Tancredo: Sotomayor’s a member of the “Latino KKK”
posted at 10:09 pm on May 28, 2009 by Allahpundit

The “Latino KKK” in this case meaning the National Council of La Raza, about which the boss has written eloquently and at great length. Three things here. First, I’ve fed Olby enough crap sandwiches over the years for comparing conservative pundits and Fox News to jihadis not to let Tanc get away with the equivalent. Unless they’re making bombs, it’s always poor form to compare your opponents to terrorists. Second, he’s simply wrong on the facts. As HuffPo notes, it’s not La Raza whose motto is “All for the race. Nothing for the rest,” it’s MEChA (“For La Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada.”). There are links between the two groups — this 2006 Human Events piece by Charlie Norwood is essential — but La Raza’s considerably more mainstream than MEChA, which calls for the reclamation of the American southwest by Latinos. Third, I realize that any concession to electoral reality is disdained by “true conservatives” as the hallmark of a squishy RINO, but with Republicans nervous about alienating Hispanic voters by confronting Sotomayor, how wise is it for the most vociferous amnesty opponent in America to be doing the rounds on cable news throwing verbal grenades like this? You worked hard in Congress for a long time, Tanc. Take a break. Especially now that the GOP’s got a tiny bit of traction in making Democrats squirm over her “wise Latina” comment.

Look. When are the republicans going to get over that there is no fair arbiter of your good intentions. It does not matter if you advocate a hispanic conservative, the media and liberals will attack him or her.
Have some stones and just stick with the truth. If what she said was a double standard and racist, then let the chips fall where they may. You will be vilified no matter what, so just stick with the truth.

In some ways, I hate this. In other ways, it’s time the libs get put on the defensive about all this stuff the way they constantly put conservatives on the defensive. They set the rules of engagement, and those rules are that they set off any damn dirty bomb they want anywhere, and we have to behave ourselves like good little girls because our principles tell us to.
Remember that Palin was a member of a “hate group” because of some button on her desk or meeting her husband attended 20 years ago or pamphlet in her garbage or who cares what the hell it was? This woman is a member of a group called “The Race”. Make the libs twist themselves into pretzels to explain this organization to Joe and Jane American.

The truth, indeed, does hurt.
Why is it only WHITE PEOPLE are racist?
Let me tell you, as a half white, half American of Mexican/Spanish descent, I see a lot of racism on the brown side of my race.
La Raza……the Race. If a white person even breathed such a phrase, somewhere, a identity liberal group would hear it and the crying would start.
I’m tired of being silenced. La Raza is the brown KKK.
It’s time to call them out for what they are…..

Actually La Raza (The Race) is more like the Aryan Nation. In fact it’s hard to tell them apart.
The Folk, namely the members of the race, are the Nation. Racial loyalties must always supersede geographical and national boundaries. If this is taught and understood, it will end fratricidal wars. Wars must not be fought for the benefit of another race.

Yes, the instinct to be moderate runs deep in the conservative blogger. Just as if the secret to achieving influence, or attaining respect, was moderation. If America wanted moderate conservatism, it would be happy with the status quo. Firebrand conservatism is what the times calls for.
And let it be noted that when the Left engages in hyperbole, they are to be mocked not for the hyperbole itself, but for cause that hyperbole serves. Hyperbole, statistics, and damn lies are just tools. Using them does not invalidate one’s cause. It is the cause itself which is, or isn’t, valid.

Then what kind of organization is La Raza?
d1carter on May 28, 2009 at 10:24 PM
I don’t believe that Sotomayor is a racist. She is prejudiced however.
Even so as a mere citizen I can overlook things like that as we all tend to defend our own kind.Ducks swim with ducks.
As a Supreme Court justice however her views will impact the lives of millions for decades to come.
She is not acceptable.
That being said from what I have seen lately I think the wingers need to tone it down a little and stop using such harsh rhetoric.
As Joe Friday says…”Just the facts”.
NeoKong on May 28, 2009 at 10:24 PM
For those who want to research La Raza for themselves, here is their website: http://www.nclr.org. I cannot vouch for its truthfullness.
ksm on May 28, 2009 at 10:25 PM
Of course La Raza is racist. Probably Sotomayor is, too. But is this really the hill we want to die on, as conservatives?
I’d like to see a little more of this non-stop outrage directed at the economic fascism being railroaded through, instead of at an SCOTUS appointment that’s going to happen regardless.
califcon on May 28, 2009 at 10:25 PM
Judge Sonia Sotomayor is listed as a member of the National Council of La Raza, a group that’s promoted driver’s licenses for illegal aliens, amnesty programs, and no immigration law enforcement by local and state police. La Raza also has connections to groups that advocate the separation of several southwestern states from the rest of America. That connection would be MEChA.
Imagine any United States Supreme Court nominee saying ‘my experience as a white man makes me better than a latina woman’. Wouldn’t they have to withdraw? New racism is no better than old racism. A white man racist nominee would be forced to withdraw. A Latina woman racist nominee should also be forced to withdraw.
La Raza literally means, “The Race”. And it’s not any race other than the Latino race that they care more than two cents about in any way, shape, or form. And that, for the clueless, is blatant racism.
I’ll bet dollars right now that if they keep digging, they’ll find a direct link bewteen Sotomayor and MEChA as well.
Sorry. But given first impressions based on her very own statements, affiliations, and actions in her public life… I agree with Tanc. Wholeheartedly.

Yes, libs can get away with such inflammatory speech aimed at conservatives. They have the media licking their toes! They can say whatever they want, and the media will put it in context for them, “clarify” it for them, or bury it if necessary to protect them. We play by different rules, whether we like it or not, whether it’s fair or not, whether it’s right or not. Tanc just gave them a really, really useful and damaging sound bite to play over an over and over again out of context. This was not the most effective way to draw Soto’s La Raza membership to the public’s attention.
How ’bout a little common sense and pragmatism, people? Seriously, you’re playing into the lefty stereotype of wild-eyed wingnuts with this kind of rhetoric.

Why does one group of European invaders (Hispanic) consider their invasion of American Indian soil in Mexico and the U.S. Southwest more worthy (deserving of respect and historical weight) than the same invasion of the same region by a different group of invading Europeans (English, French, whatever)?
They have no more “right” to any room in this hemisphere than anyone else. They are European invaders who drove the natives off their land and now act as if they have some moral highground just because they speak Spanish and not Swedish or Dutch or English or French.
Besides, Mexico is a basket case narc-ocracy and is not a model we need to spread into the U.S.
Racists are always supremacist imbeciles who deserve only mockery and marginalization.

Hehe … man I just will NEVER understand Allah’s reasoning.
Firstly – what would we say about Walmart if it had ties to skinheads? Would we say … “Well, ya know – those KKK guys – they’re bad and all – but Walmart is considerably more mainstream than they are.” ???
Nope.
We would say … “Hey Walmart … what is your farking problem hanging out with those skinheads??”
I’d like to know what’s the advantage to courting electoral favor when we are forced to deal with a double standard?
Uhm … how many spending bills did BUSH sign that he didn’t really believe in but he did anyway because he knew some liberal special interest or minority would steal his electoral advantage if he didn’t?
The answer – he probably signed more than a few.
His reward?
“I found this deficit when I stepped into my office!” Yeah – that’s right – Obama blames Bush for the deficit and uses him as justification to quadruple the deficit.
If we simply go along with Soto without calling her out – we’re not going to get rewarded. What’s going to happen is it’s going to set a precedence for TOLERANCE OF RACISM that is going to get thrown back into our faces in the future. We’re not going to get Hispanic votes for giving Soto a pass – please – use some logic. McCain was the SUPERMAN OF AMNESTY FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!
Everyone wants to talk about racism – Holder says we’re cowards because we won’t – well hell – LET’S TALK ABOUT IT – BECAUSE SHE’S A RACIST!!
My God Man – Trent Lott lost his job as leader of the Senate for making a statement that wasn’t 1/100th as bad as Soto’s! And Soto is going to be making legal rulings on our CONSTITUTION!!
I’m so sick of woosies crying about us criticizing Soto. We’re the opposition – IT’S WHAT WE DO. And guess what – if Obama is successful in his Socialist policies and creates a Utopia – then we’re wrong and we should be out of power. But if he’s wrong (and he is) – the we’ll come back into power and no one will care if we supported Soto or not.
BUT IF WE ARE THE SAME AS DEMOCRATS AND AGREE WITH OBAMA ON ALL HIS DECISIONS – WE WILL SHARE THE BLAME WITH HIM.
Opposition Party – it’s what we do!
