Video: David Shuster tries, fails to conceal his absolute disdain for Tancredo

posted at 7:00 pm on May 29, 2009 by Allahpundit

No no, I kid. He doesn’t try at all. Watching this, I’m reminded how much he benefits from being on the same network as Olby. Anywhere else, he’d be notorious as the most shameless lefty hack in the stable. On MSNBC, he’s practically a straight newsman.

It’s a long clip, but stick with it until the end or you’ll miss Tanc’s musings on “moderate Republicans.” Both he and Shuster are at their worst here, the latter in his sneering contempt and unwillingness to let Tancredo finish a thought and the former in — well, you’ll see.

La Raza is more like the Aryan Nation than the KKK.

Tancredo should celebrate that.

profitsbeard on May 30, 2009 at 12:21 AM

Schuster is such a hack.

I just wish people like him would come out and endorse obama and say they will push for everything he wants to do.

Then at least we wouldn’t be beating around the bush anymore.

TTheoLogan on May 30, 2009 at 1:14 AM

Well at least i don’t try to hide my distain for David Shuster.

……………. no, “comunidad” means “Community” in Spanish, “La Raza” means “The Race”.

…………. Idiot!

Seven Percent Solution on May 30, 2009 at 4:38 AM

Did anyone from The Race call someone a white dumb-ass cracker and karate chop them in the head in earshot of the Secret Service on a DC street?

AprilOrit on May 29, 2009 at 9:10 PM

Not sure, but they apparently gave an award to a man who called for the extermination of gringos.

At least he didn’t call them crackers.

That woulda been racist.

Steve MG

You make a point that regards years the organizations have existed, influencing statistics.

But perhaps you haven’t yet read Jonah Goldberg’s Liberal Fascism that contextualizes 20th century KKK, not as an apologist, but references its existence within urban America rather than only the rural where the stereotypical worst occurred.

Morons need not infer that I sympathize with the KKK. My ancestral families fought its attempts to coop our communities in the Great Southwest.

Tancredo prefaced what he said well enough for anyone willing to listen. When making a comparison for the public to consider, one must use familiar language. And when making a comparison about anything, a comparison is not the same thing as stating a superposable EQUIVALENCE.

Regarding comparisons, there are always shades of similarities and differences. The INDIVIDUAL receptive to thought makes his own distinctions according to his “rich” life experience. Dictating which collection of words are politically correct is fabricating talking points for propaganda, which is fine so long as those PC police admit what they are doing up front, “free speech”. That statement does not apply to whole cloth fabrications when a deceitful propagandist goes so far as to put words in another’s mouth in order to deface the opponent with false charges.

Tancredo is stalwart. I always admire a person willing to put it out for everyone to discuss. No one is perfect, and that applies more so to the elitists who claim to be superior in comprehension, ready to enforce politically correct fascism, than to the common man who knows reality staring him in the face.

The similarities between La Raza and the KKK are there, as are the differences. The same comparison would apply to the KKK and NAZI organizations, with proportional differentiations as well.

Michael Savage made a clear enough point, that though Sotomayor SHOULD abdicate her La Raza membership just as Obama departed from Rev. Wright’s congregation, it would be empty show. Sotomayor remains who she is, with her biases entrenched, immovable in her self righteous zealotry. But evidently, the subsequent people Obama will nominate are even worse than Sotomayor who had the sense to admit her prejudices up front. At least we know who she is, thanks to Sotomayor’s outspoken judicial activity.

Just as Sotomayor has been up front, so should those questioning her at this point. Tancredo is doing his best, and his efforts will educate a lot of people who DON’T know what La Raza is or isn’t, but certainly have heard of the KKK, to find out what’s going on now. There is the responsibility to exchange ideas and information in order to educate the ignorant, and beginning with a generalization is best with undeveloped minds. Name the beast. (Thank you, Tancredo.) THEN proceed on with scientific dissection to explicate all details. But in subsequent argument, is every detail applicable to the present circumstance in an altering fashion? More often than not, only by coercion, to make the difference more significant than the similarity.

Reflexive is linking?

maverick muse on May 30, 2009 at 6:45 AM

No, reflexive means that the verb has both a subject and an object, which refers (“reflects”) back to the subject. Unlike a linking (some say “copular”) verb, which equates a subject with a predicate nominative, a reflexive verb indicates some thing the subject does to itself.

President Clinton perjured himself.
President Bush may have misunderestimated himself.
President Obama thinks rather highly of himself.
President Ahmadinejad does think himself to be the Mahdi, but may think he will immanentize the latter’s return.

Reflexives bring up another peeve of mine. It is gramatically incorrect to use a reflexive pronoun (one with “self” or “selves” in it) as the subject of a sentence

Either myself or one of my staff will get back to you on that.
Either one of my staff or I will get back to you on that.
Either one of my staff will get back to you on that, or I will do it (by) myself, if the committee meeting is over in time.

Recall Austin Powers

Please allow myself to introduce… myself.

as a memory aid to how using “myself” without first using “I” can sound simultaneously pretentious and stupid.

The Monster on May 30, 2009 at 9:11 AM

Lady La Raza was not properly vetted and now she needs an exit strategy since she is in a quagmire. Obama will outsource the job in an unsustainable way which will cause climate change unilaterally without UN approval and will no doubt create more terrorists while disenfranchising voters by not counting all the carbon neutral votes which allowed Bush to steal the election and swift boat a man who served in Nam and earned a purple heart while Bush was doing cocaine.

That was my imitation of a libtard.

Geochelone on May 30, 2009 at 9:57 AM

So where was Tancredo at his worst?

Aside from his usual problem of putting his arguments into more biting and concise terms, I thought he was dead-on.

I think he’s correct (especially on the moderate republican angle). He just has a tendency to whiff while swinging a BIG BAT.

He struck a nerve with his La Raza = KKK comments and he needs to be hitting the nail more squarely.

Barrack on May 30, 2009 at 11:00 AM

Molinari is a coward for not backing up Tancredo. I guess her la Raza standing was more important, since she sees which way the wind is blowing. Go Tancredo.

Furthermore, on whether the Obama administration hates white people, Shuster should ask Jeremiah Wright?

Western_Civ on May 30, 2009 at 11:43 AM

MSNBC? Sorry, don’t really care what they have on their so-called channel.

n0doz on May 30, 2009 at 4:18 PM

David Shuster. Obama may or may not hate white people.

Who cares, Who knows. But, This white person is coming
very close to hating some white MSNBC people.

Your libs are creating a real mess with this
blame whitey crap. It will backfire.

Please O’Reilly, pick this one for you next Hot Air snotty comment.

Allahpundit tries, fails to conceal his absolute disdain for Tancredo

There’s another accurate headline for you.

Anyway, Good for Tancredo for holding his ground and speaking honestly about this when no one else seems willing to.

2Brave2Bscared on May 30, 2009 at 10:06 PM

So where was Tancredo at his worst?

There was nothing wrong with anything he said. Indeed, as you pointed out, he was dead-on. But you need to understand that Allahpundit doesn’t like Tancredo any more than Shuster does.

2Brave2Bscared on May 30, 2009 at 10:09 PM

But you need to understand that Allahpundit doesn’t like Tancredo any more than Shuster does.

That should read, “Allahpundit likes Tancredo about as much as Shuster does.”
