Obama: Hey, we’re out of money
posted at 12:12 pm on May 23, 2009 by Allahpundit
Via Breitbart, an important newsflash from The One in case you hadn’t heard that we’re running trillion-dollar deficits these days. See if you can balance the nuance of his point about Medicaid and Medicare being completely unsustainable long-term with his burning desire to nationalize most of the country’s heath-care industry.
Update: Drudge has a transcript.

My favorite lie is:
“This is a consequence of the crisis that we’ve seen and in fact our failure to make some good decisions on health care over the last several decades.”
The deficit is a result of our failure to nationalize health care in the past??????? I don’t understand the twisted logic behind that at all… I’m pretty sure the deficit is caused by the gov’t bloating itself and sticking its nose somewhere it doesn’t belong… The deficit would be much larger if we had nationalized health care a while ago.
I still don’t understand how everyone elected this empty-suit president. He has no idea what he’s talking about.
Christina D on May 23, 2009 at 12:59 PM
Remember. It’s all government’s money. They let you keep some of it. It’ll help explain everything he says.
See, if you let him take over your medical, they get to spend more money (which is theirs anyways) which lets them take more from you (which you took from them in the first place).

It was more of a mistake to force popular election for Senators, who are supposed to be representatives of the states, not the people. The people’s federal representation is in the House. The states’ federal representation is in the Senate.

Believe it. He’s about as dumb as they come.
Not so much brainwashed as this is all he knows. The only time he is comfortable, speaking off the cuff, is when he’s babbling on about marxist crap. This is typical of marxists. They don’t know anything but have a collection of rote arguments that they can launch into when discussing the marxist perspective. This is why he gets in trouble whenever he’s off the TOTUS.
I wish our nation could end with a preposition, instead of the living hell we are hurtling towards. And that is what The Precedent wants. He wants the arrogant US and evil whitey put in our place, and stripped of our wealth and freedom. That is all he wants.
Yep.

I don’t know if this in an old or new interview, but if it’s new he set this scenario up the other week. He said then we couldn’t pass debt onto our children (or something similar). People laughed, but buried in the story was the beginning meme that the debt was due to health care.
He’s not stupid, he’s scheming and malevolent. Someone already said he created the crisis. So true, and now that it’s here he’s lying about how the crisis came to be.

AnninCA,
It is mindboggling to learn that a personal service that requires practitioners with years of training, and employs extraordinarily expensive equipment IS EXPENSIVE.
But, I’m sure with Obama magic, we can eliminate the costs, while improving the service.
—-
Why is it the government’s problem?
If a company finds health care plans too expensive, they can eliminate them.
—–
I know it’s shocking to contemplate people being responsible for their own care (self insuring).
That would be un-American.
If someone gets sick, and can’t pay for their own care, it is my responsibility to pay for them, right?
It’s only fair.
mockmook on May 23, 2009 at 1:21 PM
Stupidity annoys me.
CA’s healthcare problem is federal. It has nothing to do with any voter.
We are required by Federal law to provide healthcare to all residents. That was a clear federal court mandate.
We have struggled to provide programs that relieve the hospitals.
But our problem could have been alleviated by a healthcare program such as what Hillary Clinton proposed.
That would have required participation.
Obama’s plan was always pie in the sky, and wouldn’t have helped us out a whit.
Neither would McCain’s, btw.

California does go above and beyond what the Fed’s require in benefits for illegals. On this and many other issues, California has not been fiscally responsible and the results are disastrous. I don’t want to replicate the California approach nationally, yet Obama chose to do so.
America’s health care system does indeed have problems, that increase costs, yet it is still the best in the world. Is there a different model in any State or nation that we could learn from?
Also, for every dollar we invest in health care improvements, we shall have to save a dollar elsewhere, or risk an even greater financial disaster than California is facing. We can’t afford to wait for promises of health care savings that might happen someday. We’re out of money.

We’ll have to make these corrections for the next Constitution, after this country goes down the sh!tter, everything collapses, and a new nation must rise in its place. That seems to be all we’re going to be left with. There can be no real recovery from having shredded the Constitution and totally ignored all law, as this insane junta has done. And, once they pass shamnesty, it’s definitely all over. We will have to clean up and redefine citizenship and throw out all of the illicit citizenships that this junta printed up and passed out, in addition to dealing with those who brought this on with their anti-American attitudes and legislation. That will require a different nation.

Obama’s philosophy is pretty easy to understand. He sees government programs that have failed to work and never NEVER considers the possibility that there are just some things that government is incapable of doing well. No … with Obama it’s always, we have to make government smarter. He has the complete unshakeable faith that if you make government powerful enough and smart enough, it will solve all problems.
This is an outgrowth of Obama’s unshakeable faith in himself. He believes there is no problem he can’t solve (putting aside the fact that he has NEVER solved a single problem in his whole life – other than the problem of how to get elected.)
So when his plans fail, he will never come to the obvious conclusion that the very nature of the plans preclude success. That taking competition out of health care will cause prices to rise will never occur to him. No, he will always find someone else to blame. He will blame Bush. He will blame the greedy so-and-so’s. But he will never blame himself, he will never accept responsiblility, and he will never re-examine his assumptions.

I am probably being sucker-punched, but I’ll bite.
Hillary proposed a more liberal plan, but it’s one that I got. You cannot overhaul this system without making sure that everyone is involved.
Let me explain. We’ve had 7 major hospitals shut down in LA. They claim the issue is having to adhere to the Federal guidelines and treat everyone.
In short, it’s the emergency room issue.
Hillary said, everyone is in. Obama claimed he could revamp the system without demanding that.
No, he can’t.
He lied.
AnninCA on May 23, 2009 at 1:42 PM
Why don’t you shut up and run a health care business? Then come back and tell us just how wonderful GRHC is. Why don’t you ask the Doctors? You make it sound like “Health Care comes out of a bottle and is dispensed with a spoon, instead of the efforts of men who have to be paid and don’t want to work for the Government. The desire to be Independent and Free is not fear, it is longing.
If you want to reduce the fear, show us a system where the Medical Treatment got BETTER under government. Cuba? France? England? Poland? Africa? Anywhere?
The whole reason we have the most advanced medicine in the world is the profit motive. Men who are willing to trade a couple decades of their lives in college, med school, Internship, Residency to become the best they can be and be paid handsomely for it. You keep telling us to come up with a better solution, how about you come up with a better solution than those ideas which have shown to be a failure.
GunRunner on May 23, 2009 at 1:44 PM
Sounds good, though, the flat tax point should probably fall under “Equal Protection” and be able to sail through any court with integrity … which brings up the other weak point of the Constitution – no restrictions on the courts and what they are able to rule on. This is, to my mind, the biggest problem we have, as the courts are able to dictate to the other two branches anything they want (and the federal courts are even gleeful to dictate policy in the individual states).
I lay the blame for much of our problems at the runaway court system, which has decided that it can rule on everything under the sun and never has to worry about the cost or consequences of its decisions. The tyranny of the judiciary is the most dangerous, and powerful, aspect of governmental power and is not handled well in our Constitutional framework. The judiciary, as it stands, has no limits on its power, other than what it decides for itself. That situation is untenable, as we see.
