Hmmm: Chrysler dealers shut down in Obama bankruptcy are mostly Republican?

I’m skeptical that this is as bad as it looks — it’d be politically suicidal, for no benefit greater than petty revenge — but consider it your must-read of the day. Don’t stop before the updates either or you’ll miss profitable dealers scratching their heads trying to figure out what mysterious sin they could have committed to warrant termination.
To quickly review the situation, I took all dealer owners whose names appeared more than once in the list. And, of those who contributed to political campaigns, every single one had donated almost exclusively to GOP candidates. While this isn’t an exhaustive review, it does have some ominous implications if it can be verified.
However, I also found additional research online at Scribd (author unknown), which also appears to point to a highly partisan decision-making process.
Could be that dealers, being entrepreneurs, trend heavily Republican anyway. Without some kind of control sample, there’s no way to judge if this is corrupt or just representative. Like Ross says, further research is required. Anyone think the media’s game?
But wait, you say, didn’t Chrysler decide to shut down the dealerships, not the feds? Well, funny thing about that. Via Reliapundit, Reuters gets an earful from the dealers’ lawyer:
Lawyer Leonard Bellavia, of Bellavia Gentile & Associates, who represents some of the terminated dealers, said he deposed Chrysler President Jim Press on Tuesday and came away with the impression that Press did not support the plan.
“It became clear to us that Chrysler does not see the wisdom of terminating 25 percent of its dealers,” Bellavia said. “It really wasn’t Chrysler’s decision. They are under enormous pressure from the President’s automotive task force.”
He added the government task force, which he criticized for having no members with retail experience was, in effect, attacking U.S. entrepreneurs…
“I think it’s unconstitutional,” said Jim Anderer, owner of Island Jeep in Lindenhurst, New York.
“The Fifth Amendment clearly states you cannot take another person’s property without due process or compensation. Even in eminent domain, there is an appraised price on the property being taken by the state.”
I don’t know. To believe this is true, you’d have to believe Obama applied some awfully heavy-handed pressure to get his way. And really, what are the odds of that?

As a naturalized Texan (been here 25 years), I’d support secession. We have the agriculture, energy, electronics and manufacturing to stand up on our own. And with the guns and ammo that have been stockpiled here in the last few months (haven’t been able to buy ammo at WalMart unless you get there first thing in the morning for months), I think our ability to defend ourselves is not a problem.
.
OK, I’m not there yet. But if it gets to that point, I’m on board.
.
On a side note, if this thing is allowed to stand, the donations to anyone who opposes The 0ne will dry up to zero. If your support of “the right” candidate determines whether you succeed or fail, you (or most) will support “the right” candidate. Chicago/Chavez style, baby!

What, you expect illegal orders? Silly NoDonkey. See, the protesters will be painted as the illegal ones. Besides, how many Germans failed to obey lawfull authorities? I did not say laws; I said authorities. It is a well known tendency in psychology for people to follow authority figures.
I guess too you have not seen how easy it is to trump up a resisting arrest charge.

It might just become a matter of necessity, such as with the bankruptcy of the federal government. I think we can all agree, at least, that this is a distinct possibility.
What could they do? Negotiate like they do with Iran? They won’t be waterboarding anyone, right? They don’t have the guts to do anything, nor the will. That was the whole point of electing The Precedent.
If Texas went, there would likely be a whole swath of sttes that joined. Chances are that, outside of California, all of the major energy sources would be in that swath. Texas and Alaska, alone, are much of it. The economies would probably boom. Could you imagine, free to drill and put nuke power plants up. It wouldn’t even be a contest.
As I said, above, I don’t think it’s really going to be a matter of choice.
And what if they didn’t go?

Assuming this turns out to be an abuse of power (we don’t know yet), would it be illegal to start a movement to call for secession?
What other option is there? Moving out of the country? I think calling for impeachment would be a total dead-end.

I tend to think that owners of new car sales companies are Republican by their entrepreneurial nature. They are “rich enough” to afford being Republican. I would be more interested in seeing the actual criteria used to close down dealerships.
More telling might be the number of minority-owned dealerships that were closed and how this number compares to non-minority-owned. Hmm…

What’s going to be interesting is comparing the talk today to what we’re willing to write here in six months after a few have been arrested by Homeland Security (just a little pre-emption against civil unrest… for the good of the Nation)
It can all start happening so easily. When it does, it will snowball and we’ll all be taking it underground. It’s happened elsewhere but we never thought it could happen here.
Will there come a day when we’re called the resistance? Or has that already started?

Obama is like a knight in shining armor that an ingenue marries in haste after a whirlwind courtship only to learn that he is a brute and a thug, that she is bound to him at least four the next four years and probably the next eight, and if he can somehow rig it prevent her from ever breaking free from him for the rest of her life.

Senator Palpatine: Well, we could enter a plea to the Courts.
Queen Amidala (Objecting): The Courts take even longer to decide things than the Senate!
Can’t you just feel the trap closing. Dealerships, Business leaders suddenly “converting” to Democrat to “stay out of trouble”. So many outrages that the courts are clogged; and by the time anything is resolved (years), the businesses or the men are broken.
He hates you and he is going to make you pay. This is the transition between soft Fascism and hard. Now if you don’t support him, he closes your business. Don’t like it? Take it to the courts and get it appealed forever. Just wait till he starts to play with Professional Licensing. If you don’t cooperate with GRH, you aren’t even a Doctor anymore, no DEA number, no script authority, a non-person. Don’t like it? Take it to the Courts, we can replace you with a 3 Doctors from Kenya or Mexico who together cost half what you cost.

If someone can put together a crossmatch of dealerships closed and political support/donations made by dealerships and there is a statistically insignificant probability that it is by chance, and I am not saying that will be the case, then military officers need to honor their oath to support and defend the U.S. Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic, and remove Barack Obama from office.

Most states have laws in place, pertinent specifically to franchise and distribution contracting, which ultimately protect the “franchisee” from this kind of damaging termination by the “franchisor.” Maybe some lawyer commenters can elaborate further… Wisconsin is a state that you really don’t want to terminate a franchisee unless you feel it will cost you less to be sued than to keep the contract alive.
So my point is this: Will the blue states (and red ones too) represent their red constituents (and blue ones too) that have been terminated by legally challenging the terminations brought forth by the US government? I’m trying to illustrate a problem greater than terminations due to political funding choices. Will the Federal Courts stomp on the States rights to override their franchise laws? Will the states challenge the Federal government to uphold their laws?

OK, gonna throw something else out there. Obama and his ilk threatened the Swiss banks about two months ago. It was a news flash then went away.(wonder why)
Obama wanted to copy right his logo/image when he came into office. Someone posted a story here about GM being able to undercut all their competitors.
We are watching Marxists. What else do Marxist do???? They make themselves rich. How many millions/billions are going into an Obama Swiss bank account.

I wrote a letter to the dealer down in Florida that had his successful business seized by the Obama gestapo and given to his worthless competitors. I hope these people form a massive group and sue the government. You know,, there are still some good judges out there. They haven’t all been replaced yet.
I never ever thought I would live to see anything like this in my life. The government is actually seizing businesses that belong to Republicans.
Could someone ask Colin Powell what he thinks if this???
If I owned one of these dealerships,, I would make them take me out in chains or I would burn it to the ground! This is pure tyranny. Screw the freaking media! How long before they just decide to foreclose on Republican homeowners or seize grocery stores that belong to Republicans.
I am telling you,,, they are going to go after food production and distribution!! They are going to seize grocery store chains and farms. It will happen! Laugh now,, but food is critical and they are going to attempt to own that as well!
Also,,, this inventory from these dealerships will be given to the poor! Watch for that one!

Two of the auto makers are bankrupt. Obviously, they didn’t have great executive leadership over the decades. It seems like GM has at least three organizational problems:
1.) Too many brands.
2.) Too many dealers.
3.) A horrible contract with the UAW.
When a company like Starbucks over-expands they shut stores down. Obviously, a car dealer’s arrangement is different, but it seems that the dealers’ arrangement made GM less effective as a corporation.
I’d hope bankruptcy forces the UAW contract to be subject to market forces, but I doubt it. My guess is that Obama will fail to apply that badly needed fix to the industry.

There’s so MUCH evidence that Obama plays politics even from the highest office in the land that it’s getting hard to ignore. First the Chrysler deal for the Union, then the pressure put on NY for no one to run against Gillibrand and now this. And, there seems to be no shame even when caught at it—this WH, if not actually criminal, is very close and getting closer. Does the majority of the American people who think he’s so wonderful not know or do they know and don’t care or do they not believe because the media has painted us as so partisan. The last I think. Have to find a way to change it before it’s too late and the values of the country go down to stay down.

I think it’s a given that any productive group within our society, such as these profitable dealers, will of course be Republican and conservative. If, for example, the feds went after ‘community organizers’, the sampling of this parasitic group would produce almost 100% Democrats.

I do not question the fact that these closures were political, however how quickly can the MSM and White House work together to bury the mere notion that somehow such political flak is remotely illegal.

Wait until they have to stop producing their trucks and SUV’s even though they’ve always been profitable and have always sold well. They quit selling when gas prices went up (part of the plan). Of course there was that initial bump in sales of small cars at that time, but that has since dropped off because no one is willing/able to buy anything now. But I bet $100 they government will not let GM or Chrysler produce trucks or SUV’s because it doesn’t fit into their stupid f’ing 35 MPG green plan.
