No, reflexive means that the verb has both a subject and an object, which refers (“reflects”) back to the subject. Unlike a linking (some say “copular”) verb, which equates a subject with a predicate nominative, a reflexive verb indicates some thing the subject does to itself.

President Clinton perjured himself.
President Bush may have misunderestimated himself.
President Obama thinks rather highly of himself.
President Ahmadinejad does think himself to be the Mahdi, but may think he will immanentize the latter’s return.

Reflexives bring up another peeve of mine. It is gramatically incorrect to use a reflexive pronoun (one with “self” or “selves” in it) as the subject of a sentence

Either one of my staff will get back to you on that, or I will do it (by) myself, if the committee meeting is over in time.

You make a point that regards years the organizations have existed, influencing statistics.

But perhaps you haven’t yet read Jonah Goldberg’s Liberal Fascism that contextualizes 20th century KKK, not as an apologist, but references its existence within urban America rather than only the rural where the stereotypical worst occurred.

Tancredo prefaced what he said well enough for anyone willing to listen. When making a comparison for the public to consider, one must use familiar language. And when making a comparison about anything, a comparison is not the same thing as stating a superposable EQUIVALENCE.

Regarding comparisons, there are always shades of similarities and differences. The INDIVIDUAL receptive to thought makes his own distinctions according to his “rich” life experience. Dictating which collection of words are politically correct is fabricating talking points for propaganda, which is fine so long as those PC police admit what they are doing up front, “free speech”. That statement does not apply to whole cloth fabrications when a deceitful propagandist goes so far as to put words in another’s mouth in order to deface the opponent with false charges.

Tancredo is stalwart. I always admire a person willing to put it out for everyone to discuss. No one is perfect, and that applies more so to the elitists who claim to be superior in comprehension, ready to enforce politically correct fascism, than to the common man who knows reality staring him in the face.

The similarities between La Raza and the KKK are there, as are the differences. The same comparison would apply to the KKK and NAZI organizations, with proportional differentiations as well.

Michael Savage made a clear enough point, that though Sotomayor SHOULD abdicate her La Raza membership just as Obama departed from Rev. Wright’s congregation, it would be empty show. Sotomayor remains who she is, with her biases entrenched, immovable in her self righteous zealotry. But evidently, the subsequent people Obama will nominate are even worse than Sotomayor who had the sense to admit her prejudices up front. At least we know who she is, thanks to Sotomayor’s outspoken judicial activity.

Just as Sotomayor has been up front, so should those questioning her at this point. Tancredo is doing his best, and his efforts will educate a lot of people who DON’T know what La Raza is or isn’t, but certainly have heard of the KKK, to find out what’s going on now. There is the responsibility to exchange ideas and information in order to educate the ignorant, and beginning with a generalization is best with undeveloped minds. Name the beast. (Thank you, Tancredo.) THEN proceed on with scientific dissection to explicate all details. But in subsequent argument, is every detail applicable to the present circumstance in an altering fashion? More often than not, only by coercion, to make the difference more significant than the similarity.

The word “is” (the present-tense, third-person singular form of “be”) is what grammarians call a “linking verb”. It does not take a direct object, but a “predicate nominative”. Therefore, in the form “A is B”, both A and B should be in nominative case (“I” rather than “me”). Furthermore, when listing two or more nouns/pronouns joined by “and” or “or”, the preferred order is second person, third person, first person.

Lorien is therefore absolutely correct to say that the preferred way to express your thought is “HotAir.com is Ed, Michelle and I.” (although I might have named Michelle first, since she’s the owner of the site).

However, the phrasing “It is I” is seen as uncool, so people are accustomed to “it is me” (or more likely “it’s me”), to the point where the gramatically correct form now seems strange.

But the point that you and Ed seem to be arguing is even more nitpicky than what we Grammar Nazis are saying.

Ed has declared that “post” refers to what you, he, Michelle, the Green Room contributors and the occasional guest bloggers do when you create a new article. I say that the word “post” refers both to the articles you post, and to the comments the rest of us post in response. I have lost track of the times I’ve seen commenters on blogs refer to another comment with “nice post”, “great post”, etc. Even today, when complaining about BoR on TEMS, Ed used the word “post” to describe commenting on a web site.

You need to stop trying to restrictively define “post” to only mean what you do at the top of the page, and instead attack O’Reilly for using ambiguous language that fails to make the distinction between the views expressed by HotAir.com staff and those expressed by mere commenters. What Bill did was sloppy, and even misleading, but it wasn’t an inaccurate use of the term “post”.

Oh I get it, you guys suddenly hate LGF and Charles because he called out the Nirthers…hmmm, so predictable you all are.
