Video: Reporter learns what happens when you’re not in the tank for Obama

posted at 6:07 pm on May 28, 2009 by Allahpundit

Can’t blame Team Barry for overreacting here: They’ve never encountered a hostile journalist before. This is a silly palate cleanser being overhyped by Drudge, especially considering the reporter’s the only source for what happened, but a good “dissent crushed” story is a good “dissent crushed” story, after all.

Lee said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press that she wanted to hand Obama a letter urging him “to take a stand for traditional marriage.”

She said she asked a Secret Service agent to give the president her letter, but he refused and referred her to a White House staffer. Lee said she refused to give the staffer the letter.

“I said, ‘I’ll take my chances if (the president) comes by here,’” said Lee, who identified herself as a Roman Catholic priestess who lives in Anaheim, Calif. “He became annoyed that I wouldn’t give him the letter.”

Lee, who was wearing what she described as a cassock, said she protested when she was asked to leave…

Two officers then picked her up and carried her out. An Associated Press photographer photographed the incident.

“I was afraid you could see under my clothes,” she said, her voice choking up.

I don’t see why she wasn’t allowed to stay. She was in the press area and properly credentialed. Bet on a conciliatory phone call from The One tomorrow; it worked when he called that reporter “Sweetie” during the campaign, didn’t it? Exit question: What’s odder, the fact that this woman thinks she’s a Catholic “priestess” or the fact that she thinks Obama’s going to take a stand against gay marriage? Click the image to watch.

And if this had been under Bush for the SAME CIRCUMSTANCES, it’d be all over the MSM as an attack on her rights.

Hahaha

This was a good palate cleanser.

Who do you side with? The crazy lady that clearly could have been a security risk or the greatest security risk the United States has ever seen.

When are Obama and wifey going to go on Springer?

Upstater85 on May 28, 2009 at 6:17 PM

I don’t know about the rest of yall, but looking under her clothes is the furtherest thing from my mind.

1sttofight on May 28, 2009 at 6:19 PM

Funny, she must be Scottish also, all the priests I know wear pants under their cassocks. Looney.

opiemuyo on May 28, 2009 at 6:20 PM

Priestess? She’s gotta be nuts.

AbaddonsReign on May 28, 2009 at 6:20 PM

Obviously this woman didn’t watch the Notre Dame commencement speech. The national conversations only take place when Obama wants them too.

portlandon on May 28, 2009 at 6:20 PM

It took 3 big guys to pick her up.

faraway on May 28, 2009 at 6:21 PM

Obama, she just wanted you to go to her church. She figured that if you went to Rev. Wright’s you’d have no problem with hers…

Upstater85 on May 28, 2009 at 6:21 PM

Roman Catholic priestess

mmmkay – so is that a regular priestess or high priestess?

liquidflorian on May 28, 2009 at 6:25 PM

At least she wasn’t a radical leftist targeting Ford Obama.

Upstater85 on May 28, 2009 at 6:26 PM

I don’t think it’s appropriate for a credentialed reporter to abuse her access to lobby the president, even if I agree with her cause. Reporter are supposed to be objective observers. I realize by this standard nearly every member of the White House press corps should be de-credentialed, but her conduct clearly crossed the line.

Reminds me of a time my friend got us passes to the Braves’ press box through the campus radio station. You weren’t supposed to cheer or else you’d get tossed. Same concept.

CNH_320 on May 28, 2009 at 6:27 PM

One of the Obambie clan. send her back to her country.

seven on May 28, 2009 at 6:28 PM

I wonder when the left is going to pin this on Bush? Alan Colmes???

“If Bush had never Pandered to Brenda by letting her give him notes, and had instead forcibly treated her crazy religiousity, this would have all been avoided…”

the letter could have been soaked in poison/LSD/whatever. I am sure that is secret service protocol, not Team Barry crushing dissent.

Under the Obama Doctrine, a stern letter is the most forceful and severe action you take against an enemy. No wonder they drug her away.

Still, the First Amendment gives us freedom of speech and religion. They should have let her give the Messiah her letter.

She said she asked a Secret Service agent to give the president her letter, but he refused and referred her to a White House staffer. Lee said she refused to give the staffer the letter.

It was her gas bill. She thought Obama was going to pay it for her.

WisCon on May 28, 2009 at 7:24 PM

I just hope Kim Jong Il and Ahmadinejad see this and realize what Obama could have done to them if they don’t behave themselves . . .

Brenda Lee?

I have always loved her 1960 hit “I’m Sorry.”

slp on May 28, 2009 at 7:33 PM

A secret service agent acted according to the protocol. The letter was not refused. They even directed her to the staffer who could get the letter.

When Dubbya was in office, random people could personally deliver any correspondence to the President, of course.

I start thinking Obama is really perfect. I mean, when this kinda garbage is the only thing that AP can collect on him, what else am I supposed to think?

However, remember WIDDI. If you want to lift this up as Obama refusing to commune with “the people…”

Carry on.

“A credentialed reporter from a small Georgia newspaper was dragged, kicking and screaming from Air Force One this afternoon. The woman, identified as Brenda Lee, said she wanted to give President Obama a letter before he departed from Los Angeles”.

I have to side with the security personnel on this one.

Credentialed reporter or not she wasn’t following basic rules and instructions, the POTUSA security personnel if they are going to error it will be on the side of the POTUSA.

It may not be fair but it is what it is.

Must have gotten the outfit from last Halloween (or worse)- that she did go to a Catholic supply store and bought an original.

“Padre Cutié” had his press conference quitting the Catholic church to become Episcopal and marry. If he would have known there was a priestess there, he would have done a 360./sarc
