Quote of the day

“I thought it was reprehensible, irresponsible and unpersuasive. If we’re going to regain the credibility of the American people, we’re going to have to stop with silly antics like that. It may get a snide chuckle inside the Beltway, but it offends most people. We have to get away from the politics of personal destruction.”

Where were you going? I’m going to Europe on the 12th or the 13th, or something like that. I can’t even remember when I’m going.

This is true.

Before I became a hermit, I got the strangest reactions from people because I dress conservatively, speak proper English, never swear, open and hold doors for others, stop so people can cross the street, pick up money people drop and returned it to them…
I can’t tell you the number of times I was asked what country i was from. And many people treated me like I was an alien from another planet.

Who desires nothing more than an ordinary chance,
to live exactly as he likes, and do precisely what he wants…
An average man is he, of no eccentric whim,
Who likes to live his life, free of strife,
doing whatever he thinks is best, for him,
Well… just an ordinary man…

Before you go bashing the honorable Congressman from Utah, I would highly suggest that you actually know what the HECK you are talking about. This man is about the furthest thing from a RINO that you can find.
He is absolutely correct, the ad is stupid, it is petty and it is childish and those that think that the RNC needs to continue going down this road of personal attacks needs to take a real close look at how well that crap worked in Minnesota….Oh yeah – that’s right we are now stuck with Senator Al Freaking Frankin!!!!!

I don’t know. Perhaps you are correct about Rep. Jason Chaffetz’s politics. However, his response to this ad fed into the Left’s talking points about Republicans, and therefore was not helpful.
if you are correct about the representative’s politics, he has to learn to not feed the beast, or the beast will destroy him and all the rest of us.

Upstater85 on May 24, 2009 at 12:55 AM
I think you will find that most agree with you on the stupidity of the ad, just ridiculous. I think the confusion is why this young congressman didn’t just ignore it? To become vocally outraged at something the Republicans do is a sure fired way to become the guest star on every lefty news and commentary show. I will take your word for his character but most would agree that this was a political blunder on his part unless becoming a tool for the Dems was his goal.

Egypt is incredible. I plan on going back, probably next spring. It’s not an expensive place to tour, but you do have to go with a tour group. Sorry to say it here, but I was totally charmed by the people and the culture. The antiquities are amazing and I’m not just talking about the Giza pyramids either.

You, who are on the road
Must have a code
That you can live by.
And so, become yourself
Because the past
Is just a goodbye.
Teach, your children well
Their father’s hell
Did slowly go by
And feed them on your dreams
The one they pick’s
The one you’ll know by.
Don’t you ever ask them why
If they told you, you would die
So just look at them and sigh
And know they love you
Over and out guys, I have a book to finish and I don’t think it’s going to end well.
Knucklehead on May 24, 2009 at 1:19 AM

So how do we stop the cycle in this modern world where political correctness is used as a weapon?
eforhan on May 24, 2009 at 12:00 AM
We don’t fall prey to their tactics. We don’t apologize, but instead ask them if they are trying to distract the public from the real issue instead of this faux outrage . Then bring up the numerous teabagging insults & or ads smearing _________ -fill in the blank.
Use the Alinsky playbook against them. Rule #4: Make the enemey live up to their own book of rules.
The left tried to do this with Rush. At first some Repubs. fell into their web, but when they realized they were being trapped they chose their words carefully.
The libs have so many lunatics like Olbermann, Garofolo etc. This should be easy.

What exactly is wrong with calling a liar a liar? Playing nice is pointless when you have a media ready and willing to drag you over the coals for calling a liar a liar and at the same time freakishly obsess over who the mother of Trig really is. If the lying harpy wants to play the victim fine but do not expect me to back off from busting her in the mouth. The wussified cowards on the left want to fight as long as they don’t get hit. Time to bring the “reality based” jerk-offs back to realty via a bloody nose.
The point being if you can’t deal with a bloody nose don’t go starting fights.
jdkchem on May 24, 2009 at 3:24 AM
Yes, because likening her to a Bond character crosses the line? The reason they likened her to Pussy Galore was so they could do the closing line “Democrats Galore.” That line of course implying that Democrats are in fact pussies when it comes to defending this nation and those who risk their lives. Pussy is an insult used by Alpha males to question the masculinity and courage of others. When the leader of the Democratic Party calls the CIA an agency of liars and the members of her party defender her … they deserve far harsher criticism than being called pussies. They are in point of fact cowards who will sacrifice those defending this nation if it is politically expedient. They did it with Iraq and they’re doing it again. Where was the outrage from the left and “independents” when she questioned the honor of the people of the CIA? Talk about pussies.

Well Mr. Chaffetz, it’s too bad you can’t seem to muster as much outrage over the speakers actions of the last week as you can for the RNC’s reaction to it.
Leave….and don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
conservnut on May 24, 2009 at 8:59 AM
Keep on target. Follow Dick Cheney’s and Liz Cheney’s approach. Hold the line on the real issue.
Ignore what is NOT the issue, do not entangle yourself in the premise of your opponent since it is irrelevant because there is no reason to forfeit your own right to humor, whether “good” or “effective” is beside the point. Whether a camera lens or a barrel, whether a beautiful actress or an aging gramma, NANCY PELOSI LIES NOT ONLY TO COVER HER OWN INDESCRESIONS BUT TO DEPRIVE OUR NATION OF HUMAN INTELLIGENCE, the very thing that Bush warned America we were short on before his involvement with Iraq ever happened. Pelosi is digging our American grave, and her feminist groupies are singing sirens. It’s a good thing none on the Left are as effective as Die Lorelei.
“Ich weiss nicht“
maverick muse on May 24, 2009 at 9:18 AM
It’s fine if Chaffetz thinks the video was a bit over the top, his language in criticizing it is certainly way over the top. It makes one wonder what audience he’s playing to.
I’d like to see what sort of language he used to criticize Madam Speaker regarding her reckless and irresponsible charges against the CIA last week. If it didn’t match the heat he brought to this critique, then I’d really wonder what team he’s playing for.
