asked me if landfill pollution was going to destroy the Earth (aka create a crack in the surface that would make the planet explode). “That’s what my mom said,” she told me.

Another thing I’ve noticed amongst younger people such as my nephew and nieces is how ignorant they are of economics.

I’m from CA. The libs I know in fact have beliefs that ARE in conflict with capitalism from varying degrees of governement control and/or ownership.

Ask them any question on economics or politics related to capitalism on one extreme and socialism on the other, and they always come down on the socialist side.

If fact, due to the large number of libs in CA, this is the primary driver in their current problems of high taxation, high government spending, high government regulation, the desire to have it all but free.

Once you explain it to them, they simply cannot get themselves up for being all that excited about capitalism, but they are excited about the federal government taking over healthcare.

Libs who believe in capitalism really are not liberals in the modern use of the word when it comes to economic issues.

Everyone wins but the democrats… these are the sorts of issue the reps should focus on.

Not only would it give them traction on a key domestic issue, the fact that the school’s run by and for minorities would give them a shot of credibility with black and Latino voters. How about it, boys?

You hilarious douchebag. The entire public school system, from pre-school to graduate school, is run and staffed by liberal Democrats. Belief in “Capitalism and hard work” is non-existant in those schools, along with education testing achievement that beats third-world schools.

Once again, to be a liberal is to live in denial of reality.

As for the U.S. system, I can only look forward to the day when the Teachers’ Unions lose their grip on “education.” Dare to dream!

In the meantime, I was a product of a private/Christian school system, and even though my wife wasn’t, she’s on board with the private system if we have kids someday. For that I’m thankful.

Rubber rooms? Are you contending that this is a widespread phenomena? Our education has declined because the Left has taken over education. But I really find it kind of shocking that you are so discouraged that you scorn liberty as something which turns children into “animals in heat”.

And I’m disturbed that so many of you are enthralled by the concept of this “Indian School” (which is supposed to be so politically incorrect yet has an ethnic identity). You are eager to put children through a severe regimen, but I doubt most of you ever endured anything nearly this rigid.

The fact is that the Left does not emphasize the individual or liberty – on the contrary they are totalitarians who emphasize the collective, an authoritarian view where everyone has to conform to a set of Statist ideas for the “greater good”. Claiming to promote “self-esteem” is an entirely different matter.

I’ve already distinguished between Asian-Americans whose culture helps them excel in this country, and Asians who have to endure the Asian education system.

American education has declined since the sixties, but if was darn good before the Left took over and can be great again. I don’t see why we have to emulate other countries whose cultures are entirely different from our own. Up until now, this country has been the greatest nation ever, and that is not because we have been a nation of crammers with no “games” in P.E. and mandatory summer school.

Because it is an easy way to go abroad…Because it is a good way to escape from the parents for a while…
