Disgrace: Pelosi stands by smear of CIA
posted at 11:51 am on May 22, 2009 by Allahpundit
No retraction, no apology, not even a clarification. She’s obviously concluded, not unreasonably, that the more she talks, the worse things get. I thought the story left off, though, with her having absolved the agency and blamed everything on Bush instead. Are we back to her claiming that the CIA misleads Congress all the time or are we still pretending she was silent about this for four years because she didn’t want to make things hard on Dubya? I’m confused.
Politico’s leading today with a story about how the GOP’s supposedly overplayed its hand by having “polarizing” figures like Cheney and Gingrich attack her. Could be — the Democrats are certainly circling the wagons, per yesterday’s party-line vote not to investigate what she knew about waterboarding — but of course, if any more damaging info emerges, now they’re on the hook too. Says Jimmie Bise of the House vote, either the CIA’s lying and Democrats don’t care that our intelligence bureau is corrupt or Pelosi’s lying and Democrats don’t care about the CIA being maligned by the Speaker of the House. Either way, most ethical Congress evah.

She needs to resign, and resign NOW.

Nancy Pelosi is attacking George W Bush and Dick Cheney. Accusing the C.I.A. of lying is her way of targeting George W Bush…who comes from an old powerful wealthy political family, with lots of connections and influence in this country and without. So Nancy Pelosi vs C.I.A. -standing as a proxy for George W Bush. I will take the C.I.A. it isn’t like George W Bush, wouldn’t be privy to what people in Congress were doing over the last 8 years, he was in office being briefed himself daily. I have to think he knows very well where Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama are the most politically vulnerable.
If the Dems want to spin it the only way they can in the Media by Nancy shutting up…will see if that satisfies the Bush family. I think she should apologize to the C.I.A. publicly.
Dr Evil on May 22, 2009 at 1:44 PM
No way! If she wants to kneecap herself and her party, let her stay as long as she wants. The last thing the country needs is a house leader that can get things done.
landshark on May 22, 2009 at 1:47 PM
I hope the CIA nails her sorry butt now. This is rediculous. If anyone believes she stayed silent for years, to help Bush, they’re as nutty as she is.
Nancy doesn’t do a thing, unless it benefits Nancy, and she’s obviously willing to take those around her, down with her. They’re just stupid enough to let her do it too.

The toothless lapdog media strikes again.
Somebody really should put the whole pack of them down.
ILB on May 22, 2009 at 1:50 PM
Girl on girl smackdown. Nice job Liz.
If that interview had gone on for one more minute I’m sure we would have heard Lawrence screeching “Liar, Creepy Liar” again.
BTW, I am in favor of torturing jihadist scumbags who take pleasure in slitting the throat of their enemies. Or journalists. Or contractors. Eff them, O’Donnell, Obama and every donk who cares more about the welfare of terrorists than our own troops.

Democrats, what did you expect?
The media parrot is half dead, it will die soon anmd then things will change.

I hate this Congress.
ladyingray on May 22, 2009 at 1:58 PM
Me too. Why is this stupid traitor the speaker? Is this the best the libs can do? If so, they should do the right thing and fall on their swords in the best interests of the United States.
saiga on May 22, 2009 at 2:03 PM
The CIA finally have their preferred Congress (dem) and TOTUS (communist), and their is one lonely old man (Cheney) to stand up for America.
nondhimmie on May 22, 2009 at 2:04 PM
What I personally find disturbing really isn’t Nancy’s tactics.
It’s that the public has apparently lost the will to take responsibility.
Cheney is so right about the mood and the demands of the public after 9/11.
What horrified me was that I saw the public acting as thought that wasn’t real.
Say what?
It WAS real.
It was incredibly real.
That is why I think Cheney is worth listening to today. I have decided that the public is about like Congress, into image and disowning past choices.
I don’t think I could honestly say I have much respect for either.

Another lie she’s repeated over and over and over. she wouldn’t know bipartisan if it jumped out of a tree and stuck a banana up her nose.
scalleywag on May 22, 2009 at 2:24 PM
She can’t resign. She’s the best thing that’s happened to the Republicans in years.

I heard this soundbite this morning on the way to work and nearly puked and wrecked my car. What is with these automatons on the left? Blithering ingroamouses repeating boilerplate empty platitudes.
daesleeper on May 22, 2009 at 2:41 PM
We can’t let all this distracting distractiveness get in the way of staying the course and moving into the future.
Beyond that, I refuse to comment further.
And they gave Sarah Palin hell because of how she spoke…
Onus on May 22, 2009 at 2:42 PM
This woman is the biggest, phoniest, witch in the country. She is so fake, anyone can see through her. How anyone votes for someone like her is beyond comprehension. I know those people on the hill cannot possible like her (even the Dems), as she is so insincere, but she has so much power that they are afraid of her.
I watched 5 minutes of her “joke of a” press conference, and she stuttered over her every word, because she is so obviously lying. It is unbelievable that she is a leader in Congress, and number three in line for the Presidency, (behind two equally imbecilic leaders).

Whoops, sorry!
I was trying to say: If I hear her say “New Direction Congress” one more time, I am going to end up having to buy a new T.V.!
(Might be a good plan for getting a new big screen?!)
Fatal on May 22, 2009 at 2:52 PM
It’s the damndest thing, isn’t it. Same thing as Obama talking about how we have to quit spending and stop the deficit. Excuse me? Uh, I know we HAD a deficit when you got here, but, hello?????? Who keeps spending trillions of dollars we don’t have?
scalleywag on May 22, 2009 at 3:02 PM
New TV won’t do me any good. I just have to turn it off.
I can’t stand to look at her, her face is like an old, ugly mannequin, that does not move when her mouth moves.
I think she and Michael Jackson must have the same plastic surgeon, they are starting to look alike! Same nose, same cheeks, same profile.
Susanboo on May 22, 2009 at 3:04 PM
And I wish something WOULD jump out of a tree and stick a banana up her nose.
scalleywag on May 22, 2009 at 3:30 PM
ROFL!! Exactly! I think these dweebs are all banking on Americans having short memories this next year, and in 2012. Or they aren’t worried at all, as their positions are there for them, for as long as they want them. Voters? What stinking voters?
capejasmine on May 22, 2009 at 3:31 PM
Like any of you seriously thought anything would come of this?
Puhlease. You thought the Democrats were going to throw her under the bus?
She OWNS the DNC and controls everything. Hoyer is nothing more than a neutered gelding at this point. His chance to be stallion came and went. (Ok there’s a dbl entendre in there, but ignore it.)
Please stop bitching about this. It’s over. We lost this round and she’s winning. Maybe we’ll get lucky and she’ll decide to set herself on fire. Maybe the earth will change rotational direction too.
The only thing to do is to look forward to 2010 and hope they can chain her to every blue dog D district and win back a majority of seats. She’s a hag. We know that. But she’s a hag who is vile, evil, and should be spending time in Gitmo next to KSM. Ok, I can fantasize can’t I?
Nothing to see here. American’s don’t care enough about principles or truth. Look who they voted for in 2008.
JP1986UM on May 22, 2009 at 3:33 PM
After almost 30 minutes of grandstanding because San Fran Nan knew she had an audience…
If the press had any dignity, any fortitude, or any sense of fury about being simply stonewalled, they would, to a “man,” after Nan’s refusal to say anything, have in unison stood up, given her their backs, and left the room.
Instead they meekly acquiesced to her ceremonious, egotistical refusal, and sheepishy offered up a couple of inane softballs.
Speaking of balls…what a bunch of eunuchs!
marybel on May 22, 2009 at 3:40 PM
By voting nearly unanimously not to investigate her charges, the Senate is just confirming what we all know: Nancy is a nasty piece of lying crud but we’re going to keep her around anyway.

The Republicans have Karl Rove and the Democrats have David Axelrod. Axelrod is no match for Rove, and Nancy can make Democrats cower but not Republicans, they have nothing to lose.

Don’t forget this is the most ethical Congress!
miron on May 22, 2009 at 4:47 PM
Yes, yes, yes. It’s all the GOP’s fault that the Speaker gets to politicize national security issues by lying, accuse the CIA of lying, undermining their credibility so that intelligence gathering in the future can be less successful and get away with it, therefore, making us more vulnerable as a nation. Definitely not Nancy Pelosi’s fault. Definitely not the Democratic Party’s fault. Most definitely the GOP’s fault.
Sultry Beauty on May 22, 2009 at 5:32 PM
So much for a free country. Our rulers have shut down discussion of a topic of concern to the people. So does ed still think “these are good Americans who just have a different idea about how things should be done.”?

This would be a good time for ridicule – and there’s a lot of sugary and dysfunctional Pelosi mannerisms to sprinkle into that endeavor.
I saw it … she stands by her statement – i.e. “CIA lied, CIA always misleads Congress”. That’s what she’s standing by.
We need to keep the pressure on. She has just accused the nation’s top intelligence agency of LYING to Congress. This is one of the most serious charges any legislator can lodge and it needs to be investigated. If she’s right – then all of our National Security objectives could be compromised and in the hands of rogue CIA agents who are carrying out the war on terror any way they see fit.
If she’s wrong – we have a Speaker of the House who is so soaked in partisan politics she’s willing to abuse her power and LIE to ensure her own political survival.
I suspect the situation is the latter. But whatevah …
We can’t leave this story here – it must be resolved. Like the latest Star Trek movie – there MUST be a sequel – you cannot leave the planet VULCAN destroyed – the timeline must be resolved.
HondaV65 on May 22, 2009 at 6:01 PM
She’s a bad joke. Let her stay and be the face of the Democrat-controlled Congress.
ddrintn on May 22, 2009 at 6:17 PM
I reiterate my “Rabid Dog” comment.
franksalterego on May 22, 2009 at 6:45 PM
Keep the pressure on what?
So conservatives can be caricatured as moaning whining sniveling losers who can’t let the past go? (Even though it was only 4 minutes ago)
The Democrats control EVERYTHING!! Get it thru your head. We lost big time and elections have consequences. Nothing is going to happen here of any significance. Ever.
Spend your energies elsewhere.
JP1986UM on May 22, 2009 at 6:46 PM
This nasty pelosi episode is one more reason why it is pointless for our side to try and take the high road. Nice to start out that way but in my world I have a back up plan to go to when nice don’t work.
When the libs catch and rape me they will have had to work at it. Or in the words from a movie I once saw—”bring it on Cletus, I ain’t no easy win.”
arnold ziffel on May 22, 2009 at 7:02 PM
Pelosi is a vulgar horrid liar, it’s pretty well known. But the CIA is culpable for empowering her and many Democrats by their own lies against the Bush administration. You reap what you sow.
Rode Werk on May 22, 2009 at 7:02 PM
Pelosi must be sticking her nose in a pencil sharpener between speeches. With all the fibs she’s told her schnoz must be growing like a dandelion.
If this double-faced dingbat had Native American heritage, her tribal name would probably be Lies-Like-Dog.
Dark-Star on May 22, 2009 at 7:18 PM
Why should she retract her statment? What is going to happen to her? As Nancy says, ‘time to move on’. In other words, FUCK YOU PEOPLE!
GarandFan on May 22, 2009 at 7:20 PM
My favorite part is when Hoyer tries to pull her away from the podium and she does not budge. Talk about awkward.
Joe Caps on May 22, 2009 at 8:16 PM
Cripes, if she falls down the stairs or gets hit by lightning, we’ll never hear the end of it.
I wonder how many different “What if?” scenarios the CIA spooks have been kicking around in the lunch room.

The longer this homely harridan stays in power “Tonya Harding-ing” the kneecaps of the fellow Democrats with her egregious statements the better. A cow in the china shop.
MaiDee on May 23, 2009 at 4:39 AM
She lied and her left wing Democrat friends in congress and the administration simply don’t care. Evidence against her must be gathered and presented because she will never tell the truth.

I hope the tidal wave in 2010 is so huge it puts pelosi on the unemployment line, not even good for speech money.

Only if the republicrats actually start acting like conservatives again. I don’t care to see a repeat of this debacle.

I think the voters of San Francisco need to resign. We could get new voters in there who can read, and stuff.
Mojave Mark on May 23, 2009 at 11:39 AM
Pelosi is useful for making people hate politicans
We need more of this. Politicians pretend to be working for you when mostly they work you over
Missing from the dialogue is the fact Pelosi represents San Francisco. This needs to be emphasized every news item,
Pelosi, who represents San Francisco…
Pelosi, who was voted in by the citizens of San Francisco..
Pelosi, representing the voters of San Francisco…
The right is missing an opportunity to frame the arguments
entagor on May 23, 2009 at 12:07 PM
Sorry to be a day late, but here.
And the majority of the people who think Pelosi lied wouldn’t vote for her anyway.
29Victor on May 23, 2009 at 2:15 PM
We on the right should not call for the speakers resignation. The more this person is in the limelight the more the liberal left is exposed. And I hope old Joe is around for a long time. The left tried to frighten the American voters with “One heartbeat away” and what do we have? Pelosi and Biden surly the dumbest most inept duo in American politcal history.
This pair is the best thing that could happen for the political right.
TomLawler on May 23, 2009 at 3:44 PM
Gates is Obama’s poodle. Gates knows better, and that makes him all the worse prancing as Obama’s poodle for the press.
Hell, if the NAME is tainted, then CHANGE it. Rename the $6K/year better than anything we have in the US proper Guantanamo Prison. Call it “Mecca Point“.

OK, perhaps it was a little childish, but Pussy Galore did lead a gang of lesbian crooks so she did have some leadership qualities, albeit not of very high integrity. Maybe that was their point. I could have found better examples to paint her with such as the Wicked Witch of the West trying to coerce the magic shoes from Dorothy (wealth redistribution), or, how about the Evil Queen enticing Snow White with a poison apple (murdering freedom). I noticed one of those that posted in Politico compared the add to the Taliban and Al Queda, which I thought was a bit of a stretch, especially when this tactic was covered in depth by Stalin and also written profusely about by the Leftist radical, Saul Alinsky, in his book, the “Rules for Radicals.”
