Obama: Hey, we’re out of money

posted at 12:12 pm on May 23, 2009 by Allahpundit

Via Breitbart, an important newsflash from The One in case you hadn’t heard that we’re running trillion-dollar deficits these days. See if you can balance the nuance of his point about Medicaid and Medicare being completely unsustainable long-term with his burning desire to nationalize most of the country’s heath-care industry.

Update: Drudge has a transcript.

When the USA is out of money, it need only print more. If you monitor one thing, and one thing only, in the financial markets, watch interest rates of U.S. Treasury Obligations–Bills, Notes and Bonds. TOTUS’s gigantic tax and spend policies portend a prolonged increase of interest rates on Treasuries and possibly even a catastrophic run on the dollar.

Americans elected this classless leftist, and the price they pay may span generations. Get the word out before we’re all broke.

Only in a surreal universe would the citizenry be convinced that Universal Health Care is their salvation when they are already sinking under the weight of Medicare and Prescription Drug plans.

I am glad some one else mentioned this about Ann. There are a few who remember her from the other sites. She hijacks threads just like this one. It was all about her and not about the issue at hand. Hey Ann take your catnip and play some place else.

I too do not comment much. I like to lurk if that makes me a non-conservative that is on you and not me. Now I found it fascinating to view the above blogs during the primaries to see how the other side was imploding and it did implode. Believe it or not the real democrats had O figured out along time ago.

I agree with utebell UHC will not work as designed in the US we are just to big. I do not think it is the employer obligation to provide health care, pension plans or most fring(sic) bennies. These obligations are up to the individual to provide for himself. When a employer provides these services your choices are limited and I do not like limited choices because to me that is a infringement on my freedom.

OBAMA: Well, we are out of money now. We are operating in deep deficits, not caused by any decisions we’ve made on health care so far. This is a consequence of the crisis that we’ve seen and in fact our failure to make some good decisions on health care over the last several decades.

The previous 60 years of reckless spending, the previous administration bailouts, then the second round of bailouts, stimulus, and the current budget dug the hole … NOT healthcare.

This dolt is deflecting to get his bots to vote in healthcare for everyone (legal and illegal). He knows the people that put him in office are stupid enough to buy it.

onlineanalyst on May 23, 2009 at 8:30 PM

Thanks for the suggestions! Sorry to respond so late, we made dinner and played with the kids.

Yes, we did qualify for a good deduction in 2007 when we had the baby. We got a little bit for 2008 but since it’s just anything over 7.5% of income, which for us was about $3750, we were able to deduct about $2k. And, unless they raise the limits on SCHIP, we are over the limit for that.

My plan is to get the crappy, high-deductible HSA Blue Cross insurance and continue to pay everything out of pocket. The reason I’m leaning toward that is because at least I will start paying the contracted rate instead of the cash rate. Even with the 20% discount my doctor gives me it is still higher than I will pay with insurance.

I hate to bring this up, but is not Obongo HOLDING interest rates low? If he is doing this, which I think he is, it is like loading a spring. Eventually the pressure will be too much and rates will climb artificially fast. Even worse, if the timing is right, it will kill any recovery in manufacturing or real estate, as both are sensitive to jumping interest rates.

You make up to a certain amount of money and everything is free or ridiculously cheap. You make one penny over that amount and nada. Zilch. Sorry!

http://sweetness-light.com/archive/the-many-tentacles-of-cloward-piven

CLOWARD-PIVEN STRATEGY
First proposed in 1966 and named after Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, the “Cloward-Piven Strategy” seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.

Spending 4 trillion in 100 days would be a hell of a jumpstart on this wouldn’t it???

In addition to the the unbelievably naive and moronic comments on the deficit, what’s with asking Barry about the possibility of being a SC Justice after office? I mean, what person with an I.Q. over 50 would even consider such a thing?

Barry has never even argued so much as a small claims case, or a traffic infraction, let alone served as even a night court magistrate. On top of that, I don’t know what Constitution he studied, but based on his actions the past 100+ days, it clearly was not the U.S. Constitution. So, what possible qualification would he have to even be considered for a SC judgeship?

AnninCA, could you please provide the data that proves the economic theory that raising taxes on workers and businesses to fund a universal health care program is the key to jump starting small businesses? (You DO understand that, short of printing money, which would COMPLETELY throw your theory out of whack, taxing citizens and businesses is the only way to fund such a program, right?) Because no matter how I look at the numbers, I can’t see how taking MORE money out of citizens and businesses pockets enables them to spend more, thus generating more income and prosperity for businesses.

So please, enlighten us on this new, unfounded theory.

Fed45 on May 24, 2009 at 1:23 AM

You mean 787 billion dollars worth of dog runs and frisbee parks did not generate tax revenues?

If we are out of money how is Obama going to pay for the Healthcare that is going to lower costs and save the economy? Is he replacing Medicaid and Medicare with something cheaper? He can do that by cutting Medicaid payments for services. That will work. Not.

He could outsource medical care to China. That would get the illegals out of the US and onto boats which could lower the foodstamp burden and open about 20 million jobs to citizens. Citizens could skip health care since we are broke and ‘we’ is ‘them’

This is NOT what our troops fought, suffered, sacrificed and died for. This is NOT Constitutional Government with separation of powers, but methodical monopoly of tyranny.

Gramma! What big ears you have!
The better to mute you with, my dear.

When Wilson, FDR and LBJ were pushing their Socialisms, America was yet gullible. Today, American masses are just plain stupid; anything goes so long as there’s a free lunch at the end of the line. Disappointment, they have it coming worse than we; we KNOW there’s nothing but trouble and more trouble. They think it’s their piece of the pie. “Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie. When the pie was opened the birds began to sing. Wasn’t that a dainty dish to set before the King?” Counting out his money, Obama needn’t bite off his own nose to spite his face. Eating bread and honey, Michelle Obama got what she wants for her children, with gratitude to no one but herself. Just recall what happens to those washing the dirty laundry, hanging it out to dry after the white wash: bus road kill target.

Moral of the story: don’t do Obama’s bidding. That pot of gold promised at the end of the rainbow is your pauper’s grave.

maverick muse on May 24, 2009 at 9:04 AM

A question for our Canadian friends. You know what’s coming.

For those who like your Socialized Medicine, what are you going to do when the USA emulates your government health plan and you lose your ‘Safety Valve’ of being able to come to America and purchase immediate urgent medical procedures?

The ultra rich, in both countries, will always be able to directly purchase help, but the rest of us will be stuck in a governmental quagmire where they pretend to give us good health care and we pretend that we get well.

2 things. One, the deep deficits are largely caused by the large number of government healthcare programs we’ve already taken on. So it is absolutely caused by “decisions made on health care so far”.

Two, I love the way Obama just blithely says we’re out of money, and then forges ahead with his explanation that the only way to fix it is to borrow more money. I mean, is he so sure the media is in his pocket that the blatant hypocrisy doesn’t matter any more?

My husband and I do have a great policy. If we didn’t we’d buy a different one, simple as that. And do you want to know why? Because my husband took a job with benefits that work for our family. If they hadn’t, he would have kept on looking or we would have bought a policy that was right for us IN THE FREE MARKET. We will never look to the government to provide for our healthcare. I won’t even send my children to public school, there is no way I am going to have a papsmear done at the public health clinic when I’ve got a private physician. The thought of being forced to give up our health insurance makes me so pissed off I want to scream out loud every time I think about losing it. I want to shake Obama by the ears and tell him to get the h3ll out of my life. Meddling, marxist charlatan.

You’d be well advised to do the same, instead of championing his fascist ideals. CA can stew in it’s own juice. Or to paraphrase Obama’s preacher “California’s chickens have come home to roost.” Fix your illegal immigration problem and perhaps you could open 5 of those 7 medical centers again.
