Aw: Obama takes NBC News out for burgers

posted at 5:51 pm on May 29, 2009 by Allahpundit

And like any good gentleman out on a date with someone who loves him, he paid. Just a spur-of-the-moment thing, mind you, befitting the regular guy that he is; the fact that this happened on the very day NBC is following him around for its “day in the life of the president” documentary is a complete coincidence.

I was a little worried we wouldn’t find out what he ordered, but fear not. Norah comes through at the end.

I think the person who took his order was a wise Latina woman.

Cicero43 on May 29, 2009 at 6:52 PM

LMAO!!!!….

The Ugly American on May 29, 2009 at 7:24 PM

I wish Norah would’ve asked if Brian Williams kisses on a first date, but I think we already know the answer.

simon on May 29, 2009 at 7:24 PM

Hamburgers? No $100 steaks or lavish parties?

Well, it’s not as if he needs to buy the media over to the Democrats by giving ‘em the Arlen Spector treatment, I imagine.

whatcat on May 29, 2009 at 7:25 PM

Shouldn’t Chairman Zero be setting the example for us mere mortals by eating salads and tofu,

spectreman: Are you kidding? Obama had heard that Michelle had beets on the menu today, and well all know how he feels about those. (You know, the important things about the cool cipher.)

onlineanalyst on May 29, 2009 at 7:26 PM

When the media is around, he’ll never need extra mayo, that’s for sure!

lorien1973 on May 29, 2009 at 7:32 PM

Hasn’t he been listening to one of his most devoted group of supporters, the earth worshippers? Hamburgers are supposedly one of the most environmentally damaging foods a person can eat. Geez, one would think he’d know this stuff.

jtoms3 on May 29, 2009 at 7:34 PM

He didn’t pay for it, we did.

joshlbetts on May 29, 2009 at 7:42 PM

I don’t know how these people sleep at night. They’re like a kid on Christmas morning with this stuff. Barf.

My real issue, though? How many thousands in extra tax dollars (added security, vehicles, gas etc.) does this stuff cost us?

Oh, and by the way, isn’t he Mr. Green Jobs? Green this and green that…. Then why the f is he DRIVING (undoubtedly SUVs) to get food, when they will make him anything he wants at the WH. Screw that “he doesn’t like the WH burgers” nonsense, they will certainly adjust to his liking. Or how about this, we send some low level staffer who no one knows and doesn’t need security to drive their Prius down and pick the food up and bring it back?

Mid-atlantic/Northeast: Five Guys

West: In ‘n’ Out

South: Steak ‘n’ Shake

Midwest: White Castle

Canada: Harvey’s

Midsouth: Backyard Burgers

YYZ on May 29, 2009 at 7:20 PM

I have lived all over and you cannot justify White Castle as the Midwest representative. At least put Culvers in as an alternate..
Mmm..butter burger…drools..

BakerAllie on May 29, 2009 at 7:53 PM

Wouldn’t it have been more appropriate for Obambi to take his little sycophants to Chuck E. Cheese’s? Come on kiddies.

Jeff on May 29, 2009 at 8:05 PM

After that they went to Toys R Us.

FontanaConservative on May 29, 2009 at 8:08 PM

The interesting part of the burger story….

http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0509/In_which_the_president_discovers_an_American_intelligence_agency_at_Five_Guys.html

O should be getting burgers at the Whitehouse and be pouring over those Satellite Images of N Korea instead of going out to eat with the press which with security must take half the day to go from A-B-A. He just had a nice dinner in Vegas didn’t he? Should be having salad for a week.

Damn, you beat me to it… Obambi, showing his cluelessness and learning about our intelligence while getting burgers with NBC. Pathetic, as always.

No truth to the rumor he said “I would have known about the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, but I left TOTUS at home”

RightWinged on May 29, 2009 at 8:30 PM

They could make or break him,…
Demand a porterhouse!

christene on May 29, 2009 at 9:34 PM

Does this jackass work? He takes the press out to lunch, he does fundraisers everywhere but in DC and he gives press conferences (with a teleprompter, so he’s obviously not preparing for them). I want to be President.

JackofNoTrades on May 29, 2009 at 9:45 PM

Giving this to NBC instead of their cable news operation is probably going to cause problems in the D.C. bureau, because Chris Matthews has been wanting Obama’s meat for the past two years.

Wonder how many of those grinning Ladies behind the counter are happy about sharing the wealth out of their minimum wage earnings?

Dr. ZhivBlago on May 29, 2009 at 11:16 PM

What I’d really like right now is a Dick’s Deluxe and cheese burger from Lake City, Seattle. With fries.

Went there yesterday. Don’t forget the chocolate shake.

Fed45 on May 30, 2009 at 2:29 AM

You are surprised he paid? The government always foots the bill comrade. All you need to do is worship the ground around him.

ericdijon on May 30, 2009 at 8:13 AM

If Bush were having side trips to burger joints while NK and “Pock i stan” were crumbling the press would be in blood in water mode against him. The interesting thing, (given the satellite imagery comment) is that Obama met someone from the Defense satellite imagery department (though Obama didn’t know what that was). Had Obama had a clue, they might have had a more interesting meet and greet.

eaglewingz08 on May 30, 2009 at 11:02 AM

According to “Mike”, NBC has a “crack team” covering Obama in the basement of the old executive office building.

Sometimes the joke write themselves.

OxyCon on May 30, 2009 at 11:43 AM

Boycott General Electric until Jeff Immelt is fired.

NBC’s Jeff Immelt stands to gain big time on his global warming and other business connections with Obama’s new world order. The Obama/NBC connection is very real.

I have never understood why conservative business people don’t buy enough GE stock to fire Immelt and Zucker, and rid TV Land of the likes of Olbermann, Matthews, Williams, etc. For crying out loud: you can’t even watch an NFL football game without having to listen to that most despicable POS, Keith Olbermann.

Same thing with Hollywood. There’s enormous opportunity for businesses to start making movies that promote American virtues, and don’t slam American patriots, corporations, and traditions at every possible turn. Americans want to see patriotic and entertaining movies. What do they get instead? Anti-American movies about American war crimes in Iraq, movies that make the oil companies out to be evil corporations, etc. Where are the movies about the heroic Americans dying every day in Iraq and Afghanistan? Where have you gone Audie Murphy?

This war with socialism is being fought primarily in the media, and, with the exception of Rupert Murdoch, where are the capitalists that are trying to win?
