Campus police? Puhleeze! To really prevent crime you would need a campus cop to student ratio of about one to one. Let’s put that to a vote in the legislature.

Almost have that here in Baltimore. It is somewhat unusual to be outside and not be able to see at least one campus security person. Saturation.

Good for her. Due to the gun laws in England, crossbows are almost a household necessity. People laugh when I tell them they’re for self-defense. I wonder if they know how deadly a bolt is.

Depending on the pull, you might be able to put a broad head bold all the way through someone, in a way that makes a steel jacket bullet downright pleasant in comparison.

One instance I remember was when a coed had a creep break into her room with ill intent. He burst out laughing when she drew her broadheaded arrow on him. He stopped laughing when she plugged him in the gut.

She probably knew a gut shot wasn’t nice to do to an animal.

The Dems filibustered the Voter ID bill to kill it, and in the process may have killed some bills I really wanted passed.

Yes, I am pissed. My kid will be going to college next year, and I think campuses will be safer if seniors and staff can carry.

There may be a way to revive it before time runs out, but it doesn’t sound good.

Note to HA parents with future college kids:

Make them do time at a community college

Then send them away but get them set up in an off campus apartment.

I’d like to see an NRA campaign to organize a chapter of the national Students for Concealed Carry on Campus (SCCC) ON EVERY CAMPUS in the USA. That would flush out for court scrutiny these thought control fascists.

Obviously if Parker had access to socialized medical care he would have survived his wounds. Another great reason to oppose the administration’s plans. By the way…shouldn’t the pharmacist be getting some sort of award rather than prosecuted?

Made her take the bus all around campus to get to her room. But even then, you can get assaulted in the stairwell, outside the entrance to the dormitory. It’s quite frightening.

There are some community colleges within safe neighborhoods, designed with safety in mind, that hire sufficient and proficient campus police to ensure the safety of everyone on campus as much as possible.

But do be realistic, as MANY community colleges are in the oldest neighborhoods, old public school buildings converted into community colleges, or even new campuses built in crime ridden ethnic neighborhoods. Getting from your automobile into class, and return to your automobile is risky business, especially in the dark for evening/night classes. Those old school houses turned into community college locations do NOT have sufficient parking facilities; they were built as neighborhood schools before even busing was an issue. I would NOT want my daughter to be forced to attend such a location without carrying protection. Walking through old neighborhoods to get to class at night is a danger you’re ignoring because it doesn’t apply to you. Where’s the campus security? Still on campus, if the campus employees more than the one or two in their campus police office manning the phones. And those crime reports that you reference only apply to crimes committed ON campus, not on the streets surrounding campus sites.

If we go back to those halcyon days of the mid 60′s, it was the administration at UC Berekely that was allegedly trampling on the first amendment rights of a student named Mario Savio. This led to the student riots, the anit-war movement and the rise of the radical left. And the rests as they say is history.

The times they are a’changin’… have a’changed….

The law passed with votes required this session ensuring people with concealed handgun licenses to be armed at Texas public institutions of higher learning.

Private institutions have their own private property rights to determine independently who may bear arms on their property in Texas.

There’s more than one organization this student should consult, and the administrators who prohibited her free speech SHOULD be sued, absolutely.

Court cases on matters this basic better occur sooner than later.
